가스터어빈 연소기의 형상 변화에 따른 화염안정성에 관한 실험적 연구

현대의 항공기용 가스터어빈 연소기의 설계에서 화염안정성은 가장 먼저 고려되어야 할 중요한 설계변수 중 하나이다. 연소기 형상에 대한 변화가 화염안정성에 미치는 영향을 이해하기 위해 단순화한 모델 연소기를 이용하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 동일한 면적 조건에서의 연소기 입구단 공기구멍의 갯수변화와 제1차 공기구멍열과 희석 공기구멍열의 축방향 위치변화를 변수로 고려하였다. 희박 연소 한계는 육안으로 측정하였으며 연료는 프로판을 사용하였다. 입구에서 제1차 공기구멍열까지의 거리 증가와 입구단 공기구멍의 갯수 감소로 좀 더 안정된 화염을 얻을 수 있었다. 희석 공기구명의 존재는 전체 공기구멍의 면적 증가비와 동일하게 화염안정성을 증가시켰으며 희석 공기구멍열의 위치는 화염안정성에 무관함을 알 수 있었다. In the design of modern aircraft gas turbine combustor, The flame stability has been one of major factors to be considered at the first step. To understand the effect of the variation in combustor geometry for flame stability, an experimental study was performed in a simple model combustor. A parametric variation in the number of combustor inlet air-holes at the condition of constant area and axial location of primary and dilution air-hole row was performed. Lean blow-out limit was measured by visual and propane was used as fuel. The increase in the length from inlet to primary row and decrease in the number of inlet air-holes lead to more stable flame. At the existence of dilution air-hole low, flame stability was increased the same ratio as total air-hole area. The location of dilution air-hole row was independent on flame stability.
일부 폐결핵환자의 HBs Ag. 발현빈도와 HBs Ag. 음양성자 간의 GOT 치와 GPT 치의 비교 검토

폐결핵환자 300명을 대상으로 HBs ag.와 GOT와 GPT치를 검사한 성적을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 폐결핵환자에서의 HBs ag. 양성율은 20%로서 대조군의 4.1%보다 유의하게 높았다(p<0.05). 2)HBs ag. 양성자의 GOT(43.2±2.0unit), GPT(29.3±1.8unit)치는 음성자의 GOT(35.4±1.3unit), GPT(19.3±1.9unit)치보다 다소 높은 경향을 보였다. 따라서 폐결핵환자 치료시에는 완전 멸균된 주사침을 사용해야 함은 물론 항결핵제가 간에 미치는 부작용을 감안 HBs ag.에 대한 검사를 반드시 실시해야 할 것이며 HBs ag.의 음양성이 GOT치나 GPT치에 큰 영양을 주지는 못하는 것으로 생각된다. This study was done to see HBs antigen positive rate of patients, with pulmonary tuberculosis, and to compare GOT, GPT levels between HBs antigen positive and negative patients. The results obtained were summarized as following: 1) As HBs antigen positive rate was 20% in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, it was significantly higher than HBs positive rate (4.1%) of control group. (P<0.05). 2) GOT, GPT levels of HBs antigen positive patients (GOT:41.3±2.0 unit, GPT:29.3±1.8 unit) had a slightly higher trend than those of HBs antigen negative ones. As the results of this study, when patients were medicated for pulmonary tuberculosis, needles completely sterilized should be used, also tests of HBs antigen had to be done in them, and it was thought that GOT, GPT levels were not largely influenced by occurrance of HBs antigen.

Uranium-containing aqueous wastes have been treated by electrosorption on a carbon electrode composed of activated carbon fibers(ACFs) in a continuous flow-through cell. Effective uranium (VI) removal is accomplished when a negative potential in the range of -0.3 to -0.9V (vs. Ag/AgCI) is applied to the carbon electrode. For a feed concentration of 350mg/l, the concentration of U(VI) in the cell effluent is reduced to less than lmg/l. Electrosorption capacity over 552 mg_uranium/g_ACF is reached.
The Effect of Group Exercise Program on Cognitive Function of Elderly people

The goal of this study was to assess the effect of a group exercise program on cognitive function of elderly people. Subjects were chosen to be elders with dementia having minor to moderate degrees of cognitive function. Study was started out by randomly dividing the 16 subjects into two groups, each with 8 people; the group exercise group and the control group. The group exercise group performed 8 weeks of group exercise program and general physiotherapy while the control group only performed general physiotherapy. Cognitive function was measured by Korean version mini-mental state examination. The study group's attention and calculation statistically significantly improved but the control group saw no statistically significant change. The group exercise program affected improvement in cognitive function of elderly people with dementia and in particular, was effective for enhancing their attention and calculation.

<P>Rice (Oryza sativa), a monocotyledonous plant that does not cold acclimate, has evolved differently from Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), which cold acclimates. To understand the stress response of rice in comparison with that of Arabidopsis, we developed transgenic rice plants that constitutively expressed CBF3/DREB1A (CBF3) and ABF3, Arabidopsis genes that function in abscisic acid-independent and abscisic acid-dependent stress-response pathways, respectively. CBF3 in transgenic rice elevated tolerance to drought and high salinity, and produced relatively low levels of tolerance to low-temperature exposure. These data were in direct contrast to CBF3 in Arabidopsis, which is known to function primarily to enhance freezing tolerance. ABF3 in transgenic rice increased tolerance to drought stress alone. By using the 60 K Rice Whole Genome Microarray and RNA gel-blot analyses, we identified 12 and 7 target genes that were activated in transgenic rice plants by CBF3 and ABF3, respectively, which appear to render the corresponding plants acclimated for stress conditions. The target genes together with 13 and 27 additional genes are induced further upon exposure to drought stress, consequently making the transgenic plants more tolerant to stress conditions. Interestingly, our transgenic plants exhibited neither growth inhibition nor visible phenotypic alterations despite constitutive expression of the CBF3 or ABF3, unlike the results previously obtained from Arabidopsis where transgenic plants were stunted.</P>

Inhibitors of histone deacetylases (HDACs) have been shown to induce differentiation and/or apoptosis of human tumor cells. Novel 3-(4-substituted-phenyl)-N-hydroxy-2-propenamides have been prepared as a new class of HDAC inhibitors and evaluated for their antiproliferative activity and HDAC inhibitory activity. Incorporation of a 1,4-phenylene carboxamide linker, shown by 5, and a 4-(dimethylamino)phenyl or 4-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)phenyl group as a cap substructure generated highly potent hydroxamic acid-based HDAC inhibitors 5a and 5b.

In this study, we investigated the anti-proliferative effect of Damina 909 in human cancer cell lines and tumor-xenografted nude mice to elucidate its potential in treating many cancers. Damina 909 treatment resulted in inhibition of cell proliferation of human pancreatic cancer cells. Our in vivo study showed that the weight of pancreatic tumors in Damina 909-treated group were the lighter than control group. Consequently, the intake of food and water in Damina 909-treated group did not change, while those in control group were steadily decreased over a period of treatment. Moreover, Damina 909 treatment elevated the protein expression of p53 and p21 in pancreatic tumor of xenografted nude mice. In summary, compare to other human cancer cells such as prostate and hepatocyte, Damina 909 is most effectively inhibited proliferation of pancreatic cancer cells by increasing the expression of tumor suppressor genes. This led us to speculate that a candidate substance for effective cancer therapy of pancreatic cancer might be contained in Damina 909.
