<P>Abstract: </P><P>Gemifloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent that exhibits potent activity against most Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms, and has a comparatively low chondrotoxic potential in immature animals. This study examined the effects of gemifloxacin on the Achilles tendons in immature Sprague-Dawley rats treated by oral intubation once daily for 5 consecutive days from postnatal week 4 onward at doses of 0 (vehicle), and 600 mg/kg body weight. Ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin were used for comparison. The Achilles tendon specimens were examined by electron microscopy. In comparison with the vehicle-treated controls, there were ultrastructural changes in all samples from the gemifloxacin-, ofloxacin-, and ciprofloxacin-treated rats. Degenerative changes were observed in the tenocytes, and the cells that detached from the extracellular matrix were recognizable. The degree of degenerative changes and the number of degenerated cells in the Achilles tendon were significantly higher in the treated group than in the control group. Moreover, among the quinolone-treated groups, these findings were most significant in the ofloxacin-treated group, and least significant in the gemifloxacin-treated group. It is unclear what these findings mean with respect to the possible risk in juvenile patients treated with gemifloxacin or other quinolones. However, these results show that gemifloxacin causes less changes in the connective tissue structures.</P>

Superoxide radical scavenging activity and DPPH radical scavenging activity were assessed in order to evaluate the antioxidant effect of the Sorbus commixta Hedl. extract (SCoE). SCoE was also treated with several carbohydrate-hydrolytic enzymes that significantly increased the total phenol and flavonoid composition of SCoE. The enzymatically treated SCoE was then assessed for antioxidative activity. The most efficient radical scavenging activity was observed when SCoE was treated with -glucanase. The radical scavenging activity of ${\beta}-glucanase-treated$ SCoE (${\beta}-GSCoE$) enhanced the viability of human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs) exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. The intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging activity of ${\beta}-GSCoE$ was assessed using UVB (20 $mJ/cm^2$)-irradiated HDFs. UVB irradiation increased dichlorofluorescein (DCF) fluorescence, which was measured by a 5-(6-)chloromethyl-2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate ($CM-H_2DCFDA$). DCF-fluorescence was significantly decreased in the ${\beta}-GSCoE-containing$ culture medium, suggesting that ${\beta}-GSCoE$ scavenges free radicals. The protective effect was further verified by assessing the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) in UVA-irradiated HDFs. The treatment of UVA-irradiated HDFs with ${\beta}-GSCoE$ resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in the expression level of MMP-1 protein and mRNA. These results suggest that ${\beta}-GSCoE$ may mitigate the effects of photoaging in skin by reducing UV-induced adverse skin reactions.

Vegetation composition and structure of forest community at the forest genetic resources reserve, Sokwang-Ri, Uljin-Gun in Korea, were studied using a qualitative with a quantitative approach and its vegetation types and various ecological characteristics such as the importance values(1.V.), interspecific similarity and constancy classes of the major component species analyzed. 146 releves were sampled with 100㎡ square plots. Forest community were identified greatly as two types of mountain vegetation and lower. valley vegetation. The former was distinguished mainly by Pinus densiflora and Quercus mongolica. The latter was distinguished mainly by Quercus serrata, Acer mono, Cornus controversa, and Morm bornbycis. Vegetation units were classified into three categories : three communities and six subcommunities accompanying twenty-two groups. In Life-forms IV, woody and herbs showed mostly to 75±25% and 25±5%. The species showing the interspecific similarity over 0.5 with Pinus densiflora appeared to Quercus mongolica in trees, Fraxinus sieboldiana in subtrees, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, Lespedeza bicolor and R. mucronulatum in shrubs, and Carex humilis, Spodiopogon cotuliter, Atractylodes japonica, Melampyrum roseum, Artemisia keiskeana, Arundinella hirt, Miscanthus sinensis, Disporum smilan`num in herbs, respectively. Constancy classes diagram showed that the higher species (? Ⅳ) have only 2.0% and that most species occurred were rare and had low abundances.

