The Essential Prerequisites of Agile Transition and Adoption: a Grounded Theory Approach

        ( Taghi Javdani Gandomani ),( Mina Ziaei Nafchi ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 인터넷정보학회논문지 Vol.17 No.5

Prevalence of Agile methods in software companies is increasing dramatically. Software companies need to employ these methods to overcome the inherent challenges of traditional methods. However, transitioning to Agile approach is a topic of debate and there is no unique and well-defined transition model or framework yet. Although some research studies have addressed barriers and strengths behind the successful Agile deployment, it seems that this process still needs to be studied more in depth. The rationale behind this is the socio-technical nature of Agile transition and adoption. Particularly, the challenges and problems that software companies are facing during Agile transition, show that this process in more difficult than expected. Conducting a large-scale research study revealed that Agile transition and adoption process needs to be supported by several critical prerequisites. This study adopted a Ground Theory with the participation of 49 Agile experts from 13 different countries and empirically identified seven transition prerequisites. These prerequisites focus on the different aspects of the transition. The main aim of this paper is proposing these prerequisites and theoretical and practical implication of these prerequisites. Providing these prerequisites before moving to Agile increases chance of success in Agile transition and adoption and leads to fewer challenges during the change process.

      • A Case Study Research on Software Cost Estimation Using Experts’ Estimates, Wideband Delphi, and Planning Poker Technique

Taghi Javdani Gandomani,Koh Tieng Wei,Abdulelah Khaled Binhamid 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.8 No.11

This Article shows a Case Study research that is performed to compare effectiveness of the Planning Poker and Wideband Delphi in two case studies. Although, Wide Band Delphi has been proposed many years ago and has enough supports in both industry and academic area but, Planning Poker is somewhat new. The study showed that applying these techniques in two companies which were using expert’s view for software cost estimation, increased the accuracy of cost estimation. Also, the results showed that Planning Poker led to better accuracy comparing to Wideband Delphi. However, this accuracy is not too much than Wideband Delphi, it was important that Planning Poker led to reducing financial risks of the projects comparing to Wideband Delphi. The study also showed that both Wideband Delphi and Planning Poker reduced the underestimates significantly.

A Randomized Clinical Trial to Assess the Effect of Medication Therapy Plus tDCS on Problem-solving and Emotion Regulation of Patients with Bipolar Disorder Type I

        Parnaz Mardani,Hossein Javdani,Ahmad Zolghadriha,Seyedeh Elnaz Mousavi,Mohsen Dadashi 대한정신약물학회 2023 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.21 No.3

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of medication therapy combined with transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in improving problem-solving and emotion regulation abilities of patients with bipolar disorder (BD) type I. Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial conducted on 30 patients with BD I, randomly assigned into two groups of Medication (n = 15, receiving mood stabilizers including 2−5 tablets of lithium 300 mg, sodium valproate 200 mg, and carbamazepine 200 mg) and Medication + tDCS (n = 15, receiving mood stabilizers plus tDCS with 2 mA intensity over the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex for 10 days, two sessions per day each for 20 minutes). The Tower of London (TOL) test and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) were used for assessments before, immediately, and 3 months after interventions. Results: There was a significant difference between groups in total ERQ (p = 0.001) and its cognitive reappraisal domain (p = 0.000) which were increased, but the difference was not significant in its expressive suppression domain (p > 0.05). After 3 months, their level decreased. In examining problem-solving variable, the combined therapy could significantly reduce only the total number of errors under TOL test (p = 0.00), but it remained unchanged after 3 months. Conclusion: Medication therapy plus tDCS is effective in improving problem-solving and emotional regulation (cognitive reappraisal) skills of patients with BD I.

