We have searched for lepton-flavor-violating τ decays with a pseudoscalar meson (η, η' and π0) using a data sample of 401 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No evidence for these decays is found and we set the following upper limits on the branching fractions: B(τ-->e-η)<9.2x10-8, B(τ-->μ-η)<6.5x10-8, B(τ-->e-η')<1.6x10-7, B(τ-->μ-η')<1.3x10-7, B(τ-->e-π0)<8.0x10-8 and B(τ-->μ-π0)<1.2x10-7 at the 90% confidence level. These results improve our previously published upper limits by factors from 2.3 to 6.3.

Mutual Consideration as a Principle for Doing Politeness
E. A. Aziz 한국외국어대학교 동남아연구소 2006 東南亞硏究 Vol.15 No.2
Mutual Consideration as a Principle for Doing PolitenessE Aminudin Aziz(Indonesia University of Education) There are various strategies used by people to show politeness in their language exchange, all of which are largely determined by the level of a speaker's perception about the potential risk of losing face resulted from his/her utterance. The provision of responses other than refusals to a request directed to a speaker at times his/her circumstances actually pressure him/her to make a refusal or refusing the request indirectly accompanied by a number of politeness markers can be regarded as examples of the speaker's strong willingness to maintain the (existing) harmony with the requester. In this paper, I will show how indirectness has become the norm for Indonesians when making refusals. This is clearly contrary to the claim made by non-Indonesians which often regard such a behavior as a sign of uncooperativeness and impoliteness. It appears that there are a number of cultural norms and values that govern their linguistic politeness behaviors which I shall formulate in a Principle of Mutual Consideration (PMC). Being a refinement to Grice's (1975) CP and to Leech's (1983) PP, PMC assumes three levels of politeness: pre-communicative politeness, on the spot politeness, and post-communicative politeness.

A respiration rate (RR) model based on Peleg’sequation was developed for predicting RRs of fresh cutpapaya. Respiration data for fresh cut papaya at 3/4maturity were generated at temperatures 5, 10, 15, 20, 25and 30oC using a closed system. RRs was found to besignificantly influenced by storage temperature andincreased from 0.021 to 0.289 mL[O2]/kg·h and 0.063 to0.393 mL[CO2]/kg·h as a function of O2 and CO2 gasconcentrations, respectively. Peleg’s constant K1 and K2were obtained from linear regression analysis usingGraphPad Prism 5.0 software and regression coefficientshave good fit with values close to unity. The model wasverified to assess the capability of its predictability of theRRs over the temperatures. There was good agreementwith the experimentally estimated RRs. Informationderived from the model can contribute in the design ofsuccessful modified atmospheric systems for storage offresh cut papaya.

<P>We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-cb vertical bar using the decay B -> Dl nu(l) (l = e,mu) based on 711 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) -> Upsilon(4S) data recorded by the Belle detector and containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. One B meson in the event is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the other, on the signal side, is partially reconstructed from a charged lepton and either a D+ or D-0 meson in a total of 23 hadronic decay modes. The isospin-averaged branching fraction of the decay B -> Dl nu(l) is found to be B(B-0 -> D(-)l(vertical bar)nu(l)) = (2.31 +/- 0.03(stat) +/- 0.11(syst))%. Analyzing the differential decay rate as a function of the hadronic recoil with the parametrization of Caprini, Lellouch, and Neubert and using the form-factor prediction G(1) = 1.0541 +/- 0.0083 calculated by FNAL/MILC, we obtain eta(EW)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar = (40.12 +/- 1.34) x 10(-3), where eta(EW) is the electroweak correction factor. Alternatively, assuming the model-independent form-factor parametrization of Boyd, Grinstein, and Lebed and using lattice QCD data from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations, we find eta(EW)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar = (41.10 +/- 1.14) x 10(-3).</P>

