질소산화물 제거를 위한 V₂O_5/TiO₂촉매 코팅된 다공성 실리카 필터의 제조 및 특성

The prepared porous support from silica coated with TiO₂ and V₂O_(5) catalysts were studied by selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH₃ The effects of V₂O_(5) loading, reaction temperature, space velocity and filter-type(disk and sphere) on the characteristics of NOx reduction with NH₃ were mainly investigated. At space velocity 6000h^(-1), reaction temp rature 350℃, V₂O_(5) loading 6.Owt.% and oxygen content 5%, the NOx reduction was higher to about 91%. The efficiency of porous silica on V₂O_(5)/TiO₂ catalytic disk-filter was higher than that of the V₂O_(5)/TiO₂ catalytic sphere-filter. It has been experimentally observed that the V₂O_(5)/TiO₂ catalytic disk-filter has strong resistance of gas flow.

Background: Here we report a rare case of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), which has been managed with repeated antibiotics for 2 years under the diagnosis of recurrent pneumonia. Results: 37 years old women has suffered from persistent sputum, cough and dyspnea since 4 years ago. Antibiotics were prescribed repeatedly because chest X-ray showed pneumonic consolidation for 2 years. She was referred because her symptoms and abnormal chest X-ray findings were not improved even with the IV antibiotics. She had the history of childhood asthma. However she has not been managed with anti-asthma medication, because she was free from asthma symptoms since 10 years old. Chest X-ray showed pneumonic consolidation in right upper lung and Left lower lung with bronchiectasis in both mid to lower lung zones. Laboratory tests revealed a leukocyte count of 5,980/uL (eosinophil 33.1%). A skin prick test showed positive results to Dermatophagoides farina (3+), Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (4+), and Aspergillus fumigates (3+). PFT showed restricted change: FVC 2.48L (69.2% predicted), FEV1 1.77L (56.8% predicted), FEV1/FVC 71.1%. Bronchodilator test was positive. Chest CT showed central bronchiecatsis with high attenuation mucus, and multifocal tubular/varicose bronchiectasis in both lungs, central and upper lung predominance The level of serum total IgE was 4,032 kU/L, and specific IgE to Aspergillus was 5.49 kUA/L (Class 3). Systemic steroid was administered under the impression of ABPA, and her symptoms and pneumonic consolidation were resolved. The level of total IgE was decreased to 783 kU/L after treatment with systemic steroid. Conclusions: In case of ABPA, early diagnosis and adequate treatment are very important to prevent development of fibrodestructive changes.

<P>A lottery draw machine-inspired novel movable air filter (MAF) system is presented in which MAFs are vigorously moved or rotated to generate a high electric field and capture particulate matter (PM) particles. The MAF system purified 500 mL of a hazardous level of PM particles (2016 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM10 and 1040 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM2.5) at a high flow rate of 2.5 m s<SUP>−1</SUP> with high removal efficiencies (99.7% and 98.8% for PM10 and PM2.5, respectively) in 1 min. The MAF system also had a small pressure drop of 3-6 Pa, which was approximately an order or orders of magnitude lower than previously reported values, even at a high flow rate of an order of magnitude higher than previously reported values. The MAF system exhibited excellent recyclability of up to 300 cycles with high removal efficiencies (99.7-98% and 98.8-96.2% for PM10 and PM2.5, respectively). Furthermore, the MAF system could effectively remove 500 mL of PM particles at extremely high concentrations (over 10 000 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM10 and over 3000 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM2.5) with very high efficiencies (over 99.8% and 99.6%, respectively) and a very low pressure drop (6 Pa), and these properties led to the conversion to clean ambient air (24 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM10 and 12 μg m<SUP>−3</SUP> PM2.5) in 15 min.</P>

<P>Magnetic sponges (MSs) and magnetic threads with hydrophilic and hydrophobic characteristics that can perform remote-controlled oil/water separation in a confined space and anaerobic reactions were prepared. For large amounts of water or oil, trainlike hydrophilic or hydrophobic MSs composed of more than three sponge balls moved as a group and quickly absorbed the water or oil droplets in oil or water by magnetic manipulation from outside of the tube. For the removal of heavy oils below the water in three-liquid multiphase solutions, the hydrophobic MS balls were moved to the heavy oil below the water, absorbed some of the heavy oil, and returned to the light oil layer to deliver the heavy oil by means of an external magnetic field. The mixed oils floating on the water were easily removed by a suction pump once the heavy oil had been completely delivered to the light oil layer via the round-trip process. Furthermore, our approach was demonstrated for use in an anaerobic reaction system due to the strong magnetic property that transfers the reactants/products, the porous structure providing a reaction site, and the prewetting ability containing the reactants/products of the MSs and the oil layer prohibiting oxygen contact.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The current of the water body is very important information for the water quality management on reservoirs. It is applied to hydraulics and water quality model for simulation. In this regard, the current characteristic of water body is the basic information that can be used to predict various conditions. However, it is very slow flowing and is affected by the reservoir operations and external factors. As such, an accurate measurement of the current is a difficult problem. In order to measure the water current, we constructed a drifter. According to the result of flow survey at Yongdam reservoir, 5m and 10 m depth layer flow was investigated from the upstream to the downstream, during a flood period. Maximum flow rate of 5 m depth is 13.8 cm sec-1 and 10 m depth shows 4 cm sec-1, respectively. But 2m depth shows a backward flow and maximum flow rate is 4 cm sec-1. Density currents flow plays the role of back flow in reservoirs. Flow velocity in the reservoir was measured in the range of 1~2 cm sec-1, at normal flow season, and the flow direction were different for each survey. This phenomenon occurs because the reservoir volume is very large, compared to the inflow and outflow volume.
Chemical Etching of NiFe and IrMn Thin Films

Wet chemical etching of NiFe and IrMn magnetic thin films was studied by using etchants containing HNO_3, HCI, H_2SO_4, H_3PO_4 and HF in terms of etch rate and etch profile. In the case of NiFe films, faster etching was attained in HNO_3 solution while HCI solution showed smooth etched surface. The white materials on etched surface were observed when NiFe films were etched in HCl solution. They were analyzed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and were confirmed to be the etch residues containing NiFe and Cl. IrMn films showed fast etching for all of the etchants used in this study and the partial cracks of the films were observed in HNO_3 and HCl solutions while HF solution etched the films smooth.

Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is a popular procedure for patients with lumbar instability with unilateral foraminal stenosis. Many complications can occur during the procedure. However, cage migration during the procedure is rarely reported. Anterior cage migrations can lead to catastrophic consequences due to the possibility of major vessel injuries. Here, we present a 76-year-old male patient whose cage extruded anteriorly during L5-S1 TLIF. Fortunately, he did not experience any life-threatening complications, and the migrated cage was visible just below the iliac vessels’ bifurcation site on computed tomography angiography. As an alternative, an emergency anterior lumbar interbody fusion was successfully performed, and the TLIF cage was removed during this procedure.

Acute pancreatitis is an uncommon side effect of pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) α-2b and ribavirin (RBV) combination therapy. In South Korea, There is a no report of acute pancreatitis associated PEG-IFN α-2b plus RBV combination therapy. Here, acute pancreatitis associated with PEG-IFN α-2b plus RBV treatment is described in two patients with chronic hepatitis C. We started on weekly subcutaneous injection of PEG-IFN α-2b plus daily RBV. During this therapy, acute pancreatitis occurred in these patients without other causes of acute pancreatitis. We thought that the cause of acute pancreatitis in these patients was PEG-IFN α-2b and RBV. We stopped the treatment of PEG-IFN α-2b and RBV, and patients were improved.
