It is necessary to study on the consumers' demands as basic data for the planning and marketing pillow articles. This research has carried about the actual conditions, and problems in using pillow, and investigated on the demanded functions and items of pillows to shows the followings as results: 1. In the shape of pillows, the western styles are more used than the Korean traditional styles. Especially, the using ratio of the western style is high in men and the young. 2. According to the order of used amount in pillow-stuffing materials, the most used stuffing is synthetic fibers, chaff. husks of buck wheat, feather and sponge and then filter. There is a marked increase of using feather in comparison with the study performed in 1984. 3. In the points of the getting pillows, ready-made articles are more used than the domestic-made, and more used in the younger than the older. 4. The most inconvenient aspect in getting the pillows is no variable heights and sizes, the second no level about the articles, the third too high price, and the forth the difficulties in finding the materials for the domestic-made items, and then the difficulty to find out the pillow-stuff. 5. The regular order of the complaints in using pillows is as follows: Men put the complaints on the unsuitable height, the bad cushion, and then the hardened stuff, whereas, women hardened stuff, the unsuitable forms and then inadequate height. 6. In the point of the order and tendency of the demanded degree for the functions of pillow, there is no difference between the sex and age of consumers, that is to say, the mostdemanded factor is hygienic function, the least aethetic function. 7. There is an agreement for the demands of the conditions of pillows without relation to the sex and age, that is to say, suitable heights and cushions are the most demanded factors in pillows.

寢具의 衛生學的 硏究[I] : 베개의 熱的 性質에 대해서

The purpose of this study is to find at the basic data for the appropriate conditions of the pillows for the Koreans as well as, for the appropriate conditions to establish the estimating critical for the pillows on the market place. This paper also aims to grasp the characteristics of the materials used to make the pillows for sale. The methods employed for this investigation are as follows ; The thermal poperity of the pillows has been investigated from the ergonomics standpoints, and the thermal physiological function has been studied by means of theoretical methods. The thermal property of the pillow materials on market has been investigated by means of ergonomic and physical experiments. The major findings are as follows ; 1) As for the thermal property of the pillows, the pillow is needed to cool its user's head as far as it doesn't shock its users. 2) In thermal property of the pillow material, wood is in highest grade, buck wheat chaff, chaff and cigar filter are higher and panya, two kinds of fiber is in the lowest grade. 3) The cooling effect in the early stage of duck feather is highest but the effect keeping warm glowed up according as using time elapsed.

兩痲痺者 Diplegia의 被服構成을 위한 인체계측에 관한 연구

In order to get the basic information about the designing and manufacturing of special clothing which is suitable diplegia individuals, taking anthropometic measurements, the diplegia's body dimension, standard dimension, their correlation, maximum, minimum, the relative deviation graph of Mollison and the body index were obtained. The writer examined their body development and abnormal somatotype and compared the difference with the normal somatotype. The results are as follows: 1. One characteristic of the body of diplegia individuals is that their lower parts are disproportionately developed, compared to their upper parts. 2. Diplegia individuals have smaller measurements than those of the normal; height, breadth, and circumference measurments of lower parts. And diplegia individuals have larger measurments; breadth and circumference measurements of upper parts, most of the length measurements. 3. In body index, diplegia individuals have lager measurments than those of the normals; most of index for stature and chest circumference and waist circumference index. And diplegia individuals have smaller measurments; most of the lower parts. 4. Change of somatotype according to age is unbalanced different from the normal's. 5. For the proportion of diplegia individuals, therefore a different pattern design of ciothing is required based on their special somatotype.
