Background/Aims: In inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), repeated bouts of remission and relapse occur in patients and can impose a risk of colitis-associated cancer. We hy-pothesized that plant extracts of Atractylodes macrocephala (AM) or Taraxacum herba (TH) may be better than sulfasala-zine for treating this disease because these extracts can promote additional regeneration. Methods: Murine intestinal epithelial IEC-6 cells were pretreated with AM or TH before a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced challenge. Acute colitis was induced with 7 days of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in male C57BL/6 mice, and extracts of AM and TH were admin-istered for 2 weeks before DSS administration. Results: In vitro studies demonstrated that AM or TH treatment reduced LPS-induced COX-2 and tumor necrosis factor-α mRNA levels but increased heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). Oral preadministra-tion of AM and TH rescued mice from DSS-induced colitis by inhibiting inflammatory mediators via inactivated extracel-lular signal regulated kinase and repressed nuclear factor κB and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, but the effect was weaker for sulfasalazine than that for the extracts. Anti-inflammatory activities occurred via the inhibi-tion of macrophage and T lymphocyte infiltrations. Unlike sul-fasalazine, which did not induce HO-1, TH extracts afforded significant HO-1 induction. Conclusions: Because the AM or TH extracts were far superior in preventing DSS-induced colitis than sulfasalazine, AM or TH extracts can be consid-ered natural agents that can prevent IBD relapse. Solvothermal Synthesis of Copper Indium Diselenide in Toluene

Polycrystalline CuInSe2 (CIS) was synthesized through solvothermal reactions in toluene with selected alkyl amines as complexing agents. The alkyl amines were used as reducing agent of selenium and catalytic ligands, enhancing the formation of CIS compounds in the colloidal solution. Toluene does not contribute the syntheses directly but minimizes the amounts of amines required for single phase CIS. We systematically studied the reactivity of amine compounds for the solovothermal syntheses, determined critical concentration of amine and the shortest reaction time. Crystallinity, morphology, chemical composition, and band gap of the prepared CuInSe2 were respectively measured by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy.
Long lasting mesalazine-induced pancytopenia in a patient with ulcerative colitis

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an immune-mediated chronic inflammatory intestinal condition. With development of various treatment options for IBD, 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) agents became the drugs of choice due to high efficacy and low risk of complication, specifically effective at inducing and maintaining remission in ulcerative colitis(UC). Pancytopenia caused by 5-ASA agents, especially by mesalazine, has been rarely reported compared with azathioprine, which is commonly used for glucocorticoid-dependent IBD and known to have risk of bone marrow suppression. In the present report, we describe the case of a 57-year-old woman diagnosed with UC, who developed pancytopenia due to adverse effect of mesalazine after recovery from azathioprine-induced pancytopenia. After withdrawal of mesalazine, the laboratory values consistent with myelosuppression continued for 3 months while pancytopenia from azathioprine remained only for 2 weeks. Since pancytopenia can be fatal due to its risk of severe bleeding and infection, close monitoring of clinical presentation is important when starting mesalazine and laboratory data should be evaluated whenever the patients present related symptoms. Furthermore, we suggest that complete blood cell counts should be considered when resuming mesalazine following the development of pancytopenia from any cause, as routinely recommended for azathioprine use.
AR 기술의 시스템 구성요소와 프로그램 동향에 관한 연구

This study examines the concept and overall system of AR technology and classifies the program cases used for the past two years and examines their characteristics. The method and scope of the study proceeded as follows. Firstly, the concept and necessity of AR technology was summarized and examined. Secondly, we classify AR technology systems and accordingly investigate both hardware and software. Thirdly, the research on convergence technologies related to the design process using AR technology suggested the direction for future research. As a result, AR technology does not simply exist as an object, but various technologies are combined to demonstrate its utility. Not only the development of programs in charge of software, but also the devices for realizing and outputting them, that is, the development of hardware, is required. This development is happening in many areas at the same time, so it is important to understand the flow and to find out how to use it in design.
