Purpose – The purpose of the present study is to examine the potential effect of empowering leadership on followers’ psychological health via organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) under the lens of conservation of resources theory. Design/Methodology/Approach – Data were collected from 279 full-time Korean employees working in various industries and occupations through an online survey. Structural equation modeling and bootstrapping were used to verify the indirect effect of empowering leadership on employees’ psychological health. Findings – Empowering leadership was positively related to followers’ OBSE, which in turn related to four different types of psychological health: positive affect, life satisfaction, depression, and burnout. Research Implications – Employees’ well-being has been overlooked in empowerment literature. The findings advance the understanding of how empowering leadership could affect followers’ psychological health, highlighting the importance of resource gains. OBSE as an important psychological resource contributes to improving employees’ well-being.

<P>A wearable electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system is proposed for the portable real-time 3-D lung ventilation monitoring. It consists of two types of SoCs, active electrode (AE)-SoC and Hub-SoC, mounted on wearable belts. The 48-channel AE-SoCs are integrated on flexible printed circuit board belt, and Hub-SoC is integrated in the hub module which performs data gathering and wireless communication between an external imaging device. To get high accuracy under the variation of conductivity, the dual-mode current stimulator provides the optimal frequency for time difference-EIT and frequency difference-EIT with simultaneous 4 k-128 kHz impedance sensing. A wide dynamic range instruments amplifier is proposed to provide 94 dB of wide dynamic range impedance sensing. In addition, the 48-channel AE system with the dedicated communication and calibration is implemented to achieve 1.4-m Omega sensitivity of impedance difference in the in vivo environment. The AE-/Hub-SoCs occupy 3.2 and 1.3 mm2in 65-nm CMOS technology and consume 124 mu W and 1.1 mW with 1.2 V supply, respectively. As a result, EIT images are reconstructed with 90% of accuracy, and up to 10 frames/s real-time 3-D lung images are successfully displayed.</P>

<P>The transcription factor cAMP-responsive element-binding protein (CREB) is involved in a variety of physiologic processes. Although its activity appears to be largely correlated with its phosphorylation status, cAMP-mediated dephosphorylation and the subsequent nuclear migration of the CREB-regulated transcription factors (CRTCs) are required to stimulate CREB transcriptional activity. Among the 3 identified mammalian homologs of CRTCs, CRTC3 has been shown to be expressed predominantly in adipose tissues in response to catecholamine signals that regulate lipid metabolism. Here, we show that prolonged cAMP signaling down-regulates CRTC3 in a proteasome-dependent manner and that neural precursor cell-expressed developmentally down-regulated gene 4-like (NEDD4L), a specific ubiquitin ligase for CRTC3, is responsible for this process. By recognizing the PY motif of CRTC3, NEDD4L interacts with CRTC3 and promotes its polyubiquitination. Interaction between NEDD4L and CRTC3 is further boosted by cAMP signaling, and this enhanced interaction appears to be dependent on the cAMP-mediated phosphorylation of NEDD4L at the Ser448 site. Furthermore, we show that food withdrawal stimulates NEDD4L phosphorylation in mice, which then show a decrease of adipose tissue CRTC3 protein levels. Floral design을 중심으로 한 지속가능한 디자인의 색채분석

환경문제가 대두되고 있는 현재, 지속가능한 디자인에 관한 연구가 계속해져왔다. 지속가능한 디자인 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 본 연구는 그 동안 자료가 미비했던 색채의 시각적 효과가 큰 floral design에 초점을 맞추었다. 각 종 설문과 연관검색을 통해, 지속가능한 디자인의 개념에 대해 알아보았다. 다양한 화훼디자인 잡지를 통해 국 · 내외 floral design을 중심으로 한 지속가능한 디자인의 색채, 형태 분석을 하였다. 분석을 통해 향후 floral design을 중심으로 한 지속가능한 디자인을 제안하고자 하였다. 내의 floral design에서 지속가능한 디자인을 주제로 한 작품들의 색상은 주조색과 보조색이 Green계열과 Br계열이 많은 부분을 차지하였는데 이는 식물의 기본이 되는 가지와 잎 소재를 사용하므로써 생태적이고 자연적인 모습을 나타내고자하는 의도를 볼 수 있었고 강조색은 그와 대비되는 색상이나 명도차가 큰 하양이 많은 들어난 색상을 사용하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 국외도 유사한 경향을 보였으며 국내보다는 좀 더 간결한 색상을 사용하였다. 색조는 국내는 좀 더 채도가 높았고 국외는 채도가 낮은 색조를 많이 사용하였다. 선과 형태의 지속가능한 디자인은 국내와 국되모구 곡선과 원형이 주를 이루었고 직선을 사용하더라도 직선을 연결하여 원형이나 곡선형태로 만들어 사용하였다. 국내는 형태가 좀 더 다양하였고 국외는 형태가 좀 더 단순하였다. 본 연구는 floral design에서의 활용이 미비했던 지속가능한 디자인을 floral design과 연관시켜 그 색채와 형태를 분석하여 앞으로 floral design 분야에서도 지속가능한 디자인에 대한 보다 더 많은 조형작업과 연구가 진행될 것이라 기대한다. 또한 floral design에 보다 더 다양하게 지속가능한 디자인의 색채를 활용할 수 있는 사례가 되기를 기대한다.
Low-impedance Tetrodes using Carbon Nanotube-Polypyrrole Composite Deposition

A tetrode is one of the neural electrodes, and it is widely used to record neural signals in the brain of a freely moving animal. The impedance of a neural electrode is an important parameter because it determines the signal-to-noise ratio of the recorded neural signals. Here, we developed a modification technique using carbon nanotube-polypyrrole composite nanostructures to decrease the impedances of tetrodes. The synthesis of the carbon nanotube and polypyrrole nanostructures was performed in two steps. In the first step, randomly dispersed carbon nanotubes and pyrrole monomers were gathered and aligned on the tetrode electrode. Next, they were electro-polymerized on the electrode surface. As the applied time (step-1 and step-2) and the offset voltage increased, the impedances of the tetrodes decreased. The modification technique is, therefore, an important and useful of lowering the impedances of tetrodes.
