USE OF QUANTUM MECHANICAL FRAGMENTATION APPROACH IN DECAY DYNAMICS OF 221FR NUCLEUS

MANOJ K. SHARMA,AMANDEEP KAUR 장전수학회 2021 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.24 No.4

The ground state and excited state decay dynamics of 221Fr nucleus is studied using the quantum mechanical fragmentation theory (QMFT) based methodology. The decay paths of ground state 221Fr nucleus, i.e. α-decay, cluster emission and spontaneous fission (SF), are explored within the preformed cluster model (PCM). The relative contribution of these decay modes is investigated in terms of fragmentation potential and preformation probability P0. The calculations are made for the spherical as well as deformed choice of decaying fragments. Here, the deformation effects are included upto quadrupole (β2) shapes of nuclei with ‘hot-compact’ and ‘cold-elongated’ optimum orientations. The halflife times (T1/2) of α particle and 14C cluster are calculated using β2-deformed fragmentation, and find reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The spontaneous fission decay fragments are identified for 221Fr parent nucleus and corresponding decay half-life time is predicted. Further, the excited state decay of 221Fr compound nucleus formed in 19F+202Pt reaction is studied at excitation energy E*CN=10 MeV within the framework of the dynamical cluster-decay model (DCM). Note that DCM is an extended version of PCM, where temperature (T) and angular momentum (ℓ) are duly incorporated. The evaporation residue (ER) and fusion-fission (ff) cross-sections are calculated using hot-compact fragmentation approach. Finally, a relative study of spontaneous fission and induced fission is presented in terms of barrier characteristics and potential energy surfaces.

      • Performance Analysis of Different Wavelet Families Over Fading Environments for Mobile WiMAX System

        Harpreet Kaur,Manoj Kumar,Ajay K Sharma,Harjit P. Singh 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.8 No.1

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has made tremendous improvement possible in wireless technology. Wavelet analysis is used as an alternative to Fourier analysis in OFDM system to transform and map data onto orthogonal subcarriers, as it is a time-frequency domain operation thus it offers the advantages of optimal flexibility with less complexity. This paper presents performance analysis in terms of Bit Error rate (BER) of different wavelet families in OFDM System under the joint effect of path loss, multipath fading and noisy environment for Mobile WiMAX. The results obtained show that the performance of the mobile-multipath environments for 16-QAM modulation schemes is enhanced as Daubechies and Biorthogonal wavelet families offers lower BER with different Path loss model. The performance measurements and analysis was done in simulation developed in MATLAB.

      • Static and harmonic analysis of moderately thick square sandwich plate using FEM

        Manoj Nawariya,Avadesh K. Sharma,Pankaj Sonia,Vijay Verma Techno-Press 2023 Advances in materials research Vol.12 No.2

In this paper, sandwich plate, constructed with orthotropic and isotropic composite materials, is analyzed to obtain the static and harmonic behavior. The analysis is done by using ANSYS APDL FEM tool. A solid-shell 190 and an 8-node solid 185 elements are employed for face and core material respectively to analyze the plate. Results was attained by using Reissner-Mindlin theory. Effect of increasing thickness ratio of face sheet to depth of the plate is presented on static, vibration and harmonic response on the sheet and the results are discussed briefly. Published work in open domain was used to validate the results and observed excellent agreement. It can be stated that proposed model presents results with remarkable accuracy. Results are obtained to reduce the weight of the plate and minimizing the vibration amplitudes.

Diversity and Bioactive Potential of Culturable Fungal Endophytes of Medicinal Shrub Berberis aristata DC.: A First Report

        ( Supriya Sharma ),( Suruchi Gupta ),( Manoj K. Dhar ),( Sanjana Kaul ) 한국균학회 2018 Mycobiology Vol.46 No.4

Bioactive natural compounds, isolated from fungal endophytes, play a promising role in the search for novel drugs. They are an inspiring source for researchers due to their enormous structural diversity and complexity. During the present study fungal endophytes were isolated from a well-known medicinal shrub, Berberis aristata DC. and were explored for their antagonistic and antioxidant potential. B. aristata, an important medicinal shrub with remarkable pharmacological properties, is native to Northern Himalayan region. A total of 131 endophytic fungal isolates belonging to eighteen species and nine genera were obtained from three hundred and thirty surface sterilized segments of different tissues of B. aristata. The isolated fungi were classified on the basis of morphological and molecular analysis. Diversity and species richness was found to be higher in leaf tissues as compared to root and stem. Antibacterial activity demonstrated that the crude ethyl acetate extract of 80% isolates exhibited significant results against one or more bacterial pathogens. Ethyl acetate extract of Alternaria macrospora was found to have potential antibacterial activity. Significant antioxidant activity was also found in crude ethyl acetate extracts of Alternaria alternata and Aspergillus flavus. Similarly, antagonistic activity of the fungal endophytes revealed that all antagonists possessed inhibition potential against more than one fungal pathogen. This study is an important step towards tapping endophytic fungal diversity for bioactive metabolites which could be a step forward towards development of novel therapeutic agents.

