        Legal Origins Theory, Economic Development and Competition Law - Canada and Korea

        Legal Origins Theory is a relatively recent school of thought developed by law and finance scholars within the framework of comparative legal studies. The proponents of the Theory posit that societies with different legal origins are associated with different legal rules, and these differently formed legal rules lead to different economic outcomes. The basic conclusion of the Theory suggest that common law based countries tend to do better as shown by economic indicators compared to civil law countries. The focus of this paper is to examine the Theory’s findings in two stages. First, it will consider whether the Theory can be used to explain the rapid economic development of Korea over the last few decades. Second, this paper will examine whether competition (fair trade) law falls within the ambit of the Theory. This paper attempts to arrive at the conclusion that different stages of economic development would better explain (rather than legal origins) the need and development of laws governing economic development. The framework of analysis is adopted from the work of Christopher A. Whytock, which I refer to as modified functional approach.

      • Drum구조 제동장치의 온도 변화에 따른 Clearance(Airgap) 보상 구현

        전자식 주차 제동 장치(이하 EPB)는 크게 캘리퍼 타입과 드럼 타입으로 나뉘며 제품 타입에 따라 동작 방식에 있어 차이가 있다. 드럼 타입의 경우 드럼 디스크의 형상이 온도가 상승함에 따라 외방향으로 팽창하고, 온도가 다시 상온으로 하강 시 내방향으로 수축된다. 전류를 통해 제어하는 체결(이하 Apply) 동작에서는 온도 특성에 영향이 크게 없으나, 시간 기반으로 제어하는 해제(이하 Release) 동작에서는 드럼 디스크의 팽창과 수축에 따라 드럼 내벽면과 슈 앗세이 사이의 간극(이하 clearance)이 충분히 확보되지 않을 수 있다. 가령 고온 상태에서의 Apply, Release 후 상온 상태에서 차량을 운용한다면 주행 중 의도치 않은 제동 마찰(이하 드래그) 현상이 발생할 수 있으며 이 드래그 현상은 차량 화재 발생 등 안전사고를 야기할 수도 있는 문제이기에 해결해야하는 중요한 사안이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 드래그 현상을 방지하기 위해 clearance를 확보하는 보상 알고리즘을 구현한다. 드럼타입 브레이크의 온도 상승분(△T)에 따른 열팽창 정도를 계측하여 이를 기반으로 Release 보상 인자(고온 보상 MAP)를 정의한다. 고온 상태에서의 Apply 시 고온 보상 flag를 set 하고 온도 하강 전 Release시 해당 시점 온도에 상응하는 MAP의 factor만큼 Clearance를 추가 확보한다.

        A Theory of Interface between Polymer and Polymer Mixture

        We present a theoretical study of the non-symmetrical A/BC polymeric system. The polymer blends consist of two phases, a pure polymeric phase A on one side and a mixture of polymers B as a compatibilizer and C on the other. The adsorption of homopolymer B to the interface improves the interfacial adhesion between two phases. By employing the functional integral techniques, we derive the mean-field equations and solve them numerically to obtain the interfacial properties including the concentration profiles in the limit of infinite molecular weight for the polymers. Thecalculations of the interfacial properties are performed for typical values of the Flory X parameters and the volume fraction of polymer B in the asymptotic mixture phase. The interfacial adsorption of polymer B and the degrees of the specific interaction between the polymers play an important role in modification of the interfacial properties.

        Analysis of Greater Tuberosity from the Center of the Humeral Head: Progression to Femoralization

        Background: Progression of the tear size and erosion of the greater tuberosity (femoralization) in the supraspinatus tear makes it difficult to repair or increases the risk of a re-tear. This study examined the proximal articular surface and greater tuberosity of the humeral head in plain radiography. Methods: Two-hundred forty-seven cases, whose anteroposterior (AP) radiographs were taken correctly, were included from 288 cases, in whom the status of the supraspinatus had been confirmed by surgery. After downloading the plain AP radiograph as DICOM, the radius of the circle apposed at the superior half of the articular surface of the head, and the distance between the circle and the farthest point of the greater tuberosity (‘height’ of the greater tuberosity) were calculated using the software (TechHime, Korea). MRI checked the number of torn tendons and degree of muscular atrophy. Results: The following were encountered: 93 intact supraspinatus, 50 partial-thickness tears, and 104 full-thickness tears. In the analysis using the 93 intact cases, the average radius of the rotation center was 25.3 mm in male and 22.3 mm in female. The average height of the greater tuberosity from the circle with the same rotation center was 4.3 mm in male and 4.2 mm in female with no statistical significance. The correlation between the reparability of supraspinatus and height of the greater tuberosity, fatty infiltration, and muscular atrophy was confirmed. Conclusions: The height of the greater tuberosity from the circle with the same rotation center was 4.3 mm in male and 4.2 mm in female. This height was strongly correlated with muscular atrophy and fatty infiltration of the supraspinatus tendon.