E.G. Saad,T.M. Zewail,A.A. Zatout,E-S.Z. El-Ashtoukhy,M.H. Abdel-Aziz 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.94 No.-
In this work a two-compartment galvanic cell with two graphite rod electrodes and two types of cationexchange membranes: namely the Nafion membrane and synthetic fabric membrane is tested in treatingsulfide containing wastes and recovery of elemental sulfur. The cell reactions are sulfide oxidation at theanode and chromium (VI) reduction at the cathode. The effect of different parameters such as externalresistance, initial concentration of K2Cr2O7 solution, H2SO4 concentration, and initial concentration ofNa2S, the pH of the solution, NaCl concentration, and temperature of the solution is investigated. The cellperformance as a reactor and as an energy converter is expressed in terms of % sulfide removal andcurrent-voltage plots, respectively. Depending on the effects of the aforementioned factors, the optimalconditions that give the highest performance were determined, and then the cell was tested on realwastes from refinery processing at those conditions. The cell showed high selectivity in sulfide removaland sulfur recovery with almost no interference with other contaminants.

Belle-II SVD Collaboration,Kang, K.H.,Jeon, H.B.,Park, H.,Uozumi, S.,Adamczyk, K.,Aihara, H.,Angelini, C.,Aziz, T.,Babu, V.,Bacher, S.,Bahinipati, S.,Barberio, E.,Baroncelli, T.,Basith, A.K.,Batignani North-Holland 2016 Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Vol.831 No.-
A silicon vertex detector (SVD) for the Belle-II experiment comprises four layers of double-sided silicon strip detectors (DSSDs), assembled in a ladder-like structure. Each ladder module of the outermost SVD layer has four rectangular and one trapezoidal DSSDs supported by two carbon-fiber ribs. In order to achieve a good signal-to-noise ratio and minimize material budget, a novel chip-on-sensor ''Origami'' method has been employed for the three rectangular sensors that are sandwiched between the backward rectangular and forward (slanted) trapezoidal sensors. This paper describes the bonding procedures developed for making electrical connections between sensors and signal fan-out flex circuits (i.e., pitch adapters), and between pitch adapters and readout chips as well as the results in terms of the achieved bonding quality and pull force.
Performance and combustion characteristics of a novel crank-rocker engine
Salah E. Mohammed,M. B. Baharom,A. Rashid A. Aziz 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.7
The performance and combustion characteristics of a novel internal combustion engine, called the crank-rocker, have been investigated experimentally. The engine specifications are gasoline-port injection, four-stroke, spark-ignition, and single-curved cylinder. The ignition timing was initially set at 8.6 0 CA BTDC, 1800 rpm based on a small conventional engine. The equivalence ratio, lambda (λ) was varied at rich, stoichiometric, and lean conditions. The entire tests were performed at six different engine speeds of 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600 and 2800 rpm, with each one operating at wide open throttle. The performance data such as indicated torque, indicated power, indicated specific fuel consumption, and indicated thermal efficiency were calculated. The combustion characteristics such as cylinder pressure, mass fraction burned, heat release rate, P-V diagram, and indicated mean effective pressure were also determined. The results obtained from the crank-rocker engine were compared with the experimental results obtained from the conventional engine (benchmark engine). The results showed that the indicated torque, power and thermal efficiency of crank-rocker engine is higher than normal slidercrank engine. The indicated torque and power increased by about 6.28 %, while the indicated specific fuel consumption is lower by 4.69 %. In general, the engine has similar indicated performance characteristics to the conventional engine, but the combustion characteristics differ because the peak values of the combustion pressure and heat release occur at higher crank angle ATDC. This was found to be due to the dwelling of piston at TDC. The combustion rate and mixture of the novel crank-rocker engine burned faster, resulting in shorter combustion duration and ignition delay period than the conventional slider-crank engine.

<P>Novel silver nanoparticles-decorated chitosan (CS)-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite electrospun nanofibers, loaded with sulfanilamide for enhanced wound healing have been developed. Herein, formic acid was used as a reducing agent to produce in situ colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in the composite polymeric solution with the active agent sulfanilamide. The prepared electrospun fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TG). Further, in vitro release, antimicrobial properties and in vivo wound healing activity were evaluated. The results revealed that the composite fibers displayed a synergistic antibacterial and wound healing activities. (C) 2016 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.
