Properties in Aqueous Solution of Homo- and Copolymers of Vinylphosphonic Acid Derivatives Obtained by UV-Curing

        Lavinia Macarie,Miloslav Pekar,Vasile Simulescu,Nicoleta Plesu,Smaranda Iliescu,Gheorghe Ilia,Milica Tara-Lunga-Mihali 한국고분자학회 2017 Macromolecular Research Vol.25 No.3

Vinylphosphonic acid is homopolymerized with dimethylvinylphosphonate by radical polymerization using using UV light and photoinitiator Darocur 4265 (3 wt%). The molar ratio between vinylphosphonic acid and dimethylvinylphosphonate is varied between 1:1 and 4:1, respectively. The obtained homopolymer of vinylphosphonic acid and copolymers are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal analysis and size exclusion chromatography - multi angle laser light scattering. The polymerization by UV light is efficient and an average molar mass of 34,200 g/mol is obtained for poly(vinylphosphonic acid) and in the range from 12,700 to 19,120 g/mol for copolymers, which also have a good thermal stability until 320 oC. The polymers structure allows the formation of random coil conformation. The copolymers are tested as inhibitors against corrosion of iron in NaCl aqueous solution, and, as a result, it was shown that these copolymers exhibit promising anticorrosion properties.

Comparison of Anogenital Distance and Correlation with Vulvo-vaginal Atrophy: A Pilot Study on Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women

( Lavinia Domenici ),( Angela Musella ),( Carlotta Bracchi ),( Francesca Lecce ),( Michele Carlo Schiavi ),( Vanessa Colagiovanni ),( Violante Di Donato ),( Claudia Marchetti ),( Federica Tomao ),( In 대한폐경학회 2018 대한폐경학회지 Vol.24 No.2

Objectives: Anogenital distance (AGD) represents the space between labia posterior commissure and anus. This was pilot study to investigate how menopause and so lack of oestrogens affects AGD. Methods: A total of 109 patients were enrolled. AGD was measured in lithotomy position using sterile paper ruler. Anogenital index (AGI) was used to control 2 variables of height and weight (body mass index, kg/m2). Vaginal health index (VHI) was used to evaluate vaginal wellness. Female sexual function index (FSFI) questionnaire was administered to all women to evaluate the impact of menopause on their sexual function. Results: AGD (30.87 ± 2.98 vs. 17.57 ± 2.18; P = 0.0001) and AGI (1.40 ± 0.21 vs. 0.70 ± 0.15; P = 0.0001) were both significantly lower in the postmenopausal group. Postmenopausal women were affected by vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) significantly. Thus, VHI scores were dramatically worse in postmenopausal group (23.95 ± 1.28 vs. 10.75 ± 3.41; P = 0.0001) as well as FSFI results (32.68 ± 2.25 vs. 19.78 ± 5.46; P = 0.0001). Conclusions: This study confirms that AGD in post-menopausal women was significantly shorter than AGD in premenopausal women, correlating with an increase of VVA and sexual impairment. Changes of AGD and AGI demonstrated to predict hormonal changes that may occur after menopause. (J Menopausal Med 2018;24:108-112)

      • The Farm Host: Constructing Rural Hospitality

Dr Lavinia Wilson-Youlden 세계문화관광학회 2017 International Journal of Culture and tourism Resea Vol.10 No.1

This paper explores the means through which farmwomen represent rurality and agriculture within the context of farm hospitality. An interpretative approach has been adopted to understand the lived experiences of women providers of commercial hospitality on the family farm. The analysis is based on interviews with sixteen women providers of farm tourism in the North of England. Findings show that farm heritage and rural culture are central to the farm hospitality product and the staging and performance of representing rurality can pose challenges for farm hosting. The results show a complex mix of rural life representations produced by the women hosts to meet guest expectations, combined with the construction of emotional and physical boundaries to separate the private and public space of the family farm home. The rural idyll is a concept with contradictions between realities and stakeholder expectations, which requires careful management and various strategies to cope with its challenges.

