FC(free choresterol) plays an important role in normal and pathophysiological cells including that of messenger molecule or dilator of blood vessels in such illnesses as artheriosclerosis, hypertension and myocardial infarction. Smooth muscle and endothelial cell functions in the arteria wall are unified by complex intercellular signalling processes. In arteria comprised of one layer of smooth muscle cells surrounding the endothelium, the close apposition of the two cell types enables a signal derived from one cell to rapidly diffuse to neighboring cells. Experimentation was conducted to investigate the potential contribution of Sohaphyangwon(SHHW) on levels of FC generated by goaded microphages, and mechanisms of protection against ACAT inhibitor. It was found that J774 macrophages, which normally do not express FC were expressed by oxLDL and ACAT inhibitor. SHHW protected cells were found to be resistant to oxLDL and delayed death following the FC. Inhibition of FC formation abolished the protective effect against ACAT inhibitor exposure. Cadiovascular diseases include abnormalities of blood vessels dysfunction of the renin-angiotension system. What relation herbal medicine may have with vessel endothelium necrosis was here studied. In Oriental Medicine, SHHW water extract used for diseases in relation to cardiovascular systems. The resistence to cardiovascular disease of ACAT inhibitor induced J774 macrophage cells were studied through analysis of cell morphological patterns and immunochemistry of SHHW. The results of this study suggest that SHHW has protective effects on the cardiovascular system, and that it is effective in both prevention and treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, particularity against necrosis of blood.

본지에서는 지난 2000년 1월호에 '21세기 한국건축의 비전'이란 주제로 기획특집을 마련, 교육관련 부문을 이상헌(건국대 건축대학원)교수에게 집필 의뢰하여 '건축교육개혁방안 ; 학부 5년제 문제 있다'는 내용의 원고를 게재하였고, 이후 이교수의 글과 관련하여 김광현(서울대 건축학과)교수는 학부 5년제의 취지를 이해하지 못한데서 비롯됐다며, 이교수의 글에 대한 반론을 제기하여 '학부 5년제 문제있다는 주장의 문제'의 글을 기고하여 본지 2월호에 게재한 바 있다. 이에 대해 이상헌교수는 '학부 5년제 문제있다는 주장의 문제'에 대해 반론을 제기한 김광현교수의 글은 필자의 글에 대한 의도나 생각을 근본적으로 오해한 데서 비롯된 것으로서 이에 대한 보다 정확한 필자의 생각을 피력하기 위해 '대학원 중심의 4+2년제를 주장하는 이유'에 대한 글을 3월호에 게재코자 기고하였다. 그러나 지면관계상 3월호에 게재하지 못하고, 이번호의 '기고'지면을 통해 게재코자 하며, 아울러 지난 1,2월호 본지를 통해 게재된 건축교육 관련내용에 대한 필자의 글과 본란의 글은 우리 협회의 의견과 일치하지 않을 수도 있음을 밝힌다.

YBaCuO계 초전도체로 자기 센서를 제작하였다. 초전도 자기 센서는 약 95K에서 초전도 특성이 나타나며 액체질소온도에서 외부 자계를 인가할 때 전기저항이 증가하였다. 자계 인가로 인해 센서에서 발생되는 전압강하는 0에서부터 $100{\mu}V$이상으로 변화하였다. 전기저항의 변화는 자계에 의존하며, 센서의 감도는 2.9 ohm/T가 된다. 이 센서는 약 $1.5{\times}10^{-5}T(=1.5{\times}10^{-1}G)$까지의 자기를 감지 할 수 있다. 외부자계에 의한 전기저항의 증가는 초전도재료를 관통하는 자속으로 인한 Josephson 접합의 변화에 기인한다. A magnetic field sensor is fabricated with superconducting ceramics of Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The prepared material shows the superconductivity at about 95K. The sensor at liquid nitrogen temperature shows the increase in electrical resistance by applying magnetic field. Actually, the voltage drop across the sensor is changed from zero to a value. more than $100{\mu}V$ by the applied magnetic field. The change in electrical resistance depends on magnetic field. The sensitivity of this sensor is 2.9 ohm/T. The sensing limit is about $1.5{\times}10^{-5}T(=1.5{\times}10^{-1}G)$. The increase in electrical resistance by the magnetic field is ascribed to a modification of the Josephson junctions due to the penetrating magnetic flux into the superconducting material.

BiSrCaCuO superconducting ceramic thick films were fabricated by chemical process. The x ray diffraction pattern of the BiSrCaCuO thick films contained 110 K phase. The critical temperature of BiSrCaCuO thick films were Tc=95 K-97 K. The critical temperature and critical density of BiSrCaCuO thick film grown at $750 {\circ}C$ were Tc = 95 K and $Jc= 7{\times}10^{6} A/cm^{2}$ We obtained high-Jc as-grown BiSrCaCuO on an MgO substrate by low fressure CVD.

Determination and differentiation of cells in the skeletal muscle lineage is positively regulated by cell-cell contact. Differentiation proteins proposed to mediate this effect include both classical MyoD and MEF members; potential interactions between the promyogenic activities of these classes of protein, however, are unknown. We show here that MyoD and MEF, two promyogenic family members that relate to each other in a cis fashion, form interactions with MyoD and MEF. These proteins contain myosin-heavy chainsand are enriched at sites of cell-cell contact between myoblasts. Therefore, in differentiation of MyoD and MEF from Chungsimyeonjaeum interact dependently, suggesting that the interactions occur in a cis fashion; consistent with this conclusion, MyoD-mediated differentiation is required for myoblasts to occur by Chungsimyeonjaeum. Inhibition in myoblasts of a MyoD by Staurosporine in its ability to associate with MEF interferes with differentiation as assessed by morphological and transcription levels, suggesting that this interaction is functionally important in myogenesis. Also, some of the differentiation-mediated proteins that are required for myogenesis seem to be based on interdependent activities of the promyogenic classical smad-subfamily.
