Genetic diversity of spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) in Vietnam based on COI genes
Huy Van Nguyen,Minh Tu Nguyen,Nghia Duc Vo,Nguyen Thi Thao Phan,Quang Tan Hoang 한국수산과학회 2022 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.25 No.12
A spotted scat, Scatophagus argus, has a high nutritional value and is among Asia’s most widely consumed fish species. Thua Thien Hue’s consumption market considers this species to be of high economic value and requires protection and conservation of the population. However, the studies on the identification and genetic diversity of S. argus distributed in Vietnam are still lacking. Therefore, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene was utilized to distinguish different populations and investigate the genetic diversity of two populations of S. argus from Tam Giang lagoon, Thua Thien Hue province (n = 31) and Ca Mau province (n = 14). The sequencing results indicated 13 distinct haplotypes among 45 sequences. Five single nucleotide polymorphisms were observed to distinguish Hue spotted scat population. The S. argus population in Ca Mau province was higher haplotype diversity (Hd) and nucleotide diversity (π) than those of Thua Thien Hue province, which demonstrates that there are minor differences between haplotypes. There were genetic distances ranging from 0%–4% within the populations and 6.67% between the two populations. In addition to the sequencing, the comparison of morphology, biology, culture, and the growth rate was sufficient to distinguish the spotted scat S. argus in Thua Thien Hue from Ca Mau.

We fabricate a three-dimensional (3D) microdevice operated with minimal peripheral accessories, including a portable pump for semi-automated sample delivery and a single heater for temperature control, for performing reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) integrated with a downstream fluorescence detection module for semi-quantitative assessment of gene expression. The microdevice was fabricated by wrapping a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tube around a pre-designed polycarbonate mold to create a seamless microchannel for both the reverse transcription (RT) of RNA and the amplification of complementary DNA. In addition, a silicone tube, which underwent a two-step surface modification mediated by polyethyleneimine and glutaraldehyde coating, was connected at the outlet to capture amplicons downstream of the PTFE tube for on-site fluorescence detection. This fabrication method enabled continuous-flow RT-PCR (CF RT-PCR) using the 3D CF RT-PCR microdevice as a reactor, a single heater for the temperature control of both RT and PCR processes, and a disposable plastic syringe for semi-automated sample delivery. The microdevice was successfully implemented for the identification of the β-actin gene, a constitutively expressed gene in all cells, and the sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase 1 gene, a potential pharmacological target gene in the diagnosis of cancer, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. This portable integrated microdevice offers a potential approach towards preliminary studies of gene expression and identification of RNA viruses.

Autonomous Offshore Container Crane System Using a Fuzzy-PD Logic Controller
Ngo Phong Nguyen,Trong Nghia Phan,Quang Hieu Ngo 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10
A Fuzzy-PD control strategy for an offshore container crane is investigated in this study. The offshore crane is used to handle containers between a mega container ship (called the “mother ship”) and a smaller ship (called the “mobile harbor”), which is equipped with container crane. The concept of the mobile harbor is a floating form that has the capability of transferring cargo to the local harbor from a large ship that is anchored in a nearby sea, thereby minimizing the port congestion and also eliminating the need of expanding outwards. The control objective during the loading and unloading process is to keep the payload in the desired region in the presence of ship motions. A new control strategy which is a combination of a Fuzzy controller, PD controller and compensation mechanism, is proposed as well. A Fuzzy controller plays a main role in creating the appropriate voltage, based on the dynamics and knowledge of an experienced designer, for guarantees not only prompt suppression of load swing but also accurate control of container crane position. In addition, a classical PD controller is used to tune the value of state variables into suitable range before becoming the inputs of the fuzzification process. This control scheme guarantees the stability of the closed-loop system. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control system for offshore container cranes.

