Protocol-Aware Radio Frequency Jamming inWi-Fi and Commercial Wireless Networks

Hussain, Abid,Saqib, Nazar Abbas,Qamar, Usman,Zia, Muhammad,Mahmood, Hassan The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.4

Radio frequency (RF) jamming is a denial of service attack targeted at wireless networks. In resource-hungry scenarios with constant traffic demand, jamming can create connectivity problems and seriously affect communication. Therefore, the vulnerabilities of wireless networks must be studied. In this study, we investigate a particular type of RF jamming that exploits the semantics of physical (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layer protocols. This can be extended to any wireless communication network whose protocol characteristics and operating frequencies are known to the attacker. We propose two efficient jamming techniques: A low-data-rate random jamming and a shot-noise based protocol-aware RF jamming. Both techniques use shot-noise pulses to disrupt ongoing transmission ensuring they are energy efficient, and they significantly reduce the detection probability of the jammer. Further, we derived the tight upper bound on the duration and the number of shot-noise pulses for Wi-Fi, GSM, and WiMax networks. The proposed model takes consider the channel access mechanism employed at the MAC layer, data transmission rate, PHY/MAC layer modulation and channel coding schemes. Moreover, we analyze the effect of different packet sizes on the proposed jamming methodologies. The proposed jamming attack models have been experimentally evaluated for 802.11b networks on an actual testbed environment by transmitting data packets of varying sizes. The achieved results clearly demonstrate a considerable increase in the overall jamming efficiency of the proposed protocol-aware jammer in terms of packet delivery ratio, energy expenditure and detection probabilities over contemporary jamming methods provided in the literature.

      • Anti-windup Compensator Synthesis for Cascaded Linear Control System

        Muntazir Hussain,Najam us Saqib,Muhammad Rehan,Muhammad Siddique 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

In this article a method is proposed for anti-windup compensator (AWC) design for linear cascaded systems. Instead of using the conventional methods for designing AWC, we used the decoupled based architecture to design the AWC gains for the saturated linear cascades systems. The global sector condition is employed to derive the necessary condition for the global exponential and L2 exponential stability of the proposed AWC schema. Furthermore a regional AWC design conditions are derived applicable for stable as well as unstable cascaded systems. Finally, simulation example is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed anti-windup compensator (AWC) techniques for linear cascaded control systems.

INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY IDEALS IN ORDERED SEMIGROUPS

        Asghar Khan,Madad Khan,Saqib Hussain 한국전산응용수학회 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.1

We prove that a regular ordered semigroup S is left simple if and only if every intuitionistic fuzzy left ideal of S is a constant function. We also show that an ordered semigroup S is left (resp. right) regular if and only if for every intuitionistic fuzzy left(resp. right) ideal A =<μA,γA>of S we have μA(a) = μA(a²), γA(a) = μA(a²) for every a ∈ S. Further, we characterize some semilattices of ordered semigroups in terms of intuitionistic fuzzy left(resp. right) ideals. In this respect, we prove that an ordered semigroup S is a semilattice of left (resp. right) simple semigroups if and only if for every intuitionistic fuzzy left (resp. right)ideal A = <μA,γA>of S we have μA(a) = μA(a2), γA(a) = μA(a²) and μA(ab) = μA(ba), γA(ab) = γA(ba) for all a.b ∈ S.

Regional Precipitation Variability Associated with Zonal Movement of Indian Ocean High Pressure System

        Bilal Ahmed Usmani,Saqib-Ur-Rehman,Syed Adnan Hussain,Kamran Khan,Atia Elahi 한국기상학회 2019 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.55 No.4

Several studies have linked ongoing austral winter drying conditions in southwest Western Australia (SWWA) to changes in regional and large scale sea level pressure. As the region bounded by SWWA occupies limited observation of a typical global climate model (GCM), it is not easy to infer the influence of global climate change during the drought inSWWA. In this study, we explore the relationships between early winter (May-Aug) rainfall in Kent river catchment (KRC), Southwestern Australia and Indian Ocean High Pressure system. We construct two objective indices of Indian Ocean High Pressure system (IOHPS), viz., (i) the intensity of Indian Ocean High Pressure (IOHP) and, (ii) the Indian Ocean High Longitude (IOHLN) using National Center of Environmental Prediction mean sea-level pressure (MSLP) reanalysis data. The station data of seasonal rainfall is obtained from Australian Bureau of Meteorology. A representative rainfall index for the KRC was built by averaging the seasonal rainfall three major stations for the period of 1951–2016. Significant inverse relationship is found between early wintertime precipitation in KRC, Southwestern Australia and the IOHP and IOHLN. The IOHPS accounts for more of the early winter (May–August) precipitation variation in KRC than the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), Southern Annular mode (SAM) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). Our significant findings suggest that strengthening of IOHP and zonal movement of IOHPS has a major contribution in decline of early winter precipitation in KRC.

      • Optimized Deep Learning Techniques for Disease Detection in Rice Crop using Merged Datasets

Muhammad Junaid,Sohail Jabbar,Muhammad Munwar Iqbal,Saqib Majeed,Mubarak Albathan,Qaisar Abbas,Ayyaz Hussain International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.3

Rice is an important food crop for most of the population in the world and it is largely cultivated in Pakistan. It not only fulfills food demand in the country but also contributes to the wealth of Pakistan. But its production can be affected by climate change. The irregularities in the climate can cause several diseases such as brown spots, bacterial blight, tungro and leaf blasts, etc. Detection of these diseases is necessary for suitable treatment. These diseases can be effectively detected using deep learning such as Convolution Neural networks. Due to the small dataset, transfer learning models such as vgg16 model can effectively detect the diseases. In this paper, vgg16, inception and xception models are used. Vgg16, inception and xception models have achieved 99.22%, 88.48% and 93.92% validation accuracies when the epoch value is set to 10. Evaluation of models has also been done using accuracy, recall, precision, and confusion matrix.

      • Emotion Recognition of Low Resource (Sindhi) Language Using Machine Learning

Ahmed, Tanveer,Memon, Sajjad Ali,Hussain, Saqib,Tanwani, Amer,Sadat, Ahmed International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.8

One of the most active areas of research in the field of affective computing and signal processing is emotion recognition. This paper proposes emotion recognition of low-resource (Sindhi) language. This work's uniqueness is that it examines the emotions of languages for which there is currently no publicly accessible dataset. The proposed effort has provided a dataset named MAVDESS (Mehran Audio-Visual Dataset Mehran Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech in Sindhi) for the academic community of a significant Sindhi language that is mainly spoken in Pakistan; however, no generic data for such languages is accessible in machine learning except few. Furthermore, the analysis of various emotions of Sindhi language in MAVDESS has been carried out to annotate the emotions using line features such as pitch, volume, and base, as well as toolkits such as OpenSmile, Scikit-Learn, and some important classification schemes such as LR, SVC, DT, and KNN, which will be further classified and computed to the machine via Python language for training a machine. Meanwhile, the dataset can be accessed in future via https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5213073.
