        1979년부터 중국이 외부세계로부터 개방을 한다는 개혁정책을 실행할 때 FDI의 유입은 법과 정책, 그리고 규정의 변화때문에 많은 성장과 쇠퇴를 거듭하였다. 처음 유입은 꾸준히 늘어났지만 전체적인 분량은 아주 한정되어 있었다. 그이유는 FDI의 활동공간이 4개의 적은 "특별 경제 지역"(SEZs)으로 제한되어 있었기 때문이다. 그후 1980년도 중간에는 FDI 유입이 증가하기 시작했는데 이유는 거대한 영역의 해안벨트와, 그리고 주요한 공업과 금융 센터를 포함해서 "경제와 기술적 개발 지역"(ETDZs)을 수립 하도록 하고, 세금혜택 등 여러가지 외국 기업들을 유치하기 위한 적극적인 정책과 규정들이 마련되었기 때문이다. 천안문 사태가 FDI의 유입을 주춤하게 했지만 곧 성장은 재기 되었으며, 특별히 1992년도 중국은 52개 도시와 지역 그리고 서비스 산업부분도 외부 투자에 문을 열었다.

      • Probabilistic vibration and lifetime analysis of regenerated turbomachinery blades

        Variances in turbomachinery blades caused by manufacturing, operation or regeneration can result in modified structural behavior. In this work, the scatter of geometrical and material properties of a turbine blade and its influence on structure performance is discussed. In particular, the vibration characteristics and the lifetime of a turbine blade are evaluated. Geometrical variances of the surface of the blades are described using the principal component analysis. The scatter in material properties is considered by 16 varying material parameters. Maximum vibration amplitudes and the number of load cycles the turbine blade can withstand are analyzed by finite element simulations incorporating probabilistic principles. The probabilistic simulations demonstrate that both geometrical and material variances have a significant influence on the scatter of vibration amplitude and lifetime. Dependencies are quantified and correlations between varied input parameters and the structural performance of the blade are detected.

        Increased Hepatic Lipogenesis Elevates Liver Cholesterol Content

        Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most common cause of death in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and dyslipidemia is considered at least partially responsible for the increased CVD risk in NAFLD patients. The aim of the present study is to understand how hepatic de novo lipogenesis influences hepatic cholesterol content as well as its effects on the plasma lipid levels. Hepatic lipogenesis was induced in mice by feeding a fat-free/high-sucrose (FF/HS) diet and the metabolic pathways associated with cholesterol were then analyzed. Both liver triglyceride and cholesterol contents were significantly increased in mice fed an FF/HS diet. Activation of fatty acid synthesis driven by the activation of sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP)-1c resulted in the increased liver triglycerides. The augmented cholesterol content in the liver could not be explained by an increased cholesterol synthesis, which was decreased by the FF/HS diet. HMG-CoA reductase protein level was decreased in mice fed an FF/HS diet. We found that the liver retained more cholesterol through a reduced excretion of bile acids, a reduced fecal cholesterol excretion, and an increased cholesterol uptake from plasma lipoproteins. Very low-density lipoproteintriglyceride and -cholesterol secretion were increased in mice fed an FF/HS diet, which led to hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia in Ldlr-/- mice, a model that exhibits a more human like lipoprotein profile. These findings suggest that dietary cholesterol intake and cholesterol synthesis rates cannot only explain the hypercholesterolemia associated with NAFLD, and that the control of fatty acid synthesis should be considered for the management of dyslipidemia.

        European anesthesiologists’ experiences with gender-based mistreatment in the workplace: a secondary multilevel regression analysis