Objectives: Online misinformation has reached unprecedented levels during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study analyzed the magnitude and sentiment dynamics of misinformation and unverified information about public health interventions during a COVID-19 outbreak in Da Nang, Vietnam, between July and September 2020. Methods: We analyzed user-generated online information about five public health interventions during the Da Nang outbreak. We compared the volume, source, sentiment polarity, and engagements of online posts before, during, and after the outbreak using negative binomial and logistic regression, and assessed the content validity of the 500 most influential posts. Results: Most of the 54,528 online posts included were generated during the outbreak (n = 46,035; 84.42%) and by online newspapers (n = 32,034; 58.75%). Among the 500 most influential posts, 316 (63.20%) contained genuine information, 10 (2.00%) contained misinformation, 152 (30.40%) were non-factual opinions, and 22 (4.40%) contained unverifiable information. All misinformation posts were made during the outbreak, mostly on social media, and were predominantly negative. Higher levels of engagement were observed for information that was unverifiable (incidence relative risk [IRR] = 2.83; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.33–0.62), posted during the outbreak (before: IRR = 0.15; 95% CI, 0.07–0.35; after: IRR = 0.46; 95% CI, 0.34-0.63), and with negative sentiment (IRR = 1.84; 95% CI, 1.23–2.75). Negatively toned posts were more likely to be misinformation (odds ratio [OR] = 9.59; 95% CI, 1.20–76.70) or unverified (OR = 5.03; 95% CI, 1.66–15.24). Conclusions: Misinformation and unverified information during the outbreak showed clustering, with social media being particularly affected. This indepth assessment demonstrates the value of analyzing online “infodemics” to inform public health responses.
Right lumbar lymph trunk injury after right laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: a case report
Le Thanh Dung,Le Nguyen Vu,Than Van Sy,Tran Ha Phuong,Ninh Viet Khai,Dao Xuan Hai,Nguyen Quang Nghia 대한이식학회 2023 Korean Journal of Transplantation Vol.37 No.2
Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) is increasingly popular because of its advantages over open surgery. Chyle leak after donor nephrectomy is a rare but potentially lethal complication if not treated appropriately. We describe a case of a 43-year-old female patient with no remarkable history who presented a chyle leak on day 2 after right transperitoneal LDN. Since conservative treatment failed, the patient underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography, which confirmed the chyle leak from the right lumbar lymph trunk into the right renal fossa. The chyle leak was percutaneously embolized twice, on postoperative day (POD) 5 and POD 10, by a mixture of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and lipiodol. The drainage fluid decreased significantly after the second embolization. The subhepatic drainage tube was withdrawn on POD 14, and the patient was discharged on POD 17. MRI lymphangiography and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography effectively identified the chyle leak point. Percutaneous embolization seems to be a safe, effective method for treating high-output chyle leaks.

Dinh, S. Thach,Pham, T. H. Nhung,Nguyen, T. T. Hien,Dinh, N. T. Nghia,Vu, V. Quang,Hoang, T. K. Dung,Duong, D. Loc American Scientific Publishers 2016 Journal of nanoscience and nanotechnology Vol.16 No.8

As changing graphene properties is vital to promote it as electronic device, we developed graphene modified method with epoxy group by two simple methods: ultraviolet irradiation with various partial oxygen pressures and ultraviolet irradiation under rich oxygen condition with various temperatures. By Hall measurement, the electric mobility in graphene was decreased with increasing temperature during UV-ozone treatment at 50 degrees C, 80 degrees C, 100 degrees C and 120 degrees C. At low partial oxygen pressure (less than 160 Torr) the oxidation degree is not significant. Additionally, Raman spectroscopy showed the disrupted pi-pi structure in graphene. Based on the above identification we supposed that epoxy group might establish on graphene surface.

Pressure effects on EXAFS Debye-Waller factor and melting curve of solid krypton
Khac Hieu Ho,Viet Tuyen Nguyen,Nguyen Van Nghia,Nguyen Ba Duc,Vu Quang Tho,Tran Thi Hai,Doan Quoc Khoa 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.1
The pressure effects on atomic mean-square displacement, extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) Debye-Waller factor and melting temperature of solid krypton have been investigated in within the statistical moment method scheme in quantum statistical mechanics. By assuming the interaction between atoms can be described by Buckingham potential, we performed the numerical calculations for krypton up to pressure 120 GPa. Our calculations show that the atomic mean-square displacement and EXAFS Debye-Waller factor of krypton crystal depend strongly on pressure. They make the robust reduction of the EXAFS peak height. Our results are in good and reasonable agreements with available experimental data. This approach gives us a relatively simple method for qualitatively calculating high-pressure thermo-physical properties of materials. Moreover, it can be used to verify future high-pressure experimental and theoretical works.
