Scanning electron microscopic structure of lentiform papillae on tongues of developing Korean native goats (Capra hircus)

Chungkil Won, Gyuhyen Cho, Munki Kim, Gonsup Kim, Chongsup Kim 충북대학교 동물의학연구소 2013 Journal of Biomedical and Translational Research Vol.14 No.3

The purpose of this study was to explore the morphological characteristics of developing lentiform papilla (LP) in Korean native goats by scanning electron microscopy (SAM). Tongues were removed from fetuses on days 90, 120, neonates, and juveniles on days 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180. In prenatal development, the primordia of LP in 90-day-old fetuses were round and spotted on the inner most part of the torus linguae of the tongue. Primordia of LP in 120-day-old fetuses also had a lens-like shape. In neonates, LP displayed similar features as the adult one. In postnatal juveniles on days 30 and 60, LP continually increased in size without much difference in structure compared to that of neonates. By postnatal day 90, detached pieces of keratinized superficial epithelia were observed. Microridges and microplicae were well developed on the epithelial surface of LP in 60- to 120-day-old goats. The lengths of LP were 476~514 μm in neonates, 687~962 μm in the weaning period of 60-dayold goats, and 1,068~1,567 μm in the maturing period of 180-day-old goats. These findings indicate that goat LP has different sizes and shapes from those of other species during development

Scanning electron microscopic observation on the development of conical papillae in Korean native goats (Capra hircus)

Chungkil Won, Gyuhyen Cho, Munki Kim, Gon-Sup Kim, Chongsup Kim 충북대학교 동물의학연구소 2012 Journal of Biomedical and Translational Research Vol.13 No.4

The aim of this study was to investigate the morphological development pattern of conical papilla (CP) during prenatal and postnatal periods in native Korean goats by scanning electron microscopy. Tongues were removed from fetuses on days 90, 120, and neonates and from juveniles on days 30, 50, 60, 75, 90, 120, 150, and 180 after birth. The lengths of CP were 194~240 μm in neonates, 335~485 μm in the weaning period of 60-day-old goats, and 526~662 μm in the maturing period of 180-day-old goats. The primordia of CP in 90-day-old fetuses, shaped like mountain berry, were sprouted. The CP of 120-day-old fetuses was a cylinder shape with an apex whose center was slightly concave and the margin was sticking up like a low fence. The CP of neonates was empty inside and the secondary papillae were irregularly arranged fence-like structures on it. In 60-day-old goats, CP was an obliquely sectioned cylinder shape compacted in inner surface; the shapes of CP varied in 120-day-old goats, and had a smooth surface. A low elevation of CP was observed in 150- and 180-day-old goats. The microridges, microplicae, and micropits were well developed on the epithelial surface of lingual papillae in 60- to 120-day-old goats. These findings indicate that CP of goats has a variety of sizes and shapes during development.

Populism and social expenditure: The case of Latin America

        Kim, Chongsup,Kim, Heera 한국외국어대학교 중남미연구소 2021 중남미연구 Vol.40 No.3

This paper examines the effects of populist regimes on social expenditure and different subcategories of social expenditure (education, health and social protection) using data of 18 Latin American countries between 1991 and 2017. Results indicate that populist regimes in Latin America are positively associated with an increase in social expenditure as percentage of GDP specially for health and education expenditure, whereas for social protection there is no statistically significant effect. This paper argues that the profile of populist supporters does affect the public expenditure to back specific social policies. Across the history of populism in Latin America, the constituency of populist regimes moved from labor and working class to the informal and marginalized sectors of the society, which was reflected on an increase on social expenditure specially for health and education.

제어법칙 간 상호 전환 시 과도응답 최소화를 위한 전환시간에 관한 연구

        김종섭,Kim, Chongsup 항공우주시스템공학회 2015 항공우주시스템공학회지 Vol.9 No.1

The inter-conversion between different control laws in flight has a lot of risk. The SWM(Switching Mechanism) including logic and stand-by mode is designed to analyze the transient response of aircraft during inter-conversion between different control laws, based on the in-house software for non-real-time and real-time simulation. The SWM applies the fader logic of TFS(Transient Free Switch) to minimize the transient response of an aircraft during the inter-conversion, and applies the reset '0' type of the stand-by mode to prevent surface saturation due to integrator effect in the disengaged flight control law. The transition time is also important to minimize the objectionable transient response in the inter-conversion, as well as the transition control law design. This paper addresses the results of non-real-time simulation for the characteristics of transient response to different transition time to select the adequate transient time, and the real-time pilot evaluation, using SSWM(Software Switching Mechanism) and HSWM(Hardware Switching Mechanism), which is met for Level 1 flying qualities and assures safety of flight.

