        <P><B>The self‐assembly of CdSe quantum dots (QDs) onto a patterned silica surface</B> generated from surface microcontact click printing is presented. The mechanically robust self‐assembly process produces patterns of QDs which remain steadfast, even as subsequent reactions are performed on the substrate, demonstrating the utility and ease of this self‐assembly process.</P>

      • Smaller Decreases in Bone Mineral Density in CHB Patients Receiving Tenofovir Alafenamide Compared with Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate Over 96 Weeks

        Aims: Compared with TDF, smaller declines in bone mineral density (BMD) were demonstrated with TAF vs. TDF over 48 weeks. Presented here are bone safety results at Week 96. Methods: In two Phase 3 studies, 1301 patients were randomized (2:1) to receive TAF 25 mg QD or TDF 300 mg QD. Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans were evaluated for mean percent change from baseline and by the proportion with >3% declines in hip and spine BMD. BMD changes were also assessed in the subset of patients at higher risk for bone loss (females, advanced age [≥ 50 y], Asian race, eGFR <90 mL/min). Serum markers of bone resorption (CTX) and formation (osteocalcin, bone-specific alkaline phosphatase, P1NP) were also assessed serially. Results: Patients with TAF experienced lesser declines in hip and spine BMD over 96 weeks(Table, p< 0.001). A higher proportion of subjects treated with TDF also experienced >3% declines in hip and spine BMD compared with TAF-treated patients (Table, p < 0.0001). Greater declines in BMD were seen in patients with >1 risk factor for bone loss at baseline; however, in comparison to TDF, the proportion with >3% declines in hip and spine BMD were lower in the TAF group (p<0.0001 for all) and were less impacted by the presence of multiple risk factors (Table, p< 0.005 for all). By multivariate analysis baseline predictors for >3% decline in hip or spine BMD at Week 96 were: treatment with TDF, female gender, and older age. The smaller changes in BMD seen with TAF were associated with minimal changes in markers of bone turnover compared with TDF. Conclusions: Through 96 weeks, TAF was associated with had less impact on BMD and bone parameters compared to TDF. The magnitude of these differences was most pronounced in those at higher risk for bone loss.

        Experimental and numerical analysis of laminated carbon fibre-reinforced polymer gears with implicit model for coefficient-of-friction evaluation

        Laminated composites have so far received little attention as a potential material for gear drive applications. In the presented study, the thermomechanical performance of a newly developed type of epoxy impregnated, autoclave-cured carbon fibre-reinforced polymer gear—running in pair with a steel pinion—was analysed, using a combination of experimental and numerical approaches. The employed methods enabled the identification of the composite’s mechanical, thermal, and tribological characteristics, as related to the studied gear pair application. A newly proposed, finite-element-analysis-based iterative procedure enabled an implicit evaluation of the analysed material pair’s coefficient of friction (COF), which is a key parameter in determining the gear pair’s thermomechanical characteristics. For the considered material pair, a value of 0.34 was identified for the coefficient in the quasi-steady region. As the coefficient is strongly correlated with frictional heat generation and significantly affects the surface shear stress, it can consequently have a meaningful influence on the composite’s wear rate. The developed COF identification procedure was validated using a reciprocating cylinder-on-flat tribological test method. The composite gear’s service life was additionally tested at various running loads, resulting in pitch contact pressures ranging between 400 and 540 MPa. Lifetime gear test results showed a markedly superior performance compared to the high-temperature thermoplastic polyether ether ketone, which is typically employed in the most demanding polymer gear applications. Several methods are additionally proposed that could further improve the developed composite gears’ performance.

        Semi-analytical flash temperature model for thermoplastic polymer spur gears with consideration of linear thermo-mechanical material characteristics

        The temperature increase that occurs during running of a polymer gear pair can be divided into two com-ponents: the nominal and flash temperatures. The latter denotes the short-term temperature increase that takes place during a gear meshing cycle. A thorough analysis of the flash temperature yields an insight into the heat dissipation process, which also determines the nominal temperature increase. We focus here on the flash component using numerical and analytical computation tools, with which we can obtain realistic predictions of the temperature increase during a gear meshing cycle. The analysis is performed using a decoupled procedure that involves a mechanical finite element analysis, followed by a semi-analytical temperature evaluation method based on the computed mechanical response of the system. With it, we obtain an improved flash temperature model that offers an accurate representa-tion of the real life thermo-mechanical processes taking place at the gear teeth contact interfaces.

        A multicriteria function for polymer gear design optimization

        A reliable method of optimization of polymer gears remains, to date, an open challenge, due to the lack of specific material characterization of polymers and to the complex nonlinear relations between different geometric and operating parameters. For spur and helical gears, the authors herein have developed the optimization algorithm, which primarily enables variation of geometry according to various criteria: the number of teeth (z1, z2), face width (b), helix angle (β), and normal module (mn). The method enables a better insight into how design parameters influence the target criteria. The main paper contribution is a newly developed multicriteria function that enables a simultaneous consideration of different criteria such as root/flank stress, gear bulk/flank temperature, wear, deformation, quality, cost, and volume.

