This paper analyses the mathematical model and control strategies of a Hybrid Active Power Filter with Injection Circuit (IHAPF). The control strategy based on the load harmonic current detection is selected. A novel control method for a IHAPF, which is based on the analyzed control mathematical model, is proposed. It consists of two closed-control loops. The upper closed-control loop consists of a single fuzzy logic controller and the IHAPF model, while the lower closed-control loop is composed of an Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) controller, a Neural Generalized Predictive (NGP) regulator and the IHAPF model. The purpose of the lower closed-control loop is to improve the performance of the upper closed-control loop. When compared to other control methods, the simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control method has the advantages of a shorter response time, good online control and very effective harmonics reduction.

mTOR controls ChREBP transcriptional activity and pancreatic β cell survival under diabetic stress
Chau, Gia Cac,Im, Dong Uk,Kang, Tong Mook,Bae, Jeong Mo,Kim, Won,Pyo, Suhkneung,Moon, Eun-Yi,Um, Sung Hee The Rockefeller University Press 2017 The Journal of cell biology Vol.216 No.7

Impaired nutrient sensing and dysregulated glucose homeostasis are common in diabetes. However, how nutrient-sensitive signaling components control glucose homeostasis and β cell survival under diabetic stress is not well understood. Here, we show that mice lacking the core nutrient-sensitive signaling component mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) in β cells exhibit reduced β cell mass and smaller islets. mTOR deficiency leads to a severe reduction in β cell survival and increased mitochondrial oxidative stress in chemical-induced diabetes. Mechanistically, we find that mTOR associates with the carbohydrate-response element–binding protein (ChREBP)–Max-like protein complex and inhibits its transcriptional activity, leading to decreased expression of thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP), a potent inducer of β cell death and oxidative stress. Consistent with this, the levels of TXNIP and ChREBP were highly elevated in human diabetic islets and mTOR-deficient mouse islets. Thus, our results suggest that a nutrient-sensitive mTOR-regulated transcriptional network could be a novel target to improve β cell survival and glucose homeostasis in diabetes.

History and present state of Vietnamese traditional medicine
Chau, Hoang-Bao 경희대학교 동서의학연구소 1989 INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON EAST-WEST MEDICINE Vol.1989 No.3
Vietnam has a millienial traditional medicine. Under the reign of the HUNG kings(2879-257 BC) and of AN DUONG VUONG(257-179 BC) our ancestors found meals utilized as materia medica and medicinal plants. During the period of struggle for independence and liberty under the Chinese domination(179 BC-938 AB) the Chinese mandarins brought Chinese medicine with them in Vietnam. There was also exchange of midicines between Vietnam and China. Under the indenpendent reigns of Vietnam(938-1884) Vietnamese traditional medicine developed with the integration of Vietnamese and Chinese medicines. TUE TINH was a famous physician of the 14the century and HAITHUONG LAN ONG, that of the 18th century. During the period of struggle against French colonization Vietnamese traditional medicine has lost its official status and there was importaion of Westem medicine which has taken the official place in the health services of the country. Since 1945 until now, under the new regimes(Democratic Republic and Socialist Republic) thraditional medicine recovers its official place in the health system. From 1955, efforts were made to inherit and develop traditional medicine, to integrate it with Western modern medicine in order to enlarge the abilities of prevention and treatment and to edify a Vietnamese medicine. At present time we have established a system of traditional medicine in the national health network. We have also put into practice the three different methods of medicine and pharmacy : traditional, modern and integrated.
Particle Filtration Efficiency Testing of Sterilization Wrap Masks
Chau, Destiny F.,O'Shaughnessy, Patrick,Schmitz, Michael L. The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine 2021 Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health Vol.54 No.1
Objectives: Non-traditional materials are used for mask construction to address personal protective equipment shortages during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Reusable masks made from surgical sterilization wrap represent such an innovative approach with social media frequently referring to them as "N95 alternatives." This material was tested for particle filtration efficiency and breathability to clarify what role they might have in infection prevention and control. Methods: A heavyweight, double layer sterilization wrap was tested when new and after 2, 4, 6, and 10 autoclave sterilizing cycles and compared with an approved N95 respirator and a surgical mask via testing procedures using a sodium chloride aerosol for N95 efficiency testing similar to 42 CFR 84.181. Pressure testing to indicate breathability was also conducted. Results: The particle filtration efficiency for the sterilization wrap ranged between 58% to 66%, with similar performance when new and after sterilizing cycles. The N95 respirator and surgical mask performed at 95% and 68% respectively. Pressure drops for the sterilization wrap, N95 and surgical mask were 10.4 mmH2O, 5.9 mmH2O, and 5.1 mmH2O, respectively, well below the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health limits of 35 mmH2O during initial inhalation and 25 mmH2O during initial exhalation. Conclusions: The sterilization wrap's particle filtration efficiency is much lower than a N95 respirator, but falls within the range of a surgical mask, with acceptable breathability. Performance testing of non-traditional mask materials is crucial to determine potential protection efficacy and for correcting misinterpretation propagated through popular media.

In this paper the extended finite element method is applied to numerically simulate crack propagation in aluminum sheets under monotonic increasement of displacement control. J2 plasticity of material model is included. Under elasto-plastic condition, CTOA criterion is employed for modeling stable crack growth during the fracture process. Results show good agreement with experimental measurement.
