Interactive emotional lighting system using physiological signals

<P>This paper proposes an emotionally interactive lighting system to support affective experiences while enjoying video content. The emotional lighting system is controlled by changes in an individual¿s emotional state. The newly designed system consists of an emotion recognition system that uses three different physiological signals (photoplethysmography, skin temperature, and galvanic skin response), an emotion lighting control system, and an emotion ambient lighting system. The physiological responses of nineteen subjects are evaluated in terms of emotional arousal and relaxation states with two different colors of light. The physiological signals are analyzed in both the time and frequency domain, and test results show that the peak-to-peak interval value and ratio of high to very-low frequencies of the photoplethysmography signals decreases significantly following a red light stimulus when arousing video content is played, whereas the same factors exhibit a significant increase after a blue light stimulus while relaxing video content is watched. These results show that red and blue light is an effective intensifier of emotional arousal and relaxation experiences during displays of arousing and relaxing video content, respectively.</P>
Assessment of Various Lifetime Based Post-processing Methods on Thermographic Phosphor Thermometry

This study examined the computational cost and uncertainty for various lifetime based post-processing methods on thermographic phosphor thermometry. Four different post-processing methods including two kinds of two-point methods, a three-point method, and a decay slope method were selected to conduct the comparison with the conventional lifetime method. Computational cost, uniformity and uncertainty were studied. These five methods were then demonstrated in temperature measurements of the curve surface under an impinging jet. The results show that the three-point method and the decay slope method have the better temporal and accuracy performance on temperature measurement.
The characterization of pseudo-shock wave in various ducts with constant area

In a supersonic intake, the flow decelerates from supersonic to subsonic speed occurs inside the isolator by a series of bifurcated compression waves and followed by an adverse pressure gradient region. This wave phenomenon is referred to as pseudo-shock wave (PSW). The length of the PSW is one of the main consents in designing the Isolator. The flow characteristic of PSW is depending on the several parameters which makes the difficulties in designing the Isolator for each particular engine. Also, the pseudo shock wave strongly affects the performance of the flow device. In the present work, the characterization of the pseudoshock wave is analyzed using computational fluid dynamics method in a constant area duct. The effect of back pressure on the shock structure and the influence of geometrical crosssectional area are studied. The results show the nature of pseudo-shock wave is strongly influenced by the blockage ratio. The large aspect ratio duct shows relatively less total pressure loss. An improved correlation is obtained between the pressure ratio and the length of shock train region in terms of boundary layer blockage ratio. The estimated length of the shock train is compared with present numerical and reference experimental results. The results show a good agreement on predicting the length of shock train.
Design and Fabrication of a Low-Noise Amplifier for the V-Band

Millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuit (MIMIC)-based V-band low-noise amplifiers (LNA) were fabricated using high-performance 0.1-$\mu$ $\Gamma$-shaped pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors (PHEMT's), coplanar waveguide structures, and an integrated process for passive and active devices. The LNA was designed in a chip size of 2.3$\times$1.4 mm$^2$ by using 2-stage PHEMT's with two 70-$\mu$m fingers. A high $S_{21}$ gain of 14.9 dB and good matching at 60 GHz were achieved from the circuits, and a 20-dBm IP3 and 6.7-dB $NF_{min}$ were obtained from the LNA's.
역량기반 교육의 질 관리를 위한 CQI 시스템 연구 : 한국의 D 대학을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 역량기반 교육의 질 관리의 일환으로 D대학에서 실행되고 있는 교과목 CQI 시스템의 체계와 구성요소, 평가기준 및 활용에 대해 살펴보았다. D대학에서는 역량기반 교육계획-교육과정-교육결과의 질 관리 체계를 통해 전반적인 개선점을 도출하고, 이를 차기 강의에 반영할 수 있도록 CQI 환류시스템을 구성하였다. 또한, ‘개선실적 중심’의 평가기준을 마련함으로써 교육의 질 관리를 강화하였으며, 평가의 결과는 우수교원 시상 및 교원업적평가에 반영함으로써 교원들의 참여를 제고하였다. 이러한 결과에 비추어 대학교육의 질 관리를 위한 CQI 시스템 구축 및 운영에 있어 제언을 한다면, 먼저 교수자의 자기성찰과 학생들의 강의평가 결과를 토대로 지속적인 강의의 개선이 이루어지도록 순환적인 체계로 구성되어야 할 것이다. 다음으로 각 대학의 실정에 적합한 CQI를 개발하도록 노력하여야 한다. 이에 교과교육 및 교육과정이 실제 수업에서 어떻게 계획, 실행되고 있는지를 분석하고 수업실행결과인 학습자의 학습성과 평가결과 등이 포함된 종합적인 분석결과를 바탕으로 다시 교과교육과 교육과정 개선에 환류되어 교수자의 교수역량 및 학습자의 학습능력을 지속적으로 향상시킬 수 있는 접근방안을 찾도록 한다. 이상의 결과는 대학교육의 질 관리를 위한 CQI 시스템을 개발하여 적용하고자 할 때 CQI 구성항목 및 평가기준 등의 수립에 있어 실제적인 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 본 연구의 대학사례가 한정적이므로 추후 다양한 사례의 연구가 이루어 질 필요가 있다. In this study, we examined the system, components, evaluation criteria, and application of the Continuous Quality Improvement(CQI) system in a particular subject, which was carried out at D university as part of the quality management of competency-based education. D University has developed a CQI feedback system that can improve the quality of the educational plan, competency-based curriculum, and educational outcomes; the results of the feedback could be reflected in the next lecture. In addition, to improve the quality of education through evaluation criteria based on “improvement performance”, the results of the evaluation were reflected in the results of the best teachers professors and teacher’s achievement evaluations. The results of this study can be useful for establishing CQI configuration items and evaluation criteria when developing and applying CQI for quality management of university education. However, As this study was limited to retain additional case studies need to be conducted.
