Kim Cuc Thi Nguyen,Phuc Hung Truong,Cuong Tu Ho,Cong Tuan Le,Khoa Dang Tran,Tien Long Nguyen,Manh Tuan Nguyen,Phu Van Nguyen 한국균학회 2023 Mycobiology Vol.51 No.6
In this study, twenty-five yeast strains were isolated from soil samples collected in the goldmining ore in Gia Lai, Vietnam. Among them, one isolate named GL1T could highly tolerateCu2þ up to 10 mM, and the isolates could also grow in a wide range of pH (3–7), and temperature(10–40 C). Dried biomass of GL1 was able to remove Cu2þ effectively up to 90.49%with a maximal biosorption capacity of 18.1 mg/g at pH 6, temperature 30 C, and incubationtime 60 min. Sequence analysis of rDNA indicated this strain was closely related toRhodotorula mucilaginosa but with 1.53 and 3.46% nucleotide differences in the D1/D2domain of the 28S rRNA gene and the ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 region sequence, respectively. Based on phylogenetic tree analysis and the biochemical characteristics, the strainappears to be a novel Rhodotorula species, and the name Rhodotorula aurum sp. nov. is proposed. This study provides us with more information about heavy metal-tolerant yeasts andit may produce a new tool for environmental control and metal recovery operations.
Medium-Sized Enterprises: An Empirical Study in Vietnam
Thi Thu Cuc NGUYEN,My Hanh HO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.7
Nowadays, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are placed among the key components of the economy in both developed and developing countries. They are internationally known as the driving force based on their enormous contributions to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating new employment. They are generally presumed as the leader of environmental sustainability, economic prosperity, and innovation, particularly for the economy of developing countries such as Vietnam. However, SMEs have difficulty in raising capital, as well as access to credit. One of the reasons is that there are inadequacies in accounting information quality in SMEs as well as the provision of accounting information and accounting information confidentiality. The main objective of this study was to identify, evaluate, and measure the attributes of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi. The study was based on a field survey using a semi-structured questionnaire on a sample of 150 accountants. The study has identified and measured six (6) attributes of accounting information quality of SMEs that have great effects on accountants. There is, statistically, no significant difference in the level of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi from these different business areas. There is no, statistically, significant difference in the level of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi between the mentioned three groups of the job description. Based on the findings, some recommendations are given for SMEs to improve accounting information quality.

Objectives: Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a major foodborne pathogen in aquatic animals and a threat to human health worldwide. This study investigated the prevalence, antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), and biofilm formation of V. parahaemolyticus strains isolated from fish mariculture environments in Cat Ba Island, Vietnam. Methods: In total, 150 rearing water samples were collected from 10 fish mariculture farms in winter and summer. A polymerase chain reaction assay was used to identify V. parahaemolyticus, its virulence factors, and ARGs. The antimicrobial resistance patterns and biofilm formation ability of V. parahaemolyticus strains were investigated using the disk diffusion test and a microtiter plate-based crystal violet method, respectively. Results: Thirty-seven V. parahaemolyticus isolates were recovered from 150 samples. The frequencies of the tdh and trh genes among V. parahaemolyticus isolates were 8.1% and 21.6%, respectively. More than 90% of isolates were susceptible to ceftazidime, cefotaxime, and chloramphenicol, but over 72% were resistant to ampicillin, tetracycline, and erythromycin. Furthermore, 67.57% of isolates exhibited multidrug resistance. The presence of ARGs related to gentamicin (aac(3)-IV), tetracycline (tetA) and ciprofloxacin (qnrA) in V. parahaemolyticus isolates was identified. Conversely, no ARGs related to ampicillin or erythromycin resistance were detected. Biofilm formation capacity was detected in significantly more multidrug-resistant isolates (64.9%) than non-multidrug-resistant isolates (18.9%).Conclusion: Mariculture environments are a potential source of antibiotic-resistant V. parahaemolyticus and a hotspot for virulence genes and ARGs diffusing to aquatic environments. Thus, the prevention of antibiotic-resistant foodborne vibriosis in aquatic animals and humans requires continuous monitoring.

Being a member of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)since 1994, being 31st member of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (NP) since 2014, Vietnam is making its efforts to improve ABS legislation and policy to implement the NP. A master scheme on capacity building on ABS adopted by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was issued in 2016 to implement ABS was promulgated. Decree No. 59/2017/ND-CP, dated May 12, 2017, on the management of access to Genetic Resources (GRs) and the sharing of benefits arising from their utilization (Decree 59) made an important remark in development of ABS law and policy in Vietnam. This Decree covers all basic issues of ABS, detailing the Law on Biodiversity, which was promulgated in 2008 and internalizing the NP in ABS national law. These include essential elements: determining scope definitions, main actors: providers, users, national focal points (NFP), national competent agencies (NCA), benefit sharing, compliance. In spite of important achievements in ABS law development and implementation to date, there remain some weaknesses and shortcomings within the legal system, institutions to facilitate ABS law being implemented well in practice. There are not only the gaps between laws, unclear demarcation of inter-ministerial assigned issues, but also limitation in terms of capacity and awareness of involved actors on ABS issues. This article aims to analyze all these above mentioned points, recommends improving ABS law and policy as well as provides suggestion to overcome limitation.
Heavy Metal Tolerance of Novel Papiliotrema Yeast Isolated from Vietnamese Mangosteen
( Kim Cuc Thi Nguyen ),( Phu Van Nguyen ),( Hai Thi Hong Truong ) 한국균학회 2020 Mycobiology Vol.48 No.4
Three yeast strains (Hue-1, Hue-8, and Hue-19) with strong heavy metal tolerance were isolated from mangosteen from Hue city, Vietnam. They exhibited identical phenotype and phylogeny. Sequence analysis of the D1/D2 region of the LSU rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region demonstrated that the closest relative of these strains is Papiliotrema sp. with 2.12% and 3.55-3.7% divergence in the D1/D2 domain, and ITS domain, respectively. Based on the physiological, biochemical, and molecular data, the three strains belong to a novel species of Papiliotrema genus, for which the name Papiliotrema huenov sp. nov. is proposed. These strains are highly tolerant of heavy metals compared to other yeasts, being able to grow in the presence of 2mM Pb (II), 2mM Cd (II), and up to 5mM Ni (II), but no growth was observed in the presence of 1mM As (III).