Effects of Yeast Extract and Different Amino Acids on the Dynamics of Some Components in Cabbage Juice during Fermentation with Bifidobacterium lactis BB-12

        Claudia Lavinia Buruleanu,carmen leane nicolescu,daniela avram,iuliana manea,magda gabriela bratu 한국식품과학회 2012 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.21 No.3

Various amino acids and the yeast extract, in amounts of 0.1%(w/v), were separately tested for their influence on the analytical parameters of lactic acid fermentation of cabbage juice with Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BB-12. Compared with the control, cysteine supplementation led to a decrease of the time to reach pH 5.0 of 6 times and an increase of lactic acid productivity of 1.22 times. After 48 h the ascorbic acid content was by 360.73% higher, the fermented cabbage juices being assigned into a distinct group applying both factor analysis (FA) and cluster analysis (CA). Tryptophan contributed to better values for lactic and acetic acid yield, while lysine and yeast extract especially for acetic acid yield. Valine and leucine were not able to improve the fermentation progress, estimated through the analyzed variables. This work would provide some helpful information for the development of various lacto-fermented vegetable juices using probiotic bacteria.

      • FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN ROMANIA : THE IMPACTS ON LOCAL WORKFORCE EMPLOYMENT

        Laura Brancu,Lavinia Lucaciu 동아대학교 동아시아연구원 2010 동아시아 : 비교와 전망 Vol.8 No.3

The foreign direct investment (FDI) liberalization represents one of the most important reforms of the systemic process of transformation of ifferent former communist economies, an action, which stimulates changing towards a functional market economy and their integration into the global economy. The inflows of foreign capital in these countries are perceived as bearing potential beneficial effects, as an instrument capable to introduce specific market economy behaviour, while improving the specialized local production factors- carriers of competitive advantages. In the early 1990s it was believed that FDI could play the role of a new Marshall Plan for the Central and Eastern Europe countries (CEECs). In this paper we will focus on the effects of FDI on the host country, namely the role of FDI in Romanian employment. This issue is important because, starting with the political change of regime, Romania has gone through a transformation of its productive structures. These changes were often accompanied by the reorganizing of the large state enterprises, which were old and oversized. In these conditions we can ask to what extent FDI has played a role in creating new jobs in Romania? To answer this question, in a first stage, we have created an analysis based on available statistical data. This analysis was then completed with the results of our survey, which had as subjects the French company established in Romania.

Pharmacokinetics of cisplatin during open and minimally-invasive secondary cytoreductive surgery plus HIPEC in women with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer: a prospective study

        Marco Petrillo,Massimo Zucchettii,Stefano Cianci,Lavinia Morosi,Carlo Ronsini,Andrea Colombo,Maurizio D'Incalci,Giovanni Scambia,Anna Fagotti 대한부인종양학회 2019 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.30 No.4

Objective: Evidences from animal models seem to suggest that minimally invasive surgery may enhance cisplatin diffusion when the drug is administered in the context of post-operative hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). The present study evaluates the cisplatin pharmacokinetic profile in a prospective series of women with platinum sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer treated with open secondary cytoreductive surgery (O-SCS) or minimally-invasive secondary cytoreductive surgery (MI-SCS).Methods: Cisplatin levels were assessed at 0, 20, 40, 60, and 120 minutes in: 1) blood samples, 2) peritoneal perfusate, and 3) peritoneal biopsies at the end of HIPEC. Median Cmax has been used to identify women with high and low drug levels. Progression-free survival (PFS) was calculated as the time elapsed between SCS+HIPEC and secondary recurrence or last follow-up visit. Results: Nine (45.0%) women received MI-SCS, and 11 (55.0%) O-SCS. At 60 minutes, median cisplatin Cmax in peritoneal tissue was higher in patients treated with MI-SCS compared to O-SCS (Cmax=8.262 μg/mL vs. Cmax=4.057 μg/mL). Furthermore, median cisplatin plasma Cmax was higher in patients treated with MI-SCS compared to O-SCS (Cmax=0.511 vs. Cmax=0.254 μg/mL; p-value=0.012) at 120 minutes. With a median follow-up time of 24 months, women with higher cisplatin peritoneal Cmax showed a longer PFS compared to women with low cisplatin peritoneal levels (2-years PFS=70% vs. 35%; p-value=0.054).Conclusions: We demonstrate for the first time that minimally invasive route enhances cisplatin peritoneal tissue uptake during HIPEC, further evaluations are needed to confirm the correlation between peritoneal cisplatin levels after HIPEC and survival. Is there a characteristic pattern of ambulatory blood pressure profile in type 1 diabetic children and adolescents?