Scanning Electron Microscopic Study of the Developing Vallate Papillae in the Korean Native Goat (Capra hircus)

        Cho, Gyuhyen,Kim, Munki,Lee, Sijoon,Kim, Chongsup,Won, Chungkil The Korean Society of Developmental Biology 2016 발생과 생식 Vol.20 No.4

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the morphological characteristics of the developing vallate papillae (VP) of Korean native goats using scanning electron microscopy. In prenatal development of the VP, primordia of the VP were observed and the moat was shallowly spread in 60-day-old fetuses. The moat of the vallate papillae was shallowly spread and still undifferentiated in 90-day-old fetuses. The trench wall of the moat of the VP was well developed in 120-day- old fetuses. In neonates, the moat of the VP was more widely and deeply engraved and VP were developed as completely as those of adults. In postnatal development, VP were observed to have continually increased in size with slight morphological changes until 90-days after birth. Taste pores of the VP were shaped like flower leaves in 120-days after birth. The microridges and microplicaes were well developed on the epithelial surface of the VP in goats ranging from 120-day-old fetuses to 120-day-old postnatal animals. These results suppose that the sensing ability for gestation of VP was already well developed by the time of its birth and VP were differentiated into a variety of different shape and size during development.

Turnover deformity means implanted nasal prosthesis turn over by external force or manipulation several months after Augmentation rhinoplasty. We recognized 3 cases of turnover deformity of the prosthesis recently. T재 was referred from outside and the one was our own surgical case. The cases referred from outside were 26 and 28 year old ladies who complained this deformity occured suddenly during or after cosmetic massage to the nose at the beauty saloon. Those patients have a history of the augmentation rhinoplasty performed 7 and 8 monthes ago by use of soft and straight type of nasal prosthesis. The smooth dorsum of the nose was changed suddenly to the broad angular surface after cosmetic massage. We carried out open reduction to correct this deformity. Cartilage over graft with non absorbable suturing on the tip of the prasthesis were performed to prevent this deformity as shown in fig 2. The third case was a 24 year old man. He had augmentation rhinoplasty with soft and straight type of nasal prosthesis in our clinic 4 months ago for cosmetic reason. During an argument with his friend, the patient received several blows to his nose. Following this trauma his nose was swollen and severe bruise. After swelling subsided he noticed the deformity of his nose. Smooth dorsum was changed to a broad angular surface as result of nasal prosthesis turned over. We attempted closed reduction by external manipulation. The turned over prosthesis could be returned to original status by external manipulation. In the review of above 3 cases, we can recognize that the turn over deformity of implanted prosthesis could be caused by external trauma such as cosmetic massage and physical blowes not only by surgeon error, the possible mechanism of this deformity thought to be related to wider and more lubricated nasal pocket. We think the pocket is not formed evenly in all cases of the augmentation rhinoplasty as the same as ocurring in spherical contracture in augmentation mammoplasty. In some cases, a wider nasal pocket could be formed but other have a narrow pocket eventhough the same procedure is performed by same surgeon. The progression of this deformity seemed to originate from the distal portion of the prosthesis on bridge of the nose because of increased subsceptibility to trauma through the thinner skin in this area. It can be easily corrected by closed reduction with finger manipulation on the dorsum of nose.

The modern version of aircrafts is allowed to guarantee the superior handing qualities within the entire flight envelope by imposing the adequate stability and flying qualities on a target aircraft through the various techniques of flight control law design. Generally, the flight control law of the aircraft in service applies the various techniques of the verified control algorithm, such as dynamic inversion and eigenstructure assignment. The supersonic trainer employs the RSS(Relaxed Static Stability) concept in order to improve the aerodynamic performance in longitudinal axis and the longitudinal control laws employ the dynamic inversion with proportional-plus-integral control method. And, lateral-directional control laws employ the blended roll system of both beta-betadot feedback and simple roll rate feedback with proportional control method in order to guarantee aircraft stability. In this paper, the lateral-directional flight control law is designed by applying dynamic inversion control technique as a different method from the current supersonic trainer control technique, where the roll rate command system is designed at the lateral axis for the rapid response characteristics, and the sideslip command system is adopted at the directional axis for stability augmentation. The dynamic inversion of a simple 1st order model is applied. And this designed flight control law is confirmed to satisfy the requirement presented from the military specification. This study is expected to contribute to design the flight control law of KF-X(Korean Fighter eXperimental) which will proceed into the full-scale development in the near future.