        Background: Workplace gender-based mistreatment (GBM) refers to negative or harmful behaviors directed towards employees. In healthcare settings, this can lead to job dissatisfaction and underperformance and potentially compromise patient outcomes. The aim of this study was to examine workplace GBM among European anesthesiologists and produce the first European Gender-based Mistreatment Rank in Anesthesiology.Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis from a worldwide cross-sectional survey database consisting of a 46-item questionnaire exploring, among other outcomes, gender bias attributable to workplace attitudes. The survey completion rate was 80.8%. All respondents were selected from European countries. Associations between mistreatment and the remaining variables were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. A generalized linear mixed model was then used to quantify the impact of mistreatment in each European country. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: This study included 5,795 respondents from 43 European countries. The independent predictors of GBM were as follows: female gender, younger age, perceiving gender as a disadvantage for leadership, and perceiving gender as a disadvantage for research. The full model was statistically significant, indicating an ability to distinguish between those who experienced GBM and those who did not (P < 0.001). Thus, 26 European countries were ranked based on the prevalence of mistreatment, with Italy showing the best performance (lowest prevalence).Conclusions: The aim of our study was to provide preliminary insight into GBM in anesthesiology in Europe, function as a key benchmark for gender equity, and chart the evolution of disparities over time.

        Observation of the generation of multiple electron beams during a single sheath expansion phase in capacitive RF plasmas

        <P>The fundamental investigation of different electron heating modes is important in order to fully understand the generation of plasmas, as well as to optimize their technological applications. In this study, a capacitively coupled radio-frequency discharge is operated at its limit of comparably low plasma density. Phase resolved optical emission spectroscopy provides insights into the electron dynamics on a nanosecond time scale under these conditions. At low applied voltage amplitudes, it is observed that more than one electron beam is generated within a single phase of sheath expansion at a given electrode. When the voltage amplitude is increased these beams merge in time to a single electron beam. This effect has been predicted by particle in cell/Monte-Carlo collision simulations before and contradicts existing models that assume the generation of a single beam per sheath expansion phase by stochastic heating (Wilczek <I>et al</I> 2015 <I>Plasma Sources Sci. Technol.</I> <B>24</B> 024002; Wilczek <I>et al</I> 2016 <I>Phys. Plasmas</I> <B>23</B> 063514). In this study, results from a systematic experimental study of the effect are presented, which support the theoretically predicted phenomenon.</P>

        Magnetic Field Interactions of Copper-Containing Intrauterine Devices in 3.0-Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging: In Vivo Study

        Objective: An ex vivo study found a copper-containing intrauterine device (IUD) to be safe for women undergoing an MRI examination at a 3.0-T field. No significant artifacts caused by the metallic implant were detected. However, there are still no in vivo data about these concerns. The aim of this study was to evaluate 3.0-T magnetic field interactions of copper-containing IUDs in vivo. Materials and Methods: Magnetic field interactions and potential adverse events were evaluated in 33 women using a questionnaire-based telephone survey. Two experienced radiologists performed artifact evaluation on MR images of the pelvis. Results: Eighteen patients were eligible for the survey. One patient reported a dislocation of the IUD after the MR examination. All other patients had no signs of field interactions. No IUD-related artifacts were found. Conclusion: MRI at 3.0-T is possible for women with copper-containing IUDs. However, consulting a gynecologist to check the correct position of the IUD and exclude complications after an MR examination is highly recommended. High-quality clinical imaging of the female pelvis can be performed without a loss in image quality.

        Paradoxical Stimulatory Response of Remanent Sphincter of Oddi to Buscapina After Endoscopic Sphincterotomy

        Background/Aims Endoscopic removal of bile duct stones has become the treatment of choice, which includes endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) in the majority of cases, destroying at least partially the Oddi sphincter (OS). Loss of sphincter function in variable grade has been described, but changes in innervation are not known. Methods Endoscopic manometry of OS was performed in 14 patients after EST with specialized perfused catheter. Pressure values were registered before and after 10 mg Buscapina injected intravenously. Results Choledocho-duodenal pressure gradient was absent in all of 14 patients. Basal OS pressure was zero in 7 and conserved in normal range in the remaining 7. Phasic motor activity was registered in 11 patients and was absent in 3 patients. After 10 mg Buscapina intravenous injection, instead of habitual inhibition, increase in basal OS pressure and in frequency of phasic contractions was observed in 9 patients. This response was not related to age of patients, neither with time elapsed between the EST and manometry, nor the estimated size of papillotomy orifice. Duodenal peristalsis was invariably inhibited in all patients. Conclusions EST destroys not only the smooth muscle of OS, also alters the innervation interrupting the duodeno-sphincteric nerve circuit. This finding questions the use of Buscapina or other anticholinergic agent as spasmolytic in patients after EST. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2021;27:632-638)