The antinociceptive effect of artemisinin on the inflammatory pain and role of GABAergic and opioidergic systems

Dehkordi, Faraz Mahdian,Kaboutari, Jahangir,Zendehdel, Morteza,Javdani, Moosa The Korean Pain Society 2019 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.32 No.3

Background: Pain is a complex mechanism which involves different systems, including the opioidergic and GABAergic systems. Due to the side effects of chemical analgesic agents, attention toward natural agents have been increased. Artemisinin is an herbal compound with widespread modern and traditional therapeutic indications, which its interaction with the GABAergic system and antinoniceptive effects on neuropathic pain have shown. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the antinociceptive effects of artemisinin during inflammatory pain and interaction with the GABAergic and opioidergic systems by using a writhing response test. Methods: On the whole, 198 adult male albino mice were used in 4 experiments, including 9 groups (n = 6) each with three replicates, by intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of artemisinin (2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg), naloxone (2 mg/kg), bicuculline (2 mg/kg), saclofen (2 mg/kg), indomethacin (5 mg/kg), and ethanol (10 mL/kg). Writhing test responses were induced by i.p. injection of 10 mL/kg of 0.6% acetic acid, and the percentage of writhing inhibition was recorded. Results: Results showed significant dose dependent anti-nociceptive effects from artemisinin which, at a 10 mg/kg dose, was statistically similar to indomethacin. Neither saclofen nor naloxone had antinociceptive effects and did not antagonize antinociceptive effects of artemisinin, whereas bicuculline significantly inhibited the antinocicptive effect of artemisinin. Conclusions: It seems that antinocicptive effects of artemisinin are mediated by $GABA_A$ receptors.

      • DPPA2 Protein Expression is Associated with Gastric Cancer Metastasis

Shabestarian, Hoda,Ghodsi, Mohammad,Mallak, Afsaneh Javdani,Jafarian, Amir Hossein,Montazer, Mehdi,Forghanifard, Mohammad Mahdi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.18

Gastric cancer (GC) as the fourth most common cause of malignancies shows high rate of morbidity appropriating the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Developmental pluripotency associated-2 (DPPA2), cancer-testis antigen (CT100), is commonly expressed only in the human germ line and pluripotent embryonic cells but it is also present in a significant subset of malignant tumors. To investigate whether or not DPPA2 expression is recalled in GC, our aim in this study was to elucidate DPPA2 protein expression in gastric cancer. Fifty five GC tumor and their related margin normal tissues were recruited to evaluate DPPA2 protein expression and its probable associations with different clinicopathological features of the patients. DPPA2 was overexpressed in GC cases compared with normal tissues (P < .005). While DPPA2 expression was detected in all GC samples, its high expression was found in 23 of 55 tumor tissues (41.8%). Interestingly, 50 of 55 normal samples (90.9%) were negative for DPPA2 protein expression and remained 5 samples showed very low expression of DPPA2. DPPA2 protein expression in GC was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis (p = 0.012). The clinical relevance of DPPA2 in GC illustrated that high level expression of this protein was associated with lymph node metastasis supporting this hypothesis that alteration in DPPA2 was associated with aggressiveness of gastric cancer and may be an early event in progression of the disease. DPPA2 may be introduced as a new marker for invasive and metastatic GCs.

Microstructure and Homogeneity of Semi-Solid 7075 Aluminum Tubes Processed by Parallel Tubular Channel Angular Pressing

        Ramin Meshkabadi,Ghader Faraji,Akbar Javdani,Ali Fata,Vahid Pouyafar 대한금속·재료학회 2017 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.23 No.5

Semi-solid processing is a new developing technology for the fabrication of intricate parts at low temperatures incomparison with conventional casting routes. In this research, a parallel tubular channel angular pressing (PTCAP)was used as a pre strain-inducing process, and the influence of the number of PTCAP passes and semi-solid heatingparameters on the microstructural characteristics of Al7075 tubes was investigated. The results demonstratedthat PTCAP process could successfully be used as a best pre-straining method for tubular samples showing semisolidmicrostructures. As the temperature is increased, the solid particle size first decreased, then increased, andgradually became more spherical. The appropriate condition for the subsequent semi-solid forming process wasgained at reheating temperature of 620 oC. The suitability of this temperature was confirmed by the uniform distributionof grains. The grain size and shape factor both increased along with increasing the holding time. The distributionof the solid particles was strongly dependent upon the holding time and became uniform as the holdingtime increased. Comparison of the grain size and shape factor between ECAPed and PTCAPed samples revealed ahigh capacity of the PTCAP process as a strain-inducing stage. Also the two-pass PTCAP samples exhibitedhigher hardness than one-pass treated samples in the semi-solid state.
