        Integrated Software Quality Evaluation: A Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Approach

        Software measurement is a key factor in managing, controlling, and improving the software development processes. Software quality is one of the most important factors for assessing the global competitive position of any software company. Thus the quantification of quality parameters and integrating them into quality models is very essential. Software quality criteria are not very easily measured and quantified. Many attempts have been made to exactly quantify the software quality parameters using various models such as ISO/IEC 9126 Quality Model, Boehm's Model, McCall's model, etc. In this paper an attempt has been made to provide a tool for precisely quantifying software quality factors with the help of quality factors stated in ISO/IEC 9126 model. Due to the unpredictable nature of the software quality attributes, the fuzzy multi criteria approach has been used to evolve the quality of the software.

        Rad61/Wpl1 (Wapl), a cohesin regulator, controls chromosome compaction during meiosis

        <P>Meiosis-specific cohesin, required for the linking of the sister chromatids, plays a critical role in various chromosomal events during meiotic prophase I, such as chromosome morphogenesis and dynamics, as well as recombination. Rad61/Wpl1 (Wapl in other organisms) negatively regulates cohesin functions. In this study, we show that meiotic chromosome axes are shortened in the budding yeast <I>rad61/wpl1</I> mutant, suggesting that Rad61/Wpl1 negatively regulates chromosome axis compaction. Rad61/Wpl1 is required for efficient resolution of telomere clustering during meiosis I, indicating a positive effect of Rad61/Wpl1 on the cohesin function required for telomere dynamics. Additionally, we demonstrate distinct activities of Rad61/Wpl1 during the meiotic recombination, including its effects on the efficient processing of intermediates. Thus, Rad61/Wpl1 both positively and negatively regulates various cohesin-mediated chromosomal processes during meiosis.</P>

        A Critical Assessment of the Implementation of Sources of Power: An Indian Context

        Purpose - The core objective of this study is to comprehend the diverse nature of implementation of sources of power in the Indian context. Research design, data, and methodology - After a meticulous review of the relevant literature on various types of power with a particular kind of managers’involvement, the article reviews the Indian managers’ behavioral perception and attitudinal disposition while exercising power in their organization, along with a judicious blend of different kinds of power to drive the organization to the expected level. Results - As an input to a full-fledged research study, researchers had taken up this precise discussion and observation on how the managers’ community in India exercises its power. Generally, Indian managers usually implement legitimate power besides reward and coercive power as per the situation, by extending copious benefits to different stakeholders. Based on the psychological and behavioral disposition, Indian managers exercised power in their respective organizations in a fruitful manner. Conclusions -This article has carefully covered the entire corporate sector regardless of magnitude, type, or ownership. It is quite beneficial to all the proactive researchers and academia along with the corporate world.

        Phosphorylation-Driven Assembly of the RIP1-RIP3 Complex Regulates Programmed Necrosis and Virus-Induced Inflammation

        Programmed necrosis is a form of caspase-independent cell death whose molecular regulation is poorly understood. The kinase RIP1 is crucial for programmed necrosis, but also mediates activation of the prosurvival transcription factor NF-κB. We postulated that additional molecules are required to specifically activate programmed necrosis. Using a RNA interference screen, we identified the kinase RIP3 as a crucial activator for programmed necrosis induced by TNF and during virus infection. RIP3 regulates necrosis-specific RIP1 phosphorylation. The phosphorylation of RIP1 and RIP3 stabilizes their association within the pronecrotic complex, activates the pronecrotic kinase activity, and triggers downstream reactive oxygen species production. The pronecrotic RIP1-RIP3 complex is induced during vaccinia virus infection. Consequently, RIP3<SUP>-/-</SUP> mice exhibited severely impaired virus-induced tissue necrosis, inflammation, and control of viral replication. Our findings suggest that RIP3 controls programmed necrosis by initiating the pronecrotic kinase cascade, and that this is necessary for the inflammatory response against virus infections.

        Spermidine alleviates oxidative stress in silk glands of Bombyx mori

        Silk gland is a specialized organ for the synthesis of silk. Spermidine is a natural polyamine present in all living cells. It gained attention recently due to its role in longevity and growth promotion. Our earlier study reported enhancement in silk production after spermidine treatment during the 5th instar larval stage of Bombyx mori hybrid strain CSR2 × CSR4. Oxidative stress increases during the degeneration of silk glands in spinning stage. Spermidine plays an important role in relieving oxidative stress. Results showed that exogenous administration of natural polyamine, spermidine, significantly increased the metabolic activity and reduced the oxidative stress of the silk gland in the pre-pupal stage. Expression analysis also confirmed increase in metabolic activity of silk glands after spermidine treatment by showing enhancement inMYC gene expression. Finally, our results demonstrate that supplementation of spermidine enhanced cell viability and decreased oxidative stress of the silk glands. Thiswork also opens up the idea of feeding antioxidants to silkworms which would be beneficial to the sericulture farmers.

