        COMPARATIVE RESPONSES OF RICE (ORYZA SATIVA) STRAW TO UREA SUPPLEMENTATION AND UREA TREATMENT

        Twenty five 75% Holstein Friesian cross bred bullocks fed rice straw (Oryza sativa) of long form, were fed with the following five treatments. 1. Rice straw, untreated (RS) 2. RS + water (1:1), stored for 24 hours (WRS) 3. RS (100 kg) + urea solution (4 kg urea/100 litre water) and dried (USRS) 4. RS (100 kg) + urea solution (as in 3) stored in wet condition for 24 hours (UWRS) 5. RS (100 kg) + urea solution (as in 3) stored in pit for 21 days (UTRS). Potential digestibility of treatments of RS was evaluated by monitoring (in vitro) Simulating Rumen like Fermentation (SRLF). The results indicated that Dry Matter Intake (DMI), digestibility of nutrients, N utilization were of the order UTRS > UWRS > USRS > WRS and RS (p < 0.05 to p < 0.01). SRLF index was high (255.84) for UTRS and least (145.58) for USRS. It was intermediary (199.66) for UWRS. The acetyl content (AC) of UTRS with higher hemicellulose (HCE) digestibility (80.8%) was low compared to UWRS, USRS, RS and WRS. The acetate content was of the order UTRS < UWRS < USRS < WRS and RS thereby indicating that reduction in acetyl content was an index of positive response of urea-treatment of RS. In addition, the ratio of HCE/AC in faeces of UTRS was 0.87 as against the ratios (2.26-2.48) observed in other treatments recording reduction in AC due to urea-treatment. Among the treatments, USRS only supplemented N while UTRS in addition to utilization N, increased the digestibility of structural carbohydrates. Reduction in treatment time from 21 days to 1 day (UWRS) resulted in improvements similar to those of UTRS.

      • Ensemble Modulation Pattern based Paddy Crop Assist for Atmospheric Data

        Classification and analysis are improved factors for the realtime automation system. In the field of agriculture, the cultivation of different paddy crop depends on the atmosphere and the soil nature. We need to analyze the moisture level in the area to predict the type of paddy that can be cultivated. For this process, Ensemble Modulation Pattern system and Block Probability Neural Network based classification models are used to analyze the moisture and temperature of land area. The dataset consists of the collections of moisture and temperature at various data samples for a land. The Ensemble Modulation Pattern based feature analysis method, the extract of the moisture and temperature in various day patterns are analyzed and framed as the pattern for given dataset. Then from that, an improved neural network architecture based on the block probability analysis are used to classify the data pattern to predict the class of paddy crop according to the features of dataset. From that classification result, the measurement of data represents the type of paddy according to the weather condition and other features. This type of classification model assists where to plant the crop and also prevents the damage to crop due to the excess of water or excess of temperature. The result analysis presents the comparison result of proposed work with the other state-of-art methods of data classification.

        Extraction and characterization of collagen from the skin of Pterygoplichthys pardalis and its potential application in food industries

        The primary objective of this study was toextract collagen from underutilized fish species owing to itscost effective nature and also its ability to address thedemand of type I collagen arising from food and pharmaceuticalindustries. Acid and pepsin soluble collagen(ppASC and ppPSC) were extracted from the skin of suckercatfish (Pterygoplichthys pardalis) with a yield of 19.6 and23.8% on wet weight basis respectively. The same werecharacterized and confirmed as type I collagen by SDS–PAGE, FTIR and UV–Vis spectroscopy, amino acid analysis,and Zeta potential. Taking into consideration theapplication of collagen in food industry, a food product wasdeveloped by incorporating with fresh cheese. This fortificationwas found to be acceptable and had not altered thetaste, odor and other sensory properties of the product.

        Purification and Identification of Antioxidant Peptide from Black Pomfret, Parastromateus niger (Bloch, 1975) Viscera Protein Hydrolysate

        To utilize fish waste, black pomfret, Parastromateus niger viscera was analysed for its proximate and amino acid composition followed by hydrolysis using various proteases to extract antioxidant peptide. Antioxidant activities of the crude hydrolysate was evaluated using DPPH (54%), metal chelating (78.6%) at a concentration of 1 mg/mL, whereas the reducing power assay was done with different concentration (0.5-2.5 mg/mL) and the activity also increased with increasing concentration (0.021-0.068). Furthermore, the hydrolysate was purified by diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) ion-exchange and Sephadex G-25 gel filtration chromatography. Finally, the purified peptide had a mass of 701.9 Da, and the amino acid sequence was identified as Ala-Met-Thr-Gly-Leu-Glu-Ala using electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS). Moreover, the protection ability of the peptide toward hydroxyl radical-induced oxidative DNA damage and inhibiting lipid peroxidation was evaluated and compared with natural antioxidant α-tocopherol.

        Magnetic resonance angiography of hypoplastic A1 segment of anterior cerebral artery at 3.0-Tesla in Andhra Pradesh population of India

        Pre-communicating or A1 segment of anterior cerebral artery (A1ACA) hypoplasia can negotiate the anterior cerebral circulation. Not many studies have been examined the association of hypoplastic A1ACA and cerebral ischemic stroke (CIS). In this study the authors’ want to accomplish the relationship between hypoplastic A1ACA and outcomes among the patients with CIS in Andhra Pradesh population of India. Retrospective review of prospectively identified 201 adult patients with CIS from 2015 to 2017 was achieved. Patients underwent 3.0T intracranial magnetic resonance angiography were compared with clinical and radiological aspects between male and female cases of A1ACA hypoplasia with associated variations in the circle of Willis. The obtained data was statistically analysed using SPSS software version 16.0 for Windows and P-value <0.05 was considered as significant. Chi-square test was applied to find out the association between the sex and incidence of hypoplastic A1ACA. Sixty-four of 201 patients with A1ACA hypoplasia with no aplastic cases were recorded. It was found to be more in males than females and common on right than left side. Frequent neurological indications such as headache, dizziness, visual instability, nausea, weakness of extremities and seizure were noted and most cases were associated with CIS. Hypoplastic A1ACA often associated with ischemia of terminal branches of ipsilateral ACA which is compromised by the blood flow via contralateral ACA. In this study, though the CIS is not directly related to hypoplastic A1ACA, any alterations in A1 segment is a considerable risk factor of stroke.
