The physical properties of the acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) can be easily controlled by a proper functional monomer which has functional groups for crosslinking. This study was to investigate the effect of crosslinking agents, isocyanate and epoxy types, of acrylic PSAs on adhesive properties. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate, acrylic acid (AA), and 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate as monomer were used. The obtained samples with different AA contents were partially crosslinked with epoxy- or isocyanate-typed agent. Peel strength, balltack, holding power test and contraction percentage of the obtained PSA were evaluated. Most properties of acrylic PSAs were increased with AA content and acrylic PSAs with epoxy-typed crosslinking agent (4 crosslinking sites) which produces flexible link (ether), showed better properties than those of isocyanate-typed one (3 crosslinking sites).

Two different wet etching solutions, NaOH 40% and Acid, were used for etching in tri-crystalline Silicon(Tri-Si) solar cell fabrication. The wafers etched in NaOH40% solution showed higher reflectance compared to the wafers etched in Acid solution after SiN_x deposition. In light current-voltage results, the cells etched in Acid solution exhibited higher short circuit current and open circuit voltage than those of the cells etched in NaOH 40% solution. We have obtained 16.70% conversion efficiency in large area(156cm²) Tri-Si solar cells etched in Acid solution.

Vascular inflammation activated by pro-inflammatory cytokines is an inflammatory response that occurs in the early stages of atherosclerosis. Endothelial dysfunction in vascular inflammation begins with the expression of cell surface adhesion molecules by pro-inflammatory cytokines. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and verify the vascular inflammatory effects of isobavachalcone. In this study, we investigated the effects of isobavachalcone on inflammatory responses in vascular inflammation induced by the tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). TNF-α stimulation significantly increased the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1) proteins, and concentration-dependently decreased by isobavachalcone in HUVECs. Isobavachalcone suppressed TNF-α-induced ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression in HUVECs, thereby inhibiting TNF-α-induced increase in monocyte adhesion. In addition, isobavachalcone decreased the phosphorylation of the NF-κB (necrosis factor κB) p65 subunit. The findings of this study demonstrate that isobavachalcone prevents TNF-α-induced vascular inflammation and has the potential to protect against the early progression of atherosclerosis.

The bioaccumulation of 16 United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and alkylated PAHs in the Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum exposed to sediments artificially contaminated by Iranian Heavy Crude Oil was measured and the biota-sediment accumulation factor (BSAF) was estimated through laboratory experiments. The proportion of 16 PAHs accumulated in the tissue of R. philippinarum was only from 3 to 7% of total PAHs. Among 16 PAHs, the concentration of naphthalene was highest in the tissue. Alkylated PAHs were highly accumulated more than 93% of total PAHs. The C3 dibenzothiophene was most highly accumulated. The relative composition of alkylated naphthalenes in the tissue of R. philippinarum was lower than in the sediments. In contrast, those of alkylated compounds of fluorenes, phenanthrenes, dibenzothiophenes were higher in the tissue than the sediments. The BSAF for sum of 16 PAHs was 0.11 to 0.13 g carbon/g lipid and that for alkylated PAHs was 0.05 to 0.06 g carbon/g lipid. Naphthalene showed the highest BSAF value. Alkylated PAHs with the same parent compound, BSAF tended to increase with the number of alkylated branch increased, except for alkylated chrysenes. BSAF of total PAHs lies between that of field-based values, and are also similar to those of other persistent organic pollutants (PCBs, DDTs, HCHs). This study provides the BSAF values of individual alkylated PAHs accumulated in R. philippinarum for the first time and will be used as a basis for further understanding the bioaccumulation of organic contaminants in the marine benthic organisms.
A dual geometry of the hadron in dense matter
Lee, Bum-Hoon,Park, Chanyong,Sin, Sang-Jin IOP Publishing Ltd 2009 Journal of high energy physics Vol.2009 No.7
We identify the dual geometry of the hadron phase of dense nuclear matter and investigate the confinement/deconfinement phase transition. We suggest that the low temperature phase of the RN black hole with the full backreaction of the bulk gauge field is described by the zero mass limit of the RN black hole with hard wall. We calculated the density dependence of critical temperature and found that the phase diagram closes. We also studythe density dependence of the ρ meson mass.

The complex formation between transcription factors (TFs) and coactivator proteins is required for transcriptional activity, and thus disruption of aberrantly activated TF/coactivator interactions could be an attractive therapeutic strategy. However, modulation of such protein–protein interactions (PPIs) has proven challenging. Here we report a cell-permeable, proteolytically stable, stapled helical peptide directly targeting nuclear receptor coactivator 1 (NCOA1), a coactivator required for the transcriptional activity of signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6). We demonstrate that this stapled peptide disrupts the NCOA1/STAT6 complex, thereby repressing STAT6-mediated transcription. Furthermore, we solved the first crystal structure of a stapled peptide in complex with NCOA1. The stapled peptide therefore represents an invaluable chemical probe for understanding the precise role of the NCOA1/STAT6 interaction and an excellent starting point for the development of a novel class of therapeutic agents.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Case Reports : Maximal Points of Head`s Zone in Fixed Drug Eruption
( Sang Sin Lee ),( Dong Kyun Hong ),( Myung Im ),( Young Lee ),( Young Joon Seo ),( Jeung Hoon Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2011 Annals of Dermatology Vol.23 No.3s
The principles determining the primary localization of lesions in fixed drug eruption (FDE) are still unknown. Studies investigating the predilection areas in FDE have indicated drug-related, trauma-related, or inflammation-related specific site involvement, as well as visceracutaneous reflex-related specific site involvement. The importance of viscerocutaneous reflexes for the location of dermatoses was first recognized in the 1960s. Head`s zones are viscerocutaneous reflex projection fields on the skin that extend over certain dermatomes and possess a reflex-associated maximal point. Recently, in a Turkish collective of patients, three women with the primary location of FDE lesions on the maximal points of Head`s zones were presented. We also experienced 3 cases with FDE where the lesions were located at specific sites (buttocks), the so-called maximal points of Head`s zones, which are known to be the most active dermatomal areas of an underlying visceral pathology. An underlying internal disturbance (ureter stone, pyelonephritis and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease) was found in all 3 patients, corresponding to the organ-related maximal point of Head`s zones in each case. In conclusion, the primary location of FDE lesions on the maximal points of Head`s zones revealed relevant organ disorders with corresponding projection fields. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S383~S386, 2011)
