Surf points based Moving Target Detection and Long-term Tracking in Aerial Videos

        ( Juan-juan Zhu ),( Wei Sun ),( Bao-long Guo ),( Cheng Li ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.11

A novel method based on Surf points is proposed to detect and lock-track single ground target in aerial videos. Videos captured by moving cameras contain complex motions, which bring difficulty in moving object detection. Our approach contains three parts: moving target template detection, search area estimation and target tracking. Global motion estimation and compensation are first made by grids-sampling Surf points selecting and matching. And then, the single ground target is detected by joint spatial-temporal information processing. The temporal process is made by calculating difference between compensated reference and current image and the spatial process is implementing morphological operations and adaptive binarization. The second part improves KALMAN filter with surf points scale information to predict target position and search area adaptively. Lastly, the local Surf points of target template are matched in this search region to realize target tracking. The long-term tracking is updated following target scaling, occlusion and large deformation. Experimental results show that the algorithm can correctly detect small moving target in dynamic scenes with complex motions. It is robust to vehicle dithering and target scale changing, rotation, especially partial occlusion or temporal complete occlusion. Comparing with traditional algorithms, our method enables real time operation, processing 520×390 frames at around 15fps.

Tube Voltage, DNA Double-Strand Breaks, and Image Quality in Coronary CT Angiography

        Lin Zhu Xiao,Zhou Fan,Schoepf U. Joseph,Pillai Balakrishnan,Zhou Chang Sheng,Quan Wei,Bao Xue Qin,Lu Guang Ming,Zhang Long Jiang 대한영상의학회 2020 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.21 No.8

Objective: To evaluate the effects of tube voltage on image quality in coronary CT angiography (CCTA), the estimated radiation dose, and DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in peripheral blood lymphocytes to optimize the use of CCTA in the era of low radiation doses. Materials and Methods: This study included 240 patients who were divided into 2 groups according to the DNA DSB analysis methods, i.e., immunofluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. Each group was subdivided into 4 subgroups: those receiving CCTA only with different tube voltages of 120, 100, 80, or 70 kVp. Objective and subjective image quality was evaluated by analysis of variance. Radiation dosages were also recorded and compared. Results: There was no significant difference in demographic characteristics between the 2 groups and 4 subgroups in each group (all p > 0.05). As tube voltage decreased, both image quality and radiation dose decreased gradually and significantly. After CCTA, γ-H2AX foci and mean fluorescence intensity in the 120-, 100-, 80-, and 70-kVp groups increased by 0.14, 0.09, 0.07, and 0.06 foci per cell and 21.26, 9.13, 8.10, and 7.13 (all p < 0.05), respectively. The increase in the DNA DSB level in the 120-kVp group was higher than those in the other 3 groups (all p < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in the DSBs levels among these latter groups (all p > 0.05). Conclusion: The 100-kVp tube voltage may be optimal for CCTA when weighing DNA DSBs against the estimated radiation dose and image quality, with further reductions in tube voltage being unnecessary for CCTA.

      • Joint Pricing and Load Balancing for Cognitive Spectrum Access: Non-Cooperation Versus Cooperation

Tran, Nguyen H.,Long Bao Le,Shaolei Ren,Zhu Han,Choong Seon Hong IEEE 2015 IEEE journal on selected areas in communications Vol.33 No.5

In the dynamic spectrum access (DSA), pricing is an efficient approach providing economic incentives for operators, whereas load balancing yields congestion-avoidance incentives for secondary users (SUs). Despite complexities of 1) the couplings among pricing, load balancing, and SUs' spectrum access decision, and 2) the heterogeneity of primary users' traffic and SUs classes/types, we tackle the joint load balancing and pricing problem to maximize operators' revenue in two cognitive radio markets: monopoly and duopoly. For the monopoly market, we first show there exists a unique SUs' equilibrium arrival rate to the monopolist's channels. We then show that the joint problem can be solved efficiently by exploiting its convex structure. For the duopoly market, we first characterize a unique SUs' equilibrium arrival rate to two operators employing different DSA approaches. When two operators are noncooperative, we show that there exists a unique Nash equilibrium for each operator's revenue. When they are cooperative, we show that the social revenue optimization can achieve a unique optimal solution. Using the Nash bargaining framework, we also present a sharing contract that determines the optimal fraction of the social revenue for each operator. In both markets, we propose two algorithms that can find the largest SU class supportable by the operators.

