        Polymorphisms of Ionotropic Glutamate Receptor-Related Genes and the Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a Chinese Population

        Objective: To evaluate the association of GRIK2 and NLGN1 with autism spectrum disorder in a Chinese population. Methods: We performed spatio-temporal expression analysis of GRIK2 and NLGN1 in the developing prefrontal cortex, and examined the expression of the genes in ASD cases and healthy controls using the GSE38322 data set. Following, we performed a case-control study in a Chinese population. Results: The analysis using the publicly available expression data showed that GRIK2 and NLGN1 may have a role in the development of human brain and contribute to the risk of ASD. Later genetic analysis in the Chinese population showed that the GRIK2 rs6922753 for the T allele, TC genotype and dominant model played a significant protective role in ASD susceptibility (respectively: OR=0.840, p=0.023; OR=0.802, p=0.038; OR=0.791, p=0.020). The NLGN1 rs9855544 for the G allele and GG genotype played a significant protective role in ASD susceptibility (respectively: OR=0.844, p=0.019; OR=0.717, p=0.022). After adjusting p values, the statistical significance was lost (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our results suggested that GRIK2 rs6922753 and NLGN1 rs9855544 might not confer susceptibility to ASD in the Chinese population.

        Hindu nationalism has played a significant role in shaping the political and social landscape of India throughout its history. This paper examines the development of Hindu nationalism in India, from its emergence during the colonial period to its current state in post-independence India. The paper also analyzes the challenges and criticisms associated with Hindu nationalism, including its impact on the principles of secularism and democracy, religious violence and communalism, and the rights and freedoms of minority groups. The paper concludes by discussing the need for greater understanding and tolerance between different religious and cultural groups in India and the importance of promoting a more inclusive and diverse society.

        Study on Corrosion Law of Large Crude Oil Storage Tank Floor and Risk-Based Inspection and Maintenance Technology

        In this paper, the author's team has carried out a comparative experimental study on the corrosion characteristics of Q235 steel commonly used in large-scale storage tanks under the specific bottom water environment found with Russian and Daqing crude oil. It was found that there is a certain degree of uniform or local corrosion on the tank floor depending on the kind of bottom water. The bottom water corrosion of Daqing crude oil is a uniform corrosion caused by carbon dioxide. While the Russian crude oil bottom water corrosion is clearly local corrosion caused by co-corrosion of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, here the corrosion rate is obviously higher than that caused by Daqing crude oil. There are two modes of storage tank inspection and maintenance that have been currently adopted by Chinese refining and chemical enterprises: a regular inspection mode and a API581-2016 risk-based detection mode. These modes have been effectively combined to form an intelligent tank inspection and maintenance mode, software tools to support this intelligent inspection and maintenance management have been developed.

      • Research on the Transformation of Global Public Health Security Governance in the Post-Pandemic Era

        The COVID-19 pandemic has elevated global public health security governance to a top priority, exposing existing issues while also driving the transformation of global public health security governance. In the post-pandemic era, global public health security governance will face new problems and challenges. The forms of global public health security threats have become more severe, there is a deficit in public health security governance, and disagreements arise in global public health security governance. These issues propel the transformation of global public health security governance. Firstly, governance entities display a diversified nature, with emerging countries playing increasingly important roles, transitioning from being passengers to driving forces. Secondly, the mechanisms of global public health security governance are becoming more refined, with the emergence of regional and multilateral governance frameworks. Lastly, there is a push for a change in global governance concepts, aiming to establish a shared, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security governance concept. China's impressive response to the COVID-19 pandemic provides a Chinese solution and promotes reform and development in global public health security governance.

