Rapid GHG Reductions in the Built Environment under Extreme Conditions
Larsson, Nils Sustainable Building Research Center 2010 International journal of sustainable building tech Vol.1 No.1
A considerable number of papers produced by IPCC and others have outlined the science behind climate change predictions, probable impacts, mitigation measures and possible adaptation. In this short paper, we attempt to identify some of the key links between climate change and the building sector and then to suggest some possible responses for rapid reduction of greenhouse gases under emergency conditions.

Filling of the tool die directly influences dimensional tolerances and density variation. To minimize the variations in filling, both within different sections of the cavity and from part to part, are of great importance for produce high quality P/M parts. Filling of the tool die is also one of the limiting factors in the productivity in powder pressing. By using aeration filling in combination with bonded powder mixes, both weight scatter and productivity can be improved. In this presentation results are presented showing the benefit of using aeration filling for different types of powders

Immunotherapy with specific antibodies is an alternative to antibiotics for the prevention of infections in hu-mans and animals. We have used orally administered immunoglobulin Y (IgY) preparations, purified from eggs of hens im-munized with Pseudomonas aeruginosabacteria, to prevent pulmonary P. aeruginosainfections in a group of patients withcystic fibrosis (CF). Respiratory infections are major problems for CF patients because of the thick mucus in the airways, andchronic P. aeruginosalung infections occur in virtually all CF patients and cause morbidity and mortality. The IgY-treatedgroup had only 2.5 P. aeruginosa-positive sputum cultures per 100 months, and none of the IgY-treated patients becamechronically colonized with P. aeruginosa. In the control group, 13.7 of the cultures per 100 months were positive for P. aerug-inosa, and 24% of patients became chronically colonized with P. aeruginosa. The first enrolled patient in this study has nowbeen treated continuously for more than 10 years. During the first 8 years she only had four P. aeruginosa-positive cultures. After 8 years she became chronically infected, but still after 10 years the bacteria have not turned mucoid. No negative sideeffects of IgY treatment have been noted during these 10 years. To our knowledge this is the longest treatment with specificyolk antibodies for therapeutic purposes.
Western Imperialism and Defensive Underdevelopment of Property Rights Institutions in Siam
Tomas Larsson 동아시아연구원 2008 Journal of East Asian Studies Vol.8 No.1
Thailand and Japan both faced the threat of colonialism in the latter half of the 19th century. While geopolitical vulnerabilities provided Japan with a critical impetus for defensive modernization, they compelled the Siamese state to pursue a strategy of defensive underdevelopment. To resolve this paradox the article explores how variations in the “unequal treaties” imposed upon Japan and Siam by Western powers shaped state interests in a policy area of vital importance to the two countries’ predominantly agricultural economies: the rural land rights regime.
Factors Affecting the Survival of Frozen Thawed Bovine In Vitro Produced Blastocysts
Gustafsson, H.,Larsson, B.,Shamsuddin, M.,Jaakma, U.,Emanuelson, U. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2001 Animal Bioscience Vol.14 No.1
Factors Affecting the Survival of Frozen Thawed Bovine In Vitro Produced Blastocysts. The effect of some factors on the post-thaw survival of a total of 240 in vitro produced bovine blastocysts was investigated using logistic regression analysis. The explanatory variables tested were: type of culture medium before freezing (TCM 199 supplemented with BSA, BSAITS (BSA+insulin+transferrin+selenium), ECS (estrous cow serum) with or without BOEC (bovine oviductal epithelial cells), age of the blastocyst (Day 7, Day 8+9), morphological appearance before freezing (distinct=Q1 or indistinct=Q2 inner cell mass) and type of cryoprotectant (glycerol, 1.0 M or ethylene glycol, 1.6 M). The survival after thawing based on the post-thaw quality and the development after co-culture with BOEC for 24 and 48 hours. Day 7 blastocysts had an almost three times better chance of survival than Day 8+9 blastocysts. Q1, Day 8+9 blastocysts had higher odds to survive after 48 hours in culture than Q2 blastocysts (p<0.05). Blastocysts produced in BSAITS medium had the best chances of survival; however, the odds were not always significant. Blastocysts frozen in glycerol had a better post-thaw quality rating than those frozen in ethylene glycol; however, the difference in post-thaw development at culture was not significant. The relationship between post-thaw quality and post-thaw development at culture was significant (p<0.05). The developmental stage and/or age of the embryo and culture medium where development up to blastocyst takes place affect the post-thaw survival of the bovine embryos.

최적화 분야에서는 VRP(Vehicle Routing Problem)에 대한 많은 연구가 오래전부터 이루어져 왔다.
Plasticity Aspects of Rough Surface Flattening
Biwa, Shiro,Larsson, Joachim,Storakers, Bertil 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 1998 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.4 No.3
Flattening behaviour of rough surfaces is studied accounting for inelastic deformation of asperities distributed on the surface. A consistent micromechanical framework is described which includes a rigorous analysis of plastic deformation of a single asperity followed by a micro-macro linking theory relating the local asperity compliance to its global counterpart of nominal pressure and approach distance. The local analysis rests on recent computational advances where results for a wide range of strain-hardening plastic materials have been condensed in concise formulae. An illustration is given where flattening of rough surfaces by normal loading is determined using a statistical topography description and discussed for fractal theory as well.
Logistics Allocation and Monitoring System based on Map and GPS Information
Chulsoon Park,Larsson Bajracharya 한국산업경영시스템학회 2018 한국산업경영시스템학회지 Vol.41 No.4
In the field of optimization, many studies have been performed on various types of Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) for a long time. A variety of models have been derived to extend the basic VRP model, to consider multiple truck terminal, multiple pickup and delivery, and time windows characteristics. A lot of research has been performed to find better solutions in a reasonable time for these models with heuristic approaches. In this paper, by considering realtime traffic characteristics in Map Navigation environment, we proposed a method to manage realistic optimal path allocation for the logistics trucks and cargoes, which are dispersed, in order to realize the realistic cargo mixing allowance and time constraint enforcement which were required as the most important points for an online logistics brokerage service company. Then we developed a prototype system that can support above functionality together with delivery status monitoring on Map Navigation environment. First, through Map Navigation system, we derived information such as navigation-based travel time required for logistics allocation scheduling based on multiple terminal multiple pickup and delivery models with time constraints. Especially, the travel time can be actually obtained by using the Map Navigation system by reflecting the road situation and traffic. Second, we made a mathematical model for optimal path allocation using the derived information, and solved it using an optimization solver. Third, we constructed the prototype system to provide the proposed method together with realtime logistics monitoring by arranging the allocation results in the Map Navigation environment.