        Comparative evaluation of the effectiveness of a mobile app (Little Lovely Dentist) and the tell-show-do technique in the management of dental anxiety and fear: a randomized controlled trial

        Background: Behavior guidance is a technique used to subdue inappropriate behavior by establishing communication that meets the needs of a child. This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of a mobile app (Little Lovely Dentist) compared to the tell-show-do (TSD) technique in managing anxious children during their first dental visit. Methods: Fifty children (30 boys and 20 girls) without any past dental experience, aged from 7 to 11 years, were randomly allocated into either the dental app group or the TSD group. The pre- and post-operative anxiety of children who underwent prophylactic cleaning was assessed both physiologically and subjectively using a heart rate measurement and the RMS pictorial scale, respectively. Results: The intragroup comparison of heart rate and RMS scores for children allocated to the dental app group was statistically significant (P value ≤ 0.001). However, a significant reduction only occurred in the RMS scores, but not the heart rate measurements, in the TSD group. Conversely, there was an increase in heart rates in the TSD group. Conclusion: Educating the child prior to a dental procedure using a smartphone application such as Little Lovely Dentist can significantly alleviate the anticipatory anxiety and engage children in dental treatment during their first visit.

        A Treatise on the Cross-Cultural Analysis of Indian Consumers’ Conspicuous Consumption of Veblen Products

        Purpose - This study aims to identify the reasons behind the conspicuous consumption of Veblen products, viz. fashion designer wear, diamond and gold jewellery, and high-end cars, to examine how conspicuous consumption varies between Aryan and Dravidian cultures. Research design, data, and methodology - The researchers meticulously review the relevant literature, administered a well-structured questionnaire, and conducted personal interviews on various influential factors relating to the consumption of Veblen products. The convenience sampling technique was used to gather data, with a total sample of 200, equally selected from eight cities of both North and South India the collected data was analyzed through ANOVA and Z-Proportion tests. Results - Indian consumers’ conspicuous consumption significantly varies among the Veblen products selected for the study, between the Aryan and Dravidian cultures. Regarding conspicuous consumption of branded accessories, 65 percent of Aryan culture Indians responded positively as against only 45 percent of the Dravidian culture Indians. Conclusions - This ingenious study proffers valuable insights about the conspicuous buying behavior of affluent class consumers in India, which are lucrative for both the corporate sector and academia.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Solar absorber Cu<SUB>2</SUB>ZnSnS<SUB>4</SUB> (CZTS) films were uniformly deposited on Si/Mo substrates via a facile, cost-effective chemical bath deposition (CBD) by using ribonucleic acid (RNA) nucleobase uracil as the functional building block. The functional sites of uracil, i.e., CO and NH, played a critical role in the complexation of metals via uracil-quartet functional architectures. Stable metal–uracil complexes significantly affected the growth kinetics, enhancing the uniform delivery of multimetal components into films and suppressing the undesirable formation of CuS particles. CZTS films obtained with the addition of 0.05 and 0.5 M uracil exhibited a smooth surface morphology and significantly improved photoconductive performance.         The main objective of the research is to identify reasons behind conspicuous consumption of Veblen products viz., fashion designer wear, diamond & gold jewellery and high-end cars to examine conspicuous consumption varies across both Aryan and Dravidian cultures which spread in North and South India respectively. The researchers get into meticulous review of relevant literature on conspicuous consumption, along with cultural differences in India and administered a well-structured questionnaire, conducted personal interviews on various influential factors on the consumption of Veblen products. The convenience sampling technique used to gather data with a total sample of 200 equally selected from eight cities of both North and South India and the collected data analyzed through ANOVA and Z-Proportion Test. Indian consumers' conspicuous consumption is significantly varies among the Veblen products selected for the study in the Aryan and Dravidian cultures in India. Out of 100 respondents, 43 percent responded positively towards fashion designer wear as against meager 17 to demonstrate their social status by purchasing diamond and gold jewellery in north India. To enhance self-image by wearing gold & diamond jewellery, 53 percent of respondents from south India reacted favorably whereas only 10 confined from north. Regarding conspicuous consumption of branded accessories, 65 percent Aryan culture Indians responded positively as against just 45 percent from the Dravidian culture south Indians.
