Six Indian geographical populations of D. bipectinata were analysed electrophoretically for allozymic variation at nine loci as well as for ethanol tolerance potential. Allelic frequency changes at Adh, Odh and Est-5 loci correlated significantly with increase in latitude. On the basis of F_(ST) values, Adh, Odh, Mdh and α-Gpdh loci depicted modest amounts of genetic differentiation. Thus, the occurrence of significant genotypic as well as allelic frequency heterogeneity, genic differentiation and clinal variation at polymorphic loci suggest evidence of natural selection maintaining such genic differentiation in D. bipectinata populations from the Indian sub-continent. The Indian populations of D. bipectinata revealed genetic differentiation in term of ethanol indices such as LT_(50) hrs(72 to 96 hrs), adult ethanol threshold concentration(2.5 to 4.0'%), LC_(50) thanol concentration(2.7 to 4.2%). The parallel occurrence of latitudinal variation at Adh locus as well as ethanol tolerance in Indian geographical populations of D. bipectinata could be maintained by balancing natural selection varying spatially along the north south axis of the Indian sub-continent.

A new gel polymer electrolyte based on 1-methyl-1-propylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethyl sulfonyl)imide ([PMpyr][NTf2]) entrapped in poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) is prepared and optimized for flexible solid state supercapacitor applications. The structural, thermal, electrical and electrochemical properties of the ionic liquid gel polymer electrolyte membranes are studied by different characterization techniques. The transparent gel polymer electrolyte membranes exhibit high amorphicity and excellent thermal stability. The 20PVdF-HFP:80[PMpyr][NTf2] gel polymer electrolyte membrane possesses a high ionic conductivity (1.596 × 10−3 S cm−1) and wide electrochemical stability window (4.7 V) at room temperature. It is used as the electrolyte material for the fabrication of flexible electric double layer supercapacitors (EDLCs) with multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-added and unadded activated carbon (AC) electrodes. The performances of flexible EDLCs are evaluated using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge–discharge measurements. The EDLC with MWCNT-added AC electrodes exhibits apparently higher specific capacitance of electrode (156.64 F g−1), specific energy (30.69 Wh kg−1) and specific power (4.13 kW kg−1) than that with AC electrodes. The cyclic stability of the former is still in a good condition at the 2000th charge–discharge cycle and much better than the latter. The present comparative study indicates that the 20PVdF-HFP:80[PMpyr][NTf2] gel polymer electrolyte is a good candidate for the development of flexible solid-state supercapacitors.
Novel Vertical GAA-AlGaN/GaN Dopingless MIS-HEMT: Proposal and Investigation
Ravi Ranjan,Nitesh Kashyap,Ashish Raman 한국전기전자재료학회 2021 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.22 No.4
This paper presents a gate all around (GAA) AlGaN/GaN HEMT (GAA-MIS-HEMT) with AlN as an interfacial passivation layer. Gate all around technique is used to improve the performance of device such as carrier concentration, electric field and current density at the interface of AlGaN & GaN. The enhanced control over the 2DEG due to gate all around structure helped in attaining superior performance. Al2O3 is used as a dielectric. The results of GAA-MIS-HEMT are compared with planar-MIS-HEMT, which shows that the GAA-MIS-HEMT provides better ON-state current, OFF-state current, transconductance, cutoff frequency (11 GHz) and ON-state to OFF-state current ratio (10 11 ), ON-resistance (0.9Ω-cm2 ) and subthreshold slope (63 mV/dec). All the layers of proposed structure are dopingless.

Objective: To study the association of facet joint angulation and joint tropism with degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) through a comparison with a matched control group. Methods: This radiographic study was carried out in 2 groups of 45 patients each. Group A contained patients with single-level DS, while group B (control) contained non-DS patients with similar age and degeneration who underwent surgery for disc prolapse or lumbar stenosis. DS was diagnosed based on translation of ≥3 mm on standing lateral radiography. Axial magnetic resonance imaging from L3 to S1 was utilized to assess the angulation of facet joints in relation to the coronal plane; a difference of ≥8° was considered to indicate tropism. Results: Among 45 patients with DS, 15 were males and 30 females. Their mean age was 62.2 years. Facet tropism was identified in 20 of 45 patients at the level of DS, 12 patients at a level proximal to DS, and 15 patients at a level distal to DS. Facet tropism was found in 7 of the 45 patients in group B. At L3–4, facet tropism was observed in 13 patients (28.88%) in group A and 2 (4.44%) in group B. At L4–5, tropism was observed in 19 patients (42.22%) in group A and 5 (11.11%) in group B. At L5–S1, tropism was seen in 17 patients (37.77%) in group A and 2 (4.44%) in group B. Group A showed a significantly higher prevalence of multilevel facet tropism and tropism at levels adjacent to the DS level. A higher average angulation of facet joints was observed in the DS group, but the difference was not statistically significant at all levels. Conclusion: The present study documented a statistically significant relationship between facet tropism and DS. A higher prevalence of facet tropism was also found in DS patients at non-DS levels, which is a novel observation. This finding supports the argument that facet tropism is a pre-existing morphological variation contributing to the development of DS, not a result of secondary remodelling.

Full scale disinfection by peracetic acid (PAA) was achieved on Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) water, which was pre-treated physically by a fast settling-filtration unit. Disinfection of untreated CSO waterusing PAA was compared to treatment using a particle separator (HydroSeparator1) and additionalcoagulation with poly-aluminum-chloride. Disinfection for Enterococcus increased with the applied doseof PAA and additional improvement was achieved when it was preceded by chemical coagulation with5 mg L 1 poly-aluminum-chloride. When Enterococcus was reduced by treatment in the HydroSeparator, followed by PAA treatment during a CSO event, the treatment was sufficient to maintain microbialquality in the recipient water.
Prolyl 4 Hydroxylase: A Critical Target in the Pathophysiology of Diseases
Ravi Kant,Anjana Bali,Nirmal Singh,Amteshwar Singh Jaggi 대한약리학회 2013 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.17 No.2
Prolyl 4 hydroxylases (P4H) are iron- and 2-oxoglutamate-dependent dioxygenase enzymes and hypoxia-inducible transcription factor (HIF)-P4Hs play a critical role in the regulating oxygen homeostasis in the local tissues as well in the systemic circulation. Over a period of time, a number of prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors and activators have been developed. By employing the pharmacological tools and transgenic knock out animals, the critical role of these enzymes has been established in the pathophysiology of number of diseases including myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, stroke, neurodegeneration, inflammatory disease, respiratory diseases, retinopathy and others. The present review discusses the different aspects of these enzymes including their pathophysiological role in disease development.