Morić Bernardica Valent,Šamija Ivan,Sabolić Lavinia La Grasta,Stipančić Gordana 대한소아내분비학회 2022 Annals of Pediatirc Endocrinology & Metabolism Vol.27 No.4

Purpose: To examine the characteristics of ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) including blood pressure variability (BPV) and its association with albuminuria in type 1 diabetic (T1D) children and to identify potential predictors of high-normal albuminuria and microalbuminuria. Methods: ABP monitoring was performed in 201 T1D children and adolescents (mean age, 14.7±3.8 years) with T1D duration over 1 year. The level of albuminuria was assessed as the albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) and patients were further classified as low-normal, high-normal or microalbuminuria. Results: Fifteen T1D children (7.5%) were hypertensive using office blood pressure (BP) and 10 (5%) according to ABP. T1D subjects had elevated 24-hour systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) (+0.2 and + 0.3 standard deviation score [SDS]) and nighttime SBP and DBP (+0.6 and +0.8 SDS) compared to reference values. Patients with microalbuminuria had significantly higher 24-hour, daytime and nighttime DBP compared to normoalbuminuric subjects. There was a high percentage of nondippers (74.1%). Nighttime diastolic BPV was significantly higher in subjects with high-normal compared to low-normal albuminuria (P=0.01). A weak correlation was found between ACR and daytime DBP SDS (r=0.29, P<0.001 and nighttime DBP SDS (r=0.21, P=0.003). Age and nighttime diastolic BPV were predictors of high-normal albuminuria while nighttime DBP was a strong predictor for microalbuminuria. Conclusion: T1D children have impaired BP regulation although most of them do not fulfill the criteria for sustained hypertension. There is an association between diastolic ABP and diastolic BPV with rising levels of albuminuria pointing to a clear connection between BP and incipient diabetic nephropathy.

        Laterally extended parametrectomy

( Mihai Emil Căpîlna ),( Lászlo Ungár ),( Alexandra Lavinia Cozlea ),( Mihai Gheorghe ),( Mihai Stanca ),( Balázs Lintner ),( Andreea Anamaria Moldovan ) 대한산부인과학회 2021 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.64 No.5

Objective To describe the laterally extended parametrectomy (LEP) surgical technique, emphasizing the main challenges of the procedure. Methods LEP was designed as a more radical surgical procedure aiming to remove the entire parametrial tissue from the pelvic sidewall. Its initial indications were for lymph node positive Stage Ib (current International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics 2018 Stage IIIc) and Stage IIb cervical cancer. Currently, with most guidelines recommending definitive radiochemotherapy for these cases, initial LEP indications have become debatable. LEP is now mainly indicated for removing tumors involving the soft structures of the pelvic sidewall during a pelvic exenteration, aiming to obtain lateral free margins. This expands the lateral borders of the dissection to not only the medial surface of internal iliac vessels, but also to the true limits of the pelvic sidewall. Results During LEP, the parietal and visceral branches of the hypogastric vessels are divided at the entry and exit level of the pelvis. Consequently, the entire internal iliac system is excised, and no connective or lymphatic tissue remain on the pelvic sidewall. The main technical challenges of LEP are caused by the difficulty in ligating large caliber vessels (internal iliac artery and vein) and the variable anatomic distribution of pelvic sidewall veins. Conclusion LEP is a feasible technique for removing pelvic sidewall recurrences, aiming to obtain surgical free margins.
