A Study on the Development of Limitation of Liability in Maritime Cargo Claims
Le,Thi Thuy Dung,Chung,Cheng-Chi 한국유통과학회 2019 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2019 No.-
The study is an attempt to analyze the concept of limitation of liability in maritime cargo claims with multiple legal and policy perspectives. Tentative efforts are used to make a comparison among different regimes of liability, to figure out it development. In trying to present a synoptic outlook at the evolution of limitation of liability in case of cargo lost or damaged, this study will briefly explore the historical background to the development of the concept of limitation of liability in maritime law. It will contribute to the discussion of the effect of limitation of liability within the context of the study. The paper will be conducted by analyzing various international conventions pertaining to limitation of liability in particular for maritime cargo claims. To some extent, the paper will take a comparative study among relating international conventions to create and develop the concept of limitation of liability.
Determinants of VietGAP Adoption by Tea Farmers in Phu Tho Province, Vietnam
Le Thi Dung,Yoo Chung Sik,Joo Young Kyoo,Nguyen Thanh Phong,To The Nguyen 연세대학교 빈곤문제국제개발연구원 2023 Asian Development Perspectives (ADP) Vol.14 No.1
Although the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a Good Agriculture Practice (VietGAP) procedure for tea production, the number of VietGAP-certified farmers still needs to grow. This research aimed to determine the determinants of VietGAP adoption in tea production in Thanh Ba District, one of the largest and highest tea production areas in Phu Tho Province. It applied a binary logit model to analyze data from 100 Vietnamese tea farmers. It found that age, tea revenue, access to credit, cooperative membership, and VietGAP training have a positive and statistically significant effect on encouraging the conversion decision of farmers. The study’s findings presented helpful information that the Vietnam Government may use insofar as how to apply and popularize VietGAP tea production to produce safer products, increase farmers’ income and protect the natural environment.

<P>Methionine sulfoxide reductases (Msrs) are oxidoreductases that catalyze thiol-dependent reduction of oxidized methionines. MsrA and MsrB are the best known Msrs that repair methionine-S-sulfoxide (Met-S-SO) and methionine-R-sulfoxide (Met-R-SO) residues in proteins, respectively. In addition, an Escherichia coli enzyme specific for free Met-R-SO, designated fRMsr, was recently discovered. In this work, we carried out comparative genomic and experimental analyses to examine occurrence, evolution, and function of fRMsr. This protein is present in single copies and two mutually exclusive subtypes in about half of prokaryotes and unicellular eukaryotes but is missing in higher plants and animals. A Saccharomyces cerevisiae fRMsr homolog was found to reduce free Met-R-SO but not free Met-S-SO or dabsyl-Met-R-SO. fRMsr was responsible for growth of yeast cells on Met-R-SO, and the double fRMsr/MsrA mutant could not grow on a mixture of methionine sulfoxides. However, in the presence of methionine, even the triple fRMsr/MsrA/MsrB mutant was viable. In addition, fRMsr deletion strain showed an increased sensitivity to oxidative stress and a decreased life span, whereas overexpression of fRMsr conferred higher resistance to oxidants. Molecular modeling and cysteine residue targeting by thioredoxin pointed to Cys(101) as catalytic and Cys(125) as resolving residues in yeast fRMsr. These residues as well as a third Cys, resolving Cys(91), clustered in the structure, and each was required for the catalytic activity of the enzyme. The data show that fRMsr is the main enzyme responsible for the reduction of free Met-R-SO in S. cerevisiae.</P>

Bacillus is a diverse genus consisting of more than 200 species with extensive genetic diversity. Their beneficial effects in industrial shrimp farming have been well documented. However, little is known about the biodiversity of the Bacillus spp. in this aquaculture system. Taxonomic analysis by 16S rRNA sequencing does not always allow species-level identification of Bacillus spp. In this study, 26 Bacillus isolates from two industrial Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp ponds in Bac Lieu Province, Vietnam, were analyzed for their genetic diversity by multi-locus sequence typing (MLST). A total of 22 sequence types were identified and segregated into four distinct clusters, corresponding to B. subtilis, B. velezensis, B. siamensis, and B. licheniformis. Bacillus subtilis and B. velezensis accounted for more than 73% of the Bacillus isolates. Notably, the MLST scheme exhibited high discriminatory power and might be further simplified to be a convenient method to identify species of the genus Bacillus.
Weak laws of large numbers for weighted coordinatewise pairwise NQD random vectors in Hilbert spaces
Dung Van Le,Son Cong Ta,Cuong Manh Tran 대한수학회 2019 대한수학회지 Vol.56 No.2
In this paper, we investigate weak laws of large numbers for weighted coordinatewise pairwise negative quadrant dependence random vectors in Hilbert spaces in the case that the decay order of tail probability is $r$ for some $0<r<2$. Moreover, we extend results concerning Pareto-Zipf distributions and St. Petersburg game.
Three-phase flying-capacitor MMC with six coupled inductors
Le, Duc Dung,Lee, Dong-Choon,Kim, Heung-Geun The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2020 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.20 No.4
In this paper, the design and integration of coupled inductors have been proposed for a flying-capacitor (FC) modular multilevel converter (MMC) for induction motor drive applications. In the conventional three-phase FC-MMC, twelve discrete inductors are needed for three legs. However, by integrating one coupled inductor with two windings in two half-arms, the number of inductors required is reduced from 12 to 6. Accordingly, the overall volumes and weights of cores and windings can be reduced by 41.7% and 41.4% when compared with discrete inductors. To confirm the validity of the proposed coupled inductor, a 4160-V/1-MW simulation model of a FC-MMC and a 220-V/3-kW scaled-down prototype have been built, of which performance for induction motor drives has been tested from standstill to the rated speed.
Right lumbar lymph trunk injury after right laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: a case report
Le Thanh Dung,Le Nguyen Vu,Than Van Sy,Tran Ha Phuong,Ninh Viet Khai,Dao Xuan Hai,Nguyen Quang Nghia 대한이식학회 2023 Korean Journal of Transplantation Vol.37 No.2
Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) is increasingly popular because of its advantages over open surgery. Chyle leak after donor nephrectomy is a rare but potentially lethal complication if not treated appropriately. We describe a case of a 43-year-old female patient with no remarkable history who presented a chyle leak on day 2 after right transperitoneal LDN. Since conservative treatment failed, the patient underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography, which confirmed the chyle leak from the right lumbar lymph trunk into the right renal fossa. The chyle leak was percutaneously embolized twice, on postoperative day (POD) 5 and POD 10, by a mixture of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and lipiodol. The drainage fluid decreased significantly after the second embolization. The subhepatic drainage tube was withdrawn on POD 14, and the patient was discharged on POD 17. MRI lymphangiography and intranodal lipiodol lymphangiography effectively identified the chyle leak point. Percutaneous embolization seems to be a safe, effective method for treating high-output chyle leaks.
