Hepatic alterations associated with fine particulate matter exposure
Iván Tavera Busso,Ana Carolina Mateos,Alicia González Peroni,Natalia Soledad Graziani,Hebe Alejandra Carreras 한국독성학회 2020 Toxicological Research Vol.36 No.2
Several studies have pointed to fine particulate matter ( PM2.5) as the main responsible for air pollution toxic effects. Indeed, PM2.5 may not only cause respiratory and cardiovascular abnormalities but it may also affect other organs such as the liver. Be that as it may, only a few studies have evaluated the PM2.5 effects on hepatic tissue. Moreover, most of them have not analyzed the relationship between particles composition and toxicological effects. In this study, healthy rats were subjected to urban levels of PM2.5 particles in order to assess their structural and functional effects on the liver. During the exposure periods, mean PM2.5 concentrations were slightly higher than the value suggested by the daily guideline of the World Health Organization. The exposed rats showed a hepatic increase of Cr, Zn, Fe, Ba, Tl and Pb levels. This group also showed leukocyte infiltration, sinusoidal dilation, hydropic inclusions and alterations in carbohydrates distribution. These histologic lesions were accompanied by serological changes, such as increase of total cholesterol and triglycerides, as well as genotoxic damage in their nuclei. We also observed significant associations between several biomarkers and PM2.5 composition. Our results show that exposure to low levels of PM2.5 might cause histologic and serological changes in liver tissue, suggesting that PM2.5 toxicity is influenced not only by their concentration but also by their composition and the exposure frequency.

Correlated Λd pairs emitted after the absorption of negative kaons at rest Kstop-A->ΛdA' in light nuclei 6Li and 12C are studied. Λ-hyperons and deuterons are found to be preferentially emitted in opposite directions. The Λd invariant mass spectrum of 6Li shows a bump whose mass is 3251+/-6 MeV/c2. The bump mass (binding energy), width and yield are reported. The appearance of a bump is discussed in the realm of the [K@?3N] clustering process in nuclei. The experiment was performed with the FINUDA spectrometer at DAΦNE (LNF).
New results on mesonic weak decay of <i>p</i>-shell <i>Λ</i>-hypernuclei
Agnello, M.,Andronenkov, A.,Beer, G.,Benussi, L.,Bertani, M.,Bhang, H.C.,Bonomi, G.,Botta, E.,Bregant, M.,Bressani, T.,Bufalino, S.,Busso, L.,Calvo, D.,Camerini, P.,Dalena, B.,De Mori, F.,D'Erasmo, G. Elsevier 2009 Physics letters: B Vol.681 No.2
<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The FINUDA experiment performed a systematic study of the charged mesonic weak decay channel of <I>p</I>-shell <I>Λ</I>-hypernuclei. Negatively charged pion spectra from mesonic decay were measured with magnetic analysis for the first time for 7<I>Λ</I>Li, 9<I>Λ</I>Be, 11<I>Λ</I>B and 15<I>Λ</I>N. The shape of the π− spectra was interpreted through a comparison with pion distorted wave calculations that take into account the structure of both hypernucleus and daughter nucleus. Branching ratios Γπ−/Γtot were derived from the measured spectra and converted to π− decay rates Γπ− by means of known or extrapolated total decay widths Γtot of <I>p</I>-shell <I>Λ</I>-hypernuclei. Based on these measurements, the spin-parity assignment 1/2+ for 7<I>Λ</I>Li and 5/2+ for 11<I>Λ</I>B ground-state are confirmed and a spin-parity 3/2+ for 15<I>Λ</I>N ground-state is assigned for the first time.</P>

FINUDA Collaboration,Agnello, M.,Andronenkov, A.,Beer, G.,Benussi, L.,Bertani, M.,Bhang, H.C.,Bonomi, G.,Botta, E.,Bregant, M.,Bressani, T.,Bufalino, S.,Busso, L.,Calvo, D.,Camerini, P.,Caponero, M.,D North-Holland Pub. Co 2008 Physics letters: B Vol.669 No.3
Novel data from the Kstop-A absorption reaction in light nuclei 6,7Li and 9Be are presented. The study aimed at finding Λt correlations. Regardless of A, the Λt pairs are preferentially emitted in opposite directions. Reaction modeling predominantly assigns to the Kstop-A->Λt(N)A' direct reactions the emission of the Λt pairs whose yield is found to range from 10-3 to 10-4/Kstop-. The experiment was performed with the FINUDA spectrometer at DAΦNE (LNF).

The inelastic charge exchange reaction (K+, K0) on 7Li has been experimentally investigated close to threshold with the FINUDA spectrometer at the e+e- collider DAΦNE by searching for KS0 decays. It is the first time that this process has been studied at such low momentum. An upper limit of 2.0 mb (at 95% confidence level) has been measured for the total cross section.