Genome-wide analysis of codon usage bias patterns in an enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli F18 strain

        Ri Wei Xia,Wen Bin Bao,Xue Mei Yin,Wei Yun Qin,Guo Qiang Zhu,Sheng Long Wu 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.11

Enterogenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) F18 strains are the main pathogenic bacteria causing severe diarrhea in humans and domestic animals. However, the information about synonymous codon usage pattern of ETEC F18 genome remains unclear. We conducted a genome-wide analysis of synonymous codon usage patterns in the ETEC F18 strain SRA: SAMN02471895. After filtering of the complete genome sequence, 4327 coding sequences were analyzed using multivariate statistical methods to calculate synonymous codon usage patterns and to evaluate the influence of various factors in shaping the codon usage. The mean GC content was 51.38%, with a slight preference for G/C-ending codons. Twenty-two codons were determined as ‘‘optimal codons”. ENC plots showed some of the genes were on or close to the expected curve, while only points with low-ENC values were below the curve. PR2 analysis showed that GC and AT were not used proportionally, suggesting major roles for mutational pressure and natural selection in shaping usage. Neutrality plots showed a significant correlation between GC12 and GC3, suggesting that mutational pressure is responsible for nucleotide composition in shaping the strength of codon usage. Translational selection was the main factor shaping the codon usage pattern of ETEC F18 genome, while other factors such as protein length, GRAVY and ARO values also influenced codon usage to some extent. We analyzed the codon usage pattern systematically and identified the factors shaping codon usage bias in the ETEC F18 genome. Such information further elucidates the mechanisms of synonymous codon usage bias and provides the basis of molecular genetic engineering and evolutionary studies.

Optimal Pricing for Duopoly in Cognitive Radio Networks: Cooperate or not Cooperate?

Do, Cuong T.,Tran, Nguyen H.,Zhu Han,Long Bao Le,Sungwon Lee,Choong Seon Hong IEEE 2014 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS Vol.13 No.5

Pricing is an effective approach for spectrum access control in cognitive radio (CR) networks. In this paper, we study the pricing effect on the equilibrium behaviors of selfish secondary users' (SUs') data packets which are served by a CR base station (BS). From the SUs' point of view, a spectrum access decision on whether to join the queue of the BS or not is characterized through an individual optimal strategy that is joining the queue with a joining probability. This strategy also requires each SU to know the average queueing delay, which is a non-trivial problem. Toward this end, we provide queueing delay analysis by using the M/G/1 queue with breakdown. From the BS's point of view, we consider a duopoly market based on the two paradigms: the opportunistic dynamic spectrum access (O-DSA) and the mixed O-DSA & dedicated dynamic spectrum access (D-DSA). In the first paradigm, two co-located opportunistic-spectrum BSs utilize freely spectrum-holes to serve SUs. Then, we show the advantages of the cooperative scenario due to the unique solution that can be obtained in a distributed manner by using the dual decomposition algorithms. For the second paradigm, there are one opportunistic-spectrum BS and one dedicated-spectrum BS. We study a price competition between two BSs as a Stackelberg game. The cooperative behavior between two BSs is modeled as a bargaining game. In both paradigms, bargain revenues of the cooperation are always higher than those due to competition in both cases. Extensive numerical analysis is used to validate our derivation.

      • Coupling Model of Moisture-heat-stress Fields of Subgrade in Seasonal Frozen Soil Regions to Freeze-thaw Cycles

        ( Xiaoning Li ),( Si-xiang Ling ),( Chun-wei Sun ),( Bao-long Zhu ),( Ming-uuan Sun ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

This work addresses the freeze-thaw cycles of subgrade in seasonal permafrost region western Sichuan plateau. The mechanism of freeze-thaw cycle effect of seasonal frozen subgrade under freeze-thaw cycle is explained. The analysis results show that the variation tendency of the simulated results are in good agreement with that of the field measured results. The freezing depth of the slope foot is smaller than that of the natural ground and is larger than that of the roadbed, which is affected by the freeze-thaw cycle effect, the freezing depth of the roadbed is more easily and the freezing depth is further increased. During the freezing period, a freezing front quickly forms at the natural ground surface with the water below migrates to it. The variation of the saturation at the maximum freezing depth is affected not only by the ambient temperature of the surface boundary during the melting period, but also by the continuous downward flow of cold energy, which makes the ambient temperature down to the freezing temperature, resulting in a short period of freezing, and in consequence, the saturation decreases briefly. Under the same circumstances, the closer the freezing front is to the underground water level, the smaller the frost heave and thawing settlement rate are. The water-thermal coupling effect has a further affect on the frost heaving rate.
