BiOX (X = Br, Cl and I) nanoplate photocatalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Thephotocatalytic activity of the synthesized catalysts was evaluated for RhB dye degradation under fourtypes of light emitting diodes (LEDs) irradiation possesses different wavelength. 100% RhB dyedegradation was achieved for BiOCl and BiOBr catalysts within 120 and 240 min under UVLEDirradiation. Whereas BiOI catalyst owns 83.4% degradation under red LED (RLED) irradiation at the end of240 min. Our study reveals that BiOI photocatalyst could be effective for RhB dye degradation undercheaper RLED irradiation rather than UVLED.
LFDS : Scalable and High Performance Logging for Mission Critical Real Time Applications
Muralidaran Natarajan,Nandlal L. Sarda,Sharad C. Srivastava 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.6
In the world of connected enterprises and Internet of Things (IOT), millions of users and devices are connecting and transacting online simultaneously. Further, introduction of multi-core hardware platforms resulted in multi-fold increase in processing speed and volumes. To support the increasing volumes generated, building end-end-end scalable business applications has become the key focus of these service organizations. The reliability expectation of these systems is 100% and hence persisting of transaction information and key activities information is crucial to the success of the business applications. However, the performance of such software applications is inherently limited by disk input/output (I/O). Often, CPU activity gets suspended till I/O activity completes. Redesigning and tuning I/O can enhance application performance significantly. This paper presents our approach of ‘Log Flush Daemon Service’ (LFDS) in which application takes control of the I/O by taking it off the main transaction path along with hybrid of approaches from the techniques for optimization of the ancillary tasks of logging. This helps to enhance the performance, reduce the jitter and outliers.
Numerical simulations of convergent-divergent nozzle and straight cylindrical supersonic diffuser
Mehta, R.C.,Natarajan, G. Techno-Press 2014 Advances in aircraft and spacecraft science Vol.1 No.4
The flowfields inside a contour and a conical nozzle exhausting into a straight cylindrical supersonic diffuser are computed by solving numerically axisymmetric turbulent compressible Navier-Stokes equations for stagnation to ambient pressure ratios in the range 20 to 34. The diffuser inlet-to-nozzle throat area ratio and exit-to-throat area ratio are 21.77, and length-to-diameter ratio of the diffuser is 5. The flow characteristics of the conical and contour nozzle are compared with the help of velocity vector and Mach contour plots. The variations of Mach number along the centre line and wall of the conical nozzle, contour nozzle and the straight supersonic diffuser indicate the location of the shock and flow characteristics. The main aim of the present analysis is to delineate the flowfields of conical and contour nozzles operating under identical conditions and exhausting into a straight cylindrical supersonic diffuser.

A non-isolated Multiple Input Converter (MIC) with an input port, two storage ports and a load port is proposed. The synthesis of the proposed four port converter with its switch realization is presented. A steady state analysis of each operating mode with a small-signal model is derived, and a stability analysis is done. A mode selection controller is proposed to automatically choose a specific operating mode based on the voltage levels of the different source and storage units. In addition, a voltage control loop is used to regulate the output voltage. A 200W prototype is built with a TMS320F28027 DSP controller to test the feasibility of the operating modes. Simulation and experimental results show the ability of the proposed converter to handle multiple inputs either individually or simultaneously.

This paper investigates the utilization of waste tyre crumb rubber as the fine aggregate in precast concrete Paving block (PCPB). PCPB’s are generally preferred for city roads, pedestrian crosswalk, parking lots and bus terminals. The main aim of this paper is to evaluate the mechanical properties of wet cast PCPB containing waste tyre crumb rubber. The mechanical properties were investigated using a density, compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength tests at 7, 28 56 days according to the IS 15688:2006 and EN1338. The wet cast method was followed for producing PCPB samples. The fine aggregate (river sand) was replaced with waste tyre crumb in percentage of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% by volume. All the test results were compared with the conventional PCPB (Without rubber). The test results indicate its feasibility for incorporating waste tyre crumb rubber in the production of PCPB by the wet cast method.
Assessment of Single Phase Cascaded Multilevel Inverter using Equal and Unequal Amplitude Carriers
P. Sureshpandiarajan,S. P. Natarajan,C. R. Balamurugan,R. Bensraj 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.8 No.5
This work presents the comparison of various multicarrier based Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques for the chosen single phase CMLI (Cascaded Multi Level Inverter). In this paper, a single phase symmetrical cascaded multilevel inverter is controlled with sinusoidal, THI (Third Harmonic Injection), Trapezoidal, TAR (Trapezoidal Amalgamated Reference) and Stepped Wave reference with Equal Amplitude Carriers (EAC) and UEAC (Un Equal Amplitude Carriers). The proposed EAC and UEAC are applied for various PWM strategies. The PWM methods used for the analysis are PD (Phase Disposition) PWM, POD (Phase Opposition and Disposition) PWM, APOD (Alternative Phase Opposition and Disposition) PWM, CO (Carrier Overlapping) PWM, PS (Phase Shift) PWM and VF (Variable Frequency) PWM with EAC and UEAC. For all the PWM methods and references the UEAC produces less THD and higher fundamental RMS (Root Mean Square) values except for ma =1. For ma =1 the EAC provides less THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and higher fundamental RMS (Root Mean Square) values for all the PWM methods and references. To validate the developed technique, simulations are carried out through MATLAB/SIMULINK.
