Objectives: This study aimed to survey the characteristics of air quality and meteorological conditions in a greenway park. Methods: We measured meteorological and health related factors, including noise, particulate matter ($PM_{10}$) and selected gaseous air pollutants at three locations in a greenway park and on a general roadside as comparison. The measurements were repeated four times from April to October 2014. Results: The average air temperature in the greenway park was $20.7^{\circ}C$ which was $1-2^{\circ}C$ lower than on the general roadside. The average $PM_{10}$ concentration in the greenway park was $85.0{\mu}g/m^3$, a level 2-3 times lower than that at the roadside. The noise level at the greenway site was 4.4 dB(A)- 23.0 dB(A) lower than at the roadside. The average CO, $CO_2$, $SO_2$ and NOx concentrations in the greenway park were lower than at the roadside. The average phytoncide and anions concentrations in the greenway park were higher than at the roadside. Conclusions: The urban forest of the greenway park may have some impact on air quality and meteorological conditions.

However, there was no statistically significant difference. 3) When analyzing accessibility to spaces in multi-family houses area and apartment complexes area respectively according to blocks, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in integration level of day care center, children"s hospital, and park/playground.
Health Beliefs Associated with Cancer Screening Intentions in Korean Workers
Park, Kyoung-Ok,Kang, Jina Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.7
Background: Cancer is a leading cause of death in Korea. To prevent cancer, it is essential to facilitate and promote appropriate cancer screening behavior in the adult population. The aim of this study was to examine health beliefs related to cancer screening intentions using the Health Belief Model (HBM). Materials and Methods: The research participants comprised 275 male health and safety managers at commercial companies in Korea. The self-administered survey explored demographic characteristics, cancer-related factors, beliefs about cancer/cancer screening (BCCS) (vulnerability to cancer, severity of cancer, benefits of screening, and barriers to screening), and cancer screening intention. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors associated with an intention to be screened for cancer. Results: Perceived health status and need for cancer prevention education were major factors associated with BCCS. Poorer health status was associated with greater perceived vulnerability, a perception of fewer benefits, and more barriers (p<0.05). A perceived greater need for cancer prevention education was associated with a higher perceived severity of cancer and more perceived barriers to screening (p<0.05). Marital status, cancer screening experience, and perceived vulnerability to cancer were significant influences on the cancer screening intention (p<0.05). Participants who had undergone cancer screening in the past 2 years were more likely to intend to be screened for cancer than were those who had not been screened; this was true across all degrees of intention and all types of cancer (p<0.01). Hesitant people considered themselves less vulnerable to gastric, lung, and liver cancer than did the poeple who intended to undergo cancer screening (p<0.05). Conclusions: Based on our findings, we recommend that workplace cancer prevention programs attempt to increase awareness about vulnerability to cancer among workers who hesitate to undergo cancer screening.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of treadmill walking in underwater and overground which affects gait and physical function of people who have had a stroke. Twenty people after a stroke who have become hemiplegic over 6 months were participated. Participants were divided into two groups: underwater treadmill group(UTG) and overground treadmill group(OTG). The intervention was done 4 times per weeks for 6 weeks and 1 session lasted for 30 minutes. Gait and physical function elements were measured at baseline, at the middle(3 weeks) and at the end of the intervention(6 weeks). For the elements of gait, walking velocity, affected stance phase, affected weight bearing were assessed. For the elements of physical function, Short Form 8(SF-8) health survey was used. The result of this study showed that both groups improved similarly in walking velocity. However participants in UTG improved more than those in OTG in affected stance phase(p<.05), affected weight bearing(p<.05) and emotional aspect(p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it can be suggested that treadmill walking both in underwater and on the ground can be effective in improving hemiplegic gait and physical function of people who have had a stroke. The result also suggest that the underwater treadmill exercise can be more effective than overground treadmill in restoration of gait in people after stroke.