      • Harmonic analysis of moderately thick symmetric cross-ply laminated composite plate using FEM

        Narwariya, Manoj,Choudhury, Achintya,Sharma, Avadesh K. Techno-Press 2018 Advances in computational design Vol.3 No.2

This paper presents the vibration and harmonic analysis of orthotropic laminated composite plate. The response of plate is determined using Finite Element Method. The eight noded shell 281 elements are used to analyze the orthotropic plates and results are obtained so that the right choice can be made in applications such as aircrafts, rockets, missiles, etc. to reduce the vibration amplitudes. Initially the model response for orthotropic plate and harmonic response for isotropic plate is verified with the available literature. The results are in good agreement with the available literature. Numerical results for the natural frequency and harmonic response amplitude are presented. Effects of boundary conditions, thickness to width ratio and number of layers on natural frequency and harmonic response of the orthographic plates are also investigated. The natural frequency, mode shape and harmonic analysis of laminated composite plate has been determined using finite element package ANSYS.

      • Dosimetric Comparison between Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy and 3 Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy in the Treatment of Rectal Cancer

Simson, David K,Mitra, Swarupa,Ahlawat, Parveen,Sharma, Manoj Kumar,Yadav, Girigesh,Mishra, Manindra Bhushan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.11

Objective: To compare dosimetric parameters of 3 dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3 DCRT) and intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in terms of target coverage and doses to organs at risk (OAR) in the management of rectal carcinoma. Methods: In this prospective study, conducted between August 2014 and March 2016, all patients underwent CT simulation along with a bladder protocol and target contouring according to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) guidelines. Two plans were made for each patient (3 DCRT and IMRT) for comparison of target coverage and OAR. Result: A total of 43 patients were recruited into this study. While there were no significant differences in mean Planning Target Volume (PTV) D95% and mean PTV D98% between 3 DCRT and IMRT, mean PTV D2% and mean PTV D50% were significantly higher in 3 DCRT plans. Compared to IMRT, 3 DCRT resulted in significantly higher volumes of hot spots, lower volumes of cold spots, and higher doses to the entire OAR. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that IMRT achieves superior normal tissue avoidance (bladder and bowel) compared to 3 DCRT, with comparable target dose coverage.

      • Agrobacterium tumefaciens Mediated Genetic Transformation of Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]

Kumar, S.Manoj,Syamala, D.,Sharma, Kiran K.,Devi, Prathibha The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2004 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.6 No.2

Optimal protocol for efficient genetic transformation has been defined to aid future strategies of genetic engineering in pigeon pea with agronomically important genes. Transgenic pigeonpea plants were successfully produced through Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation method using cotyledonary node explants by employing defined culture media. The explants were co-cultivated with A. tumefaciens strain C-58 harboring the binary plasmid, pCAMBIA-1301 [con-ferring $\beta$-glucuronidase(GUS) activity and resistance to hygromycin] and cultured on selection medium (regeneration medium supplemented with hygromycin) to select putatively transformed shoots. The shoots were then rooted on root induction medium and transferred to pots containing sand and soil mixture in the ratio of 1:1. About 22 putative TO transgenic plants have been produced. Stable expression and integration of the transgenes in the putative transgenics were confirmed by GUS assay, PCR and Southern blot hybridization with a transformation efficiency of over 45%. Stable integration and expression of the marker gene has been confirmed in the TO and T1 transgenics through PCR, and Southern hybridization.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided coiling and glue is safe and superior to endoscopic glue injection in gastric varices 65 with severe liver disease: a retrospective case control study

        Kapil D. Jamwal,Rajesh K. Padhan,Atul Sharma,Manoj K. Sharma 대한소화기내시경학회 2023 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.56 No.1

Background/Aims: Gastric varices (GV) are present in 25% of cirrhotic patients with high rates of rebleeding and mortality. Data onendoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided treatment in severe liver disease (model for end stage liver disease sodium [MELD-Na] >18 andChild-Turcotte-Pugh [CTP] C with GV) are scarce. Thus, we performed a retrospective comparison of endoscopic glue injection withEUS-guided therapy in cirrhotic patients with large GV. Methods: A retrospective study was performed in the tertiary hospitals of India. A total of 80 patients were recruited. The inclusioncriteria were gastroesophageal varices type 2, isolated gastric varices type 1, bleeding within 6 weeks, size of GV >10 mm, and a MELDNa>18. Treatment outcomes and complications of endoscopic glue injection and EUS-guided GV therapy were compared. Results: In this study, the patients’ age, sex, liver disease severity (CTP, MELD-Na) and clinical parameters were comparable. The mediannumber of procedures, injected glue volume, complications, and GV obturation were better in the EUS group, respectively. Onsubgroup analysis of the EUS method (e.g., direct gastric fundus vs. paragastric collateral [PGC] coil placement), PGC coil placementshowed decreased coil requirement, less injected glue volume, decreased luminal coil extrusion, and increased successful GV obturation. Conclusions: EUS-guided treatment is more efficient and safer, and requires a smaller number of treatment sessions, as compared toendoscopic treatment in severe liver disease patients with large GV. Furthermore, PGC coil placement increases the complete obliterationof GV.
