Study on the surface pressure distribution of cubes in cross-wind arrays
Lim, H.-C.,Tsukamoto, K.,Ohba, M.,Mizutani, K. Elsevier Scientific Pub. Co 2014 Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodyn Vol.133 No.-
In this study, effects of the gap on equal-spaced cubical bodies (150mmx150mmx150mm) placed in a turbulent boundary layer were investigated inside an atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel. This study includes various measurements of surface-pressure distribution around a building in close proximity to surrounding obstacles. In addition, we examined the surface-pressure variation with cube distances (G) at 75mm (0.5h), 150mm (1h), 225mm (1.5h) and ~ (i.e., a single cube). The experiments conducted included some boundary layer wind tunnel tests with Hot Wire Anemometry (HWA) and mean and fluctuating surface-pressure measurements around a set of cubes aligned in parallel. The tunnel tests were carried out at two different Reynolds numbers (Re=4.6x104 and 6.7x104), based on wind velocity Uh (4.5m/s and 7.3m/s) at a cube height h. On analyzing the results, we discovered that the gap effect of surrounding models has a significant influence on the pressure variation around the central model. The overall surface-pressure coefficient around the central structure was generally found to increase as the gap (G) between the structures was increased.

It is necessary for lower grade students to study the correct usage of tools as a base of the technical education for dismantling and assembling various machines. However, enough understanding has not been obtained though the usage of these tools when training first grade students. So, we started to develop a teaching text and materials within the students practice curriculum based on the dismantling and assembly of all-terrain vehicle [ATV] s, which is a very motivating for lower grade students. This practice makes the student learn both how to use the tools and the steering mechanism of cars through the dismantling and assembling of the ATV. It is possible to not only have the student learn about the knowledge obtained through the practice, but also they also acquire wider and deeper knowledge through making the text and teaching materials for the practice. The textbook and secondary educational materials of this practice curriculum were created in cooperation with a fifth grade student as part of their graduation research. As a result, an effective teaching and learning text and secondary educational material regarding manufacturing practice could be developed from the student s point of view. Making a teaching text and materials is effective for promoting the study and experience of engineering.
Fluorinated Metal Hydrides for the Catalytic Hydrolysis of Metal - Hydrogen Complexes
Suda, S,Zhou, Y,Sun, Y M,Uchida, M,Liu, B H,Mormitu, S,Arai, K,Tsukamoto, N,Candra, Y,LI, Z P 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 2001 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.7 No.1
This paper is related to the hydrogen storage (H-storage) system composed of an alkaline solution that contains metal-hydrogen complex ions. The BH₄^--complex ions stabilized when it is dissolved in aqueous KOH or NaOH to form homogeneous solutions. However, it is necessary to apply an appropriate catalyst for a high rate generation of hydrogen under atmospheric pressure and temperature conditions. The authors intended to develop catalysts suitable for the hydrolysis of BH₄^--complex ion solutions and found that Mg₂Ni exhibits excellent catalytic functions in the hydrolysis, in particular, after the fluorination treatment (F-treatment). In this work, the effects of F-treatment on the rates of hydrolysis were evaluated between the hydrided and unhydrided Mg₂Ni. No hydrogenation in addition to F-treatment is required in view of hydrolysis kinetics and cost-effectiveness.

Recently, the tendency for young people losing interest in science has accelerated. This tendency is remarkable for not only Japan but also some countries of Asia. It is thought that this tendency was brought from the decrease of the chance to watch the actual manufacturing activities, and the decrease of the real experience which children makes something in their childhood. In order to bring up the capable engineers on such a social background, making a product practice which promotes the understanding of the application of theory for manufacturing products is important in addition to study by the text book. In this study, some practical work materials for the lower grades in the college were developed. Integration of the developed materials and the course of study becomes an effective teaching method of the of subjects on a special field. Arranging this practical work on the learning process makes a high effect of the integrated practical work on the curriculum.
