Identification of differentially expressed genes in longissimus dorsi muscle between Wei and Yorkshire pigs using RNA sequencing

        Jingen Xu,Chonglong Wang,Erhui Jin,Youfang Gu,Shenghe Li,Qinggang Li 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.4

Intramuscular fat (IMF) content is an important trait closely related to meat quality, which is highly variable among pig breeds from diverse genetic backgrounds. High-throughput sequencing has become a powerful technique for analyzing the whole transcription profiles of organisms. In order to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying porcine meat quality, we adopted RNA sequencing to detect transcriptome in the longissimus dorsi muscle of Wei pigs (a Chinese indigenous breed) and Yorkshire pigs (a Western lean-type breed) with different IMF content. For the Wei and Yorkshire pig libraries, over 57 and 64 million clean reads were generated by transcriptome sequencing, respectively. A total of 717 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in our study (false discovery rate < 0.05 and fold change > 2), with 323 up-regulated and 394 down-regulated genes in Wei pigs compared with Yorkshire pigs. Gene Ontology analysis showed that DEGs significantly related to skeletal muscle cell differentiation, phospholipid catabolic process, and extracellular matrix structural constituent. Pathway analysis revealed that DEGs were involved in fatty acid metabolism, steroid biosynthesis, glycerophospholipid metabolism, and protein digestion and absorption. Quantitative real time PCR confirmed the differential expression of 11 selected DEGs in both pig breeds. The results provide useful information to investigate the transcriptional profiling in skeletal muscle of different pig breeds with divergent phenotypes, and several DEGs can be taken as functional candidate genes related to lipid metabolism (ACSL1, FABP3, UCP3 and PDK4) and skeletal muscle development (ASB2, MSTN, ANKRD1 and ANKRD2).

Superhydrophobic Ag/Viscose Non-woven Fabrics with Excellent Electric Heating and High-efficient Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

        Shan Jiang,Ce Cui,Weijie Wang,Erhui Ren,Hongyan Xiao,Mi Zhou,Jinzhong Tang,Cheng Cheng,Ronghui Guo 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.11

Multifunctional flexible conductive materials have attracted significant attention as next-generation portablewearable electronics. However, designing robust electronics fabrics with high-performance electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding and reliable use in all-weather environments remains a challenge. Herein, a practical and optimizedmethodology was provided to achieve surface metallization of insulating fabrics for conductive devices. The Ag seeds weresuccessfully embedded on the surface of viscose nonwovens as catalytic centers, and ammonia-free silver plating was carriedout at room temperature. Subsequently, the Ag-wrapped fabric was impregnated with 1-octadecanethiol so that the surface ofthe obtained fabric showed super-hydrophobicity and water contact angle can reach 152.3 °. The Ag/viscose exhibitsultrahigh conductivity (up to 538 S/cm) and the EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) reaches as high as 94.1 dB in the range of1-18 GHz. The obtained Ag/viscose possesses outstanding waterproof, strong mechanical durability, excellent Joule heatingeffect and antibacterial, which can be potentially applied for multifunctional wearable electronics and smart clothing.

Ion Temperature and Radial Profile of CII-CV located in the Edge and Divertor Plasmas of Large Helical Device

        Tetsutarou Oishi,Shigeru Morita,Chunfeng Dong,Motoshi Goto,Erhui Wang,Xianli Huang 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.64 No.6

Space-resolved vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectroscopy using a 3-m normal incidence spectrometeris utilized to measure the impurity emission profile in the edge and divertor plasmas of theLarge Helical Device (LHD). It measures the vertical profile of VUV lines emitted in the wavelengthrange of 300 − 3200 °A. CII, CIII, CIV, and CV lines emitted from carbon ions are successfully measured, and their ion temperatures are derived from the Doppler broadening. Vertical profiles ofthe emission intensity and the ion temperature are measured simultaneously for the CIV line. Theemission intensity profile, which has several peak structures, is reasonably explained by consideringthe relation between the C3+ ion distribution and the geometry used for the observations.
