Background: Factors predictive of survival have been identified in Western patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (mCCRCC) treated with sunitinib. Less is known, however, about factors predictive of survival in Japanese patients. This study evaluated factors prognostic of survival in Japanese patients with mCCRCC treated with first-line sunitinib. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 46 consecutive Japanese mCCRCC patients treated with sunitinib as first line therapy. Clinical and biochemical markers associated with progression-free survival (PFS) were analyzed, with prognostic factors selected by uniand multivariate Cox regression analyses. Results: Univariate analysis showed that factors significantly associated with poor PFS included Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center poor risk scores, International Metastatic RCC Database Consortium poor risk and high (>0.5 mg/dl) serum C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations (p<0.001 each). Multivariate analysis showed that high serum CRP was independently associated with poorer PFS (p=0.040). Six month disease control rate (complete response, partial response and stable disease) in response to sunitinib was significantly higher in patients with normal (${\leq}0.5mg/dl$) than elevated baseline CRP (p<0.001). Conclusions: CRP is a significant independent predictor of PFS for Japanese patients with mCCRCC treated with first-line sunitinib. Pretreatment CRP concentration may be a useful biomarker predicting response to sunitinib treatment.
A Primary Role for Nucleus Accumbens and Related Limbic Network in Vocal Tics

<P>Inappropriate vocal expressions, e.g., vocal tics in Tourette syndrome, severely impact quality of life. Neural mechanisms underlying vocal tics remain unexplored because no established animal model representing the condition exists. We report that unilateral disinhibition of the nucleus accumbens (NAc) generates vocal tics in monkeys. Whole-brain PET imaging identified prominent, bilateral limbic cortico-subcortical activation. Local field potentials (LFPs) developed abnormal spikes in the NAc and the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). Vocalization could occur without obvious LFP spikes, however, when phase-phase coupling of alpha oscillations were accentuated between the NAc, ACC, and the primary motor cortex. These findings contrasted with myoclonic motor tics induced by disinhibition of the dorsolateral putamen, where PET activity was confined to the ipsilateral sensorimotor system and LFP spikes always preceded motor tics. We propose that vocal tics emerge as a consequence of dysrhythmic alpha coupling between critical nodes in the limbic and motor networks.</P>

We have studied the circularly polarized photoluminescence (PL) and reflectance properties of a series of ZnSe/ZnCdSe/ZnSe/ZnMnSe single quantum wells (SQWs) and ZnSe/ZnCdSe/ ZnSe/ZnCdMnSe /ZnSe coupled double quantum wells (DQWs). The degree of circular polarization of the exciton luminescence from the ZnCdSe non-magnetic semiconductor (NMS) well was studied as a function of the spacer layer thickness and the exciton energies in the NMS and the diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) regions. The polarization degree became larger as the spacer thickness became smaller. The polarization also depended on the excito n energies in the NMS and the DMS regions and became larger as the exciton energy in the nCdSe well became closer to that in the DMS layer or the DMS well.

Ga-doped zinc-oxide (GZO) films grown under various Ga/Zn supply ratios were carefully characterized by using Hall measurements and optical transmittance measurements to investigate the electrical and the optical properties of the GZO films on glass, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polycarbonate (PC) substrates. The resistivity of the GZO films grown at 290 ℃ on glass substrates ranged from 4 × 10-2 cm to 3 × 10-4 cm for Ga/Zn supply ratios from 0 % to 0.5 %. The growth of the GZO films at a low temperature of 90 ℃ was also performed on glass, PET, and PC substrates. When the Ga/Zn supply ratios were 0.05 - 0.1 %, the 90 ℃-grown GZO films on glass substrates showed resistivities similar to those of 290 ℃-grown GZO films. The 90 ℃-grown GZO films on PET and PC substrates showed resistivities of 1 × 10-3 cm and 4 × 10-4 cm, respectively. The Hall carrier density was 8 × 1020 cm-3, which was almost the same value as that of the 90 ℃-grown GZO films on glass substrates. The GZO films on PET and PC substrates also showed visible transparency as good as that of the GZO films on glass substrates, and the average transmittance in the visible region was higher than 85 %.
Numerical Prediction of Cavitating Flow inside Nozzle Hole Based on Cavitation Bubble Dynamics

In direct injection engines, fuel spray atomization is very important factor for the formation of fuel/air mixture, which influences on the engine performance and exhaust emissions of engine out. Especially, cavitation bubbles breaking out inside the nozzle hole have the significant role for spray atomization process. The purpose of this research is to make the effect of the cavitation on the fuel spray atomization clearly. The numerical model based on the bubble dynamics was proposed in this report, where the behavior of cavitation bubbles is treated as a function of pressure inside the nozzle hole. The prediction of bubble behavior under various conditions in the case of a single bubble was carried out by use of pressure distributions estimated through the experimental results. Primary, the processes of bubble growth and its shrinkage were calculated for each test fuel at given injection pressure. Secondary, the behavior of cavitation bubble was simulated for various initial bubble radiuses. As results of these calculations, although the position of bubble collapsing inside the nozzle hole does not coincide with experimental results, this proposed model predicts quantitatively the temporal change in bubble radius for each case.
Functional equations for double series of Euler type with coefficients
Choie, Y.,Matsumoto, K. Academic Press ; Elsevier Science B.V. Amsterdam 2016 Advances in mathematics Vol.292 No.-
<P>We prove two types of functional equations for double series of Euler type with complex coefficients. The first one is a generalization of the functional equation for the Euler double zeta-function, proved in a former work of the second-named author. The second one is more specific, which is proved when the coefficients are Fourier coefficients of cusp forms and the modular relation is essentially used in the course of the proof. As a consequence of functional equation we are able to determine trivial zero divisors. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.</P>