Little is known about the bacterial communities associated with the plants inhabiting sand dune ecosystems. In this study, the bacterial populations associated with two major sand dune plant species, Calystegia soldanella (beach morning glory) and Elymus mollis (wild rye), growing along the costal areas in Tae-An, Chungnam Province, were analyzed using a culture-dependent approach. A total of 212 bacteria were isolated from the root and rhizosphere samples of the two plants, and subjected to further analysis. Based on the analysis of the 16S rDNA sequences, all the bacterial isolates were classified into six major phyla of the domain Bacteria. Significant differences were observed between the two plant species, and also between the rhizospheric and root endophytic communities. The isolates from the rhizosphere of the two plant species were assigned to 27 different established genera, and the root endophytic bacteria were assigned to 21. Members of the phylum Gammaproteobacteria, notably the Pseudomonas species, comprised the majority of both the rhizospheric and endophytic bacteria, followed by members of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes in the rhizosphere and Alphaproteobacteria and Bacteroidetes in the root. A number of isolates were recognized as potentially novel bacterial taxa. Fifteen out of 27 bacterial genera were commonly found in the rhizosphere of both plants, which was comparable to 3 out of 21 common genera in the root, implying the host specificity for endophytic populations. This study of the diversity of culturable rhizospheric and endophytic bacteria has provided the basis for further investigation aimed at the selection of microbes for the facilitation of plant growth.

To identify an ideal carrier for rhBMP-2 during spinal fusion surgery, we produced a posterolateral rats lumbar fusion model to compare the bone induction potentials of rhBMP in collagen sponge(CS) and rhBMP-2 mixed with insoluble porcine collagen(PC) gel. Forty Sprague-Dawley rats(350-400 grams) subjected to bilateral lumbar intertransverse process fusion were allocated to CS Groups(Groups 1 to 4) or PC gel Groups(Group 5 to 8). Group 1 animals were implanted with CS and injected with 1 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 2 with CS plus 3 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 3 with CS plus 5 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 4 with CS plus 10 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 5 with PC gel containing 1 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 6 with PC gel plus 3 ?g rhBMP-2; Group 7 with PC gel plus 5 ?g rhBMP-2; and Group 8 with PC gel plus 10 ?g rhBMP-2. Spinal fusion masses were evaluated by manual palpation, radiographic assessment, microcomputer tomographic scanning, and histologically at 8 weeks after surgery. Bone fusion was radiologically confirmed in 50% in Group 3, 66% in Group 4, 16.7% in Group 5, 20% in Group 6, 80% in Group 7, and 100% in Group 8. Treatment with PC gel plus rhBMP-2 resulted in higher spinal fusion rates than CS plus rhBMP-2 based on manual palpation, microCT, and histologic examinations(P < 0.01). In this study, the mixing of gelatin gel and rhBMP-2 resulted in more effective lumbar intertransverse process fusion than injecting collagen containing rhBMP-2.

<P>Dipterocarpus obtusifolius has been traditionally used as a herbal medicine and is considered to have anticancer properties. The biological activity of D. obtusifolius in inflammation and the underlying mechanisms of its activity remain to be elucidated. The present study investigated the effects of D. obtusifolius methanolic extract (DOME) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated inflammation in RAW264.7 cells. The effects of DOME on the production of nitric oxide, prostaglandin E-2 and pro-inflammatory cytokines were assessed by ELISA, western blot analysis and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction. It was demonstrated that expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2, interleukin-1 beta and tumor necrosis factor-a was suppressed by DOME in LPS-stimulated cells. Furthermore, treatment with DOME suppressed phosphorylation of mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) molecules, including extracellular signal-regulated kinase, c-Jun N-terminal kinase and p38 MAPK. Translocation of the nuclear factor-kappa B p65 subunit into the nucleus was additionally inhibited by DOME. Phosphorylation of MAPK promoter activity was inhibited by treatment with DOME, PD98059, SB202190 and SP600125. These results demonstrated that DOME inhibits LPS-induced inflammatory responses. Therefore, DOME may be a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.</P>