        장요근을 대상으로 한의학적 치료를 시행한 국내외 임상연구 동향 분석

        Objectives The objective of this study was to investigate clinical the trends of Korean medicine treatments for iliopsoas muscle. Methods 6 Korean and foreign on-line databases were researched for articles discussing Korean medicine treatments for iliopsoas muscle. The included studies were classified according to the published years, study designs, techniques of treatment and evaluation method. Results The total number of studies selected was 12, which included 8 case reports, 2 randomized controlled trials (RCT), and 2 non-RCT. In these studies, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, Chuna, and herbal medicine were used for treatment. Most studies used visual analogue scale as primary outcome. Conclusions Based on the results of the collected studies, we analyzed the clinical trends of Korean medicine treatments for iliopsoas muscle. The results showed that a variety of Korean medicine treatments can be applied to the iliopsoas muscle and positive effects can be confirmed. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2024;34(1):39-47)

      • 라그랑지안 접근법을 이용한 다차원 형상 추진제의 후퇴 모사

        Partial Interface Tracking Method를 이용하여 다차원 고체로켓 모터의 추진제 후퇴모사를 구현하였다. 이 방법은 Lagrangian Approach를 X-Y평면의 축대칭 영역과 Y-Z평면의 Fin 영역에 각각 적용하여 다차원 형상의 추진제를 후퇴 모사하는 방법이다. 이렇게 함으로써 각 평면의 2D 후퇴만으로 3D 형상의 후퇴모사가 가능하였으며, 일반적인 Lagrangian approach와는 달리 노드 사이의 거리만으로 후퇴여부를 판별하여 진행함으로써 매우 짧은 시간 내에 후퇴 모사를 수행할 수 있었다. 이 방법의 유효성을 검증하기 위하여 계산 결과를 CONOCYL, FINOCYL 형상 및 알려진 결과와 비교 검토하였으며 잘 일치하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 계산 시간도 타 방법과 비교하여 매우 빠름을 확인하였다. The evolution of multi-dimensional grain of solid rocket motor propellant was carried out by using Partial Interface Tracking method which respectively applies Marker Particle method to axisymmetric area of X-Y plane and fin area of Y-Z plane to analyze the multi-dimensional grain burnback. Lagrangian approach is an effective way for simulating axisymmetric or 2D shape of grain, but it is difficult to apply to 3D shape. Therefore Partial Interface Tracking method is designed to solve such a problem and to get solutions in a short time. To verify the method, the results had been compared with CONOCYL, FINOCYL and previous published works and shown good agreement. Also, it was confirmed that the calculation time was very short compared with the other methods.

        고관절 골절 수술 이후 광선치료를 포함한 한방치료 3예 보고

        This study is designed to report three cases of postoperative care after hip surgery using conventional Korean Medicine treatments including phototherapy. Three patients undergone hip fracture surgery were treated with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and phototherapy. We used Visual analogue scale (VAS), EuroQol five dimension scale (EQ-5D), and hip disability and osteoarthritis outcome score (HOOS) to evaluate treatment effectiveness. After the treatment, VAS score was improved in all three cases, while EQ-5D and HOOS showed different results by items. EQ-5D (pain/discomfort) and HOOS (pain, symptoms, activities of daily living) were improved in all three cases. EQ-5D (self-care) and HOOS (quality of life) showed improvements in two cases. EQ-5D (mobility, usual activities, anxiety/depression) and HOOS (sports/recreation) were improved in one case. Conventional Korean Medicine treatments including phototherapy can be effectively used to alleviate pain and symptoms after hip fracture surgery. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2018;28(4):113-124)

        국내 학술지에 게재된 합곡혈 임상연구 동향

        Objectives : Hapgok (LI4) is one of the most widely used acupoints in clinical practice. This study aims to investigate the trend of clinical studies including LI4 acupoint stimulation in Korea. Methods : Papers of clinical researches including LI4 acupoint stimulation in Korean journals were searched in Korean databases of Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, Korean Studies Information Service System, Korea Citation Index, DBpia, Research Information Sharing Service, and ScienceON. The papers were then analyzed focusing on the number of publications by year, the types of the clinical research, interventions, research topics, institutes, and journals. Results : A total of 154 publications were included in this study. The first paper was published in 1981, and the number of papers has gradually increased since the 1990s. Although LI4 acupoint stimulation was included, most of the papers had additional acupoints and interventions. Diseases of the nervous system were the most common, followed by diseases of the digestive system and diseases of the circulatory system. Kyung Hee University is the institution that published the most papers, and the journal that published the most papers is The Journal of Korean Oriental Internal Medicine. Conclusions : Since the 1990s, the number of clinical studies on LI4 acupoint has increased. However, the results of the studies are insufficient to prove the efficacy of LI4 acupoint because most of the studies were case reports using additional acupoints and interventions. Therefore, more rigorous studies are needed to prove the efficacy of LI4 acupoint.