잎새버섯(Grifola frondosa HB0071)이 생산하는 세포외 다당체인 GF-glucan이 사람섬유아세포에서 자외선(UVA)조사 시 증가되는 MMP-1 발현에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 자외선으로부터 조사된 섬유아세포에 GF-glucan을 처리한 농도에 따라 MMP-1 발현이 억제되었으며, RT-PCR를 이용해 세포내 MMP-1 mRNA 발현 또한 감소하는 것으로 나타났다 즉, 최대 GF-glucan 0.5%를 처리했을 때 54.4%의 MMP-1 발현을 억제하였다. 결과적으로, 잎새버섯 HB0071로부터 생산된 GF-glucan은 피부노화와 관련된 extracellular matrix (ECM) 조직에 손상을 주는 MMP-1의 활성을 억제하여 자외선으로부터 손상된 피부의 광노화로부터 보호해주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. We investigated the effect on inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) in human dermal fibroblast (HDF) by production of exopolysaccharide (GF-glucan) from mycelial culture of Grifola frondosa HB0071. The photoprotective potential of GF-glucan was tested in HDF exposed to ultraviolet-A (UVA) light. It was revealed that GF-glucan had an inhibitory effect on MMP-1 expression in UVA-irradiated HDF without any significant cytotoxicity. The treatment of UVA-irradiated HDF with GF-glucan resulted in a dose-dependent degrease in the expression level of MMP-1 protein and mRNA (by maximum 54.4% at an 0.5% GF-glucan). These results suggest that GF-glucan obtained from mycelial culture of G. frondosa HB0071 may contribute to inhibitory action in photoaging by reducing the MMP-1 related matrix degradation system.

최근 방송영상콘텐츠의 글로벌화로 인해 경제적인것은 물론, 문화적 활용가치가 높다는 것을 인식하고 있다. 이에 따라 국제적으로 선호할 수 있는 콘텐츠기획 및 제작을 위한 전략 모색에 집중하고 있다. 이러한 현상은 해외의 문화적 특수성에 적합한 콘텐츠를 어떻게 제작할 것인가에 대한 문제이며 동시에 문화코드와 관련된 논의와 밀접한 연관성을 지닌다. 해외에서 검증된 프로그램 자체를 그대로 가져와 현지에 맞게 제작하는 사례가 많이 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구는 영국 BBC <탑 기어>프로그램이 국내에 수입되어 현지에서 제작된 XTM <탑 기어 코리아>프로그램에서 현지화 변용이 어떻게 되었는지 그리고 그요인들이 무엇인지 연구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 해외원전 포맷인 BBC <탑 기어>와 XTM <탑 기어 코리아> 두 프로그램을 대상으로 동일한 에피소드 8편을 중심으로 분석하였다. 현지화 변용이 나타나는 요인을 분석하는 방법으로는 언어적 코드, 상호텍스트적 코드, 문화코드의 포맷 변용모델 분석으로 연구하였다. 그 결과 상호 텍스트적 코드는 시청자 참여를 통한 재미요소, 제작여건에 따른 제작비, 장비 등의 내·외적인 환경에 따라 변용이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 문화적 코드는 자국의 뿌리 깊은 정서로부터 시작된 요인으로 국토 지리적, 역사적 배경, 민족성 등 현지의 문화적 정서가 내포된 요인으로 변용이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. Recently, people recognize that not only economic application value but also cultural application value are high because of the globalization of video broadcasting contents. Therefore, they concentrate on the seeking of strategies for plan and manufacture of contents preferred internationally. This phenomenon is for the problem, how to manufacture contents suitable for overseas cultural particularities, and it`s closely related to the discussion on cultural code. There are lots of cases that the program which already obtained popularity or was verified was brought and manufactured for the actual site. This research intends to examine the application of localization changes to XTM <Top Gear KOREA> manufactured locally by importing British BBC <Top Gear> program to Korea and the factors. To achieve them, this research analyzed 8 same episodes for overseas original formats, BBC <Top Gear> and XTM <Top Gear KOREA>. The transformation model of linguistic code, mutual text code and cultural code, has applied as the study method to analysis the factors that cause the localization transformation. As the result, mutual text code was changed by pleasant factor by internal/external environments such as viewer participation, manufacture fee by manufacturing condition, equipment, etc. Cultural code started from the deep emotion of Korea and it could be changed to factors including local cultural emotion such as national geographic and historical background, ethnicity, etc.

The non-destructive inspection using the magnetic leakage method is suitable for inspection of the pipe having high magnetic permeability. In this paper, we introduce the development and experimental analysis of a robot that performs non-destructive precision inspection of structural condition inside the water supply pipe. In particular, we introduce the robot that moves and inspects as the robot goes forward with MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) driving spiral, not using all sensors attached in main water pipe. As a result, the structural defect in the water pipe was detected using the defect analysis algorithm based on the sensor signal measured by the proposed inspection robot to verify the reliability of spiral driving.