      • Sigapore Industrial Relations : From Colonial Tutelage to Corporatist Paternalism in New Economy (1945 to 2003)

        This paper traces the institutionalization of Singapore industrial relations during the last six decades (1945 to 2003), a period which not only witnessed major transitions in Singapore's history, but also allows a comparison between colonial labor policy and that of a postcolonial hyperdevelopmentalist state. It argues that the postcolonial state retained the repressive control measures of the colonial era both in its offensive against militant unionism bred under colonial conditions and in its efforts to create and nurture productionist unions supportive of national interest. The paper concludes that while the developmentalist agenda of the postcolonial state benefits from the colonial control measures, it also has had to build up industrial relations institutions capable of sustaining labor compliance, even support, particularly in the context of a maturing economy confronting a rapidly globalizing world.         수학과 CAI 프로그램 模型 開發과 適用

        水準別 學習者에 따른 CAI 프로그램 要素의 影響을 硏究하기 위하여 두 종류의 CAI 프로그램을 開發하였다. CAI 프로그램은 初等 學校 4學年 1學期 單元 3. 時間과 角度 中에서 ‘角度 4次時’ 分에 대하여 하나는 열린 問題를 包含하는 ‘CAI 프로그램 1’을 開發하였고, 두 번째는 旣存의 方法으로 ‘CAI 프로그램 2’를 作成 하였다. 이러한 硏究 問題를 解決하기 위해서 硏究 對象은 安東松峴初等學校 4學年 243名(實驗 集團 122名, 比較 集團 121名)을 選擇하였으며, 統制 變因은 CAI 프로그램의 種類만 다르게 하였다. CAI 프로그램 適用 結果의 資料 分析은 t 檢證과 學習者 面談을 倂用하였다. 프로그램 適用 結果 優秀兒 集團에서는 p<.0023 水準에서 t<3.2268로, 普通兒 集團에서는 p<.0706 水準에서 t<1.8211로 ‘CAI 프로그램 1’을 投入한 集團이 높게 나타났으나, 不振兒 集團에서는 p<.8073 水準에서 t<.2458로 意義있는 差를 發見하지 못하였다. 面談 結果 優秀兒, 普通兒 集團의 경우에는 열린 問題에 興味를 가지고 授業에 參席한 것으로 分析되었으나, 不振兒 集團의 경우에는 별 差異點을 發見하지 못하였다. 本 硏究 結果 열린 問題(열린 마당, 열린 평가)를 包含하는 프로그램이 個人差에 따른 모든 集團에 도움이 된다고 判斷되었다. 따라서 數學科 CAI 학습 프로그램 模型으로 열린 문제를 包含하는 ‘CAI 프로그램 1’의 模型을 앞으로의 CAI 프로그램 開發時 活用할 模型으로 提示한다. Two different CAI programs have been developed to study the affect of CAI element for the types of learners' performance; (ⅰ) one is the 'CAI program 1' including the open questions for the fourth grade (the fourth period of the 'Time and Angle' in chapter 3 of the first term) of the mathematics class in the elementary school, and (ⅱ) the other is 'CAI program 2' for the existing methods. The fourth grade of Andong Songhyun elementary school has been chosen as the study subjects (243 learners), and the t-test and learners' interview have also been used to analysis the results of CAI programs The CAI programs have only been used as the control variable. The developed CAI programs have been applied two different learners' groups to investigate the degree of performance among the superior, average, and inferior learners. For the superior group (p<.0023) at the t<3.2268 level and for the average group (p<.0706) at the t<1.8211 level the learners' group using the CAI program 1 shows the higher performance compared with the learners' group using the CAI program 2, whereas for the inferior group (p<.8073) at the t<.2458 level two programs did not show any difference. The learners' interviews show that the superior and average groups have an interest for the open problems, whereas the inferior group do not shows an interest for the open problems. Thus, the CAI programs including the open questions (open fields, open evaluation) will be helped to the learners' group with the individual differences. Furthermore, it is expected that the CAI programs including the open questions as the mathematics and the program model of CAI can be used to develope the CAI program in future.

        Revision of the Barsine punicea Moore, 1878 species-group, with descriptions of two new species and two new subspecies (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae)

        The Barsine puniceaMoore, 1878 species-group is revised. Two new species, Barsine bachma Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (Central Vietnam and Hainan, China) and Barsine sirikitae Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (North Thailand), and two new subspecies, Barsine punicea kachina Volynkin & Černý, ssp. nov. (North Myanmar) and Barsine bachma bolovena Volynkin & Černý, ssp. nov. (South Laos) are described. Barsine punicea melanandra Černý, 2009 is upgraded to the species level: Barsine melanandra Černý, 2009, stat. nov.Miltochrista rothschildiDraudt, 1914 is synonymized with Barsine punicea and downgraded to the subspecies status: Barsine punicea rothschildi (Draudt, 1914), syn. & stat. nov. The lectotype for Miltochrista coccineaRothschild, 1913 is designated. Adult, male and female genitalia are illustrated.