        Biotechnology : Microbial Desulfurization of Dibenzothiophene and 4,6-Dimethyldibenzothiophene in Dodecane and Straight-Run Diesel Oil

        The desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT), 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) and their mixture by lyophilized cells of Pseudomonas delafieldii R-8 was studied in the presence of dodecane. The desulfurization rate for 4,6-DMDBT was found to be about 40% in comparison with that for DBT. The desulfurization process for DBT and 4,6-DMDBT proceeded simultaneously without preference for either one. The desulfurization rate for each compound was decreased when they were mixed together. The extent of desulfurization of 4,6-DMDBT was increased with the increase of cell concentration and the decrease of the volume ratio of oil-to-water used. The specific desulfurization rate for 4,6-DMDBT could be reached to 10.4 mmol sulfur kg^(-1) (cell) h^(-1) [approximately 0.33 mg sulfur g^(-1) (cell) h^(-1)]. Pseudomonas delafieldii R-8 showed high desulfurization capability for straight-run diesel oil (containing 1,807 mg/L of sulfur). About 1,000 mg/L of sulfur in diesel oil was removed by resting cells of this strai in 24 h of reaction. The specific desulfurization rate was 8.75 mmol sulfur kg^(-1) (cell) h^(-1).

        Control Strategy and Characteristic Analysis of Hybrid Active Power Filters with the Resonant Impedance Principle

        A new kind of resonant impedance type hybrid active filter (RITHAF) is proposed for dynamic harmonic current suppression and high capacity reactive compensation in medium and high voltage systems. This paper analyzed the different performance of the RITHAF when the active part of the RITHAF is controlled as a current source and as a voltage source, respectively. The harmonic suppression function is defined in this paper. The influences of the changes caused by the grid impedance and the detuning of the passive power filter on the compensating characteristics of the RITHAF are studied by analyzing the suppression function. Simulation and industrial application results show that the RITHAF has excellent performances in harmonic suppression and reactive compensation, which is suitable for medium and high voltage systems.

        Probing the SES-achievement connection in the fast-changing society of China: a comparison of urban, rural, and migrant students

        This study examined the effects of family SES on children’s mathematics achievement for urban, rural, and migrant families in China. The data comprised 6050 children (44% female, 56% male) in grades 4 and 5 from a national database in China. The results showed that parental education level and family income were directly related to children’s mathematics achievement. The effect of family income on parental educational expectations was significantly stronger among rural families than among migrant and urban families. Family income had a stronger effect on family learning stimulation for migrant and rural families than urban families. And, the effect of the parents’ level of education on parental educational expectations and family learning stimulation were significantly stronger among urban families than among migrant and rural families. The findings suggest that group-specific services are needed, particularly for Chinese migrant and rural families. The findings are discussed in an international content.

      • Analysis on the Issue of “Asia-Africa Growth Corridor”

        In order to counteract “The Belt and Road Initiative” proposed by China, shortly after the end of the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, India joined hands with Japan to throw out the concept of the so-called Asia-Africa Growth Corridor initiative to the international community. From the current academic research and analysis of the Asia-Africa Growth Corridor initiative, it can be seen that most of these achievements focus on current affairs reviews with relatively small length, while systematic research results are scarce. In view of this, this study will systematically analyze and discuss the related issues from five dimensions, namely, the background, content, formation process, reasons and evaluation of the initiative. In addition, the author will also discuss and analyze whether the Asia-Africa Growth Corridor will exert checks and balances on “The Belt and Road Initiative” proposed by China at the strategic level in combination with the realistic political environment, economic situation and other related factors.

        Research progress and treatment of radiation enteritis and gut microbiota

        Radiation enteritis is a kind of intestinal radiation injury in patients with pelvic and retroperitoneal malignancies after radiotherapy, and its occurrence and development process are very complicated. At present, studies have confirmed that intestinal microecological imbalance is an important factor in the formation of this disease. Abdominal radiation causes changes in the composition of the flora and a decrease in its diversity, which is mainly manifested by a decrease in beneficial bacterial species such as Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Intestinal dysbacteriosis aggravates radiation enteritis, weakens the function of the intestinal epithelial barrier, and promotes the expression of inflammatory factors, thereby aggravating the occurrence of enteritis. Given the role of the microbiome in radiation enteritis, we suggest that the gut microbiota may be a potential biomarker for the disease. Treatment methods such as probiotics, antibiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation are ways to correct the microbiota and may be an effective way to prevent and treat radiation enteritis. Based on a review of the relevant literature, this paper reviews the mechanism and treatment of intestinal microbes in radiation enteritis.
