Drivers of Small Business Competitive Advantage: A Study on Flower Shop Product Distribution in Bali

        SUASANA i gusti agung ketut gede,RIANA i gede,SANTIKA i wayan,MAHADEWI anak agung ayu diah puspita 한국유통과학회 2024 유통과학연구 Vol.22 No.1

Purpose: Rapid technological advancements and information dissemination have catalyzed a steep upsurge in the distribution of ornamental flower arrangement products, effectively meeting the burgeoning demands of customers. This research endeavours to elucidate the relationship between market orientation (MO) and competitive advantage (CA), with the intermediary role of marketing performance (MP) within Denpasar's flower arrangement retail sector. Research Methods: Conducted within a Denpasar-based flower shop, the study engaged 94 respondents through a questionnaire-based data collection methodology. Utilizing a saturated sampling approach, the sample size equated to the population size. The analysis employed SmartPLS, a robust statistical tool. Results: The study findings reveal that MO does not exert a statistically significant direct impact on CA. Nevertheless, MO exhibits a substantively positive and statistically significant influence on MP, which, in turn, substantially and significantly contributes to CA. For flower arrangement business owners, it is imperative to orchestrate effective control over their marketing performance. Conclusion: This involves nurturing enduring customer and employee relationships by steadily implementing market-oriented distribution strategies. By doing so, customer satisfaction and growth, pivotal in bolstering marketing performance, can be adeptly sustained, ultimately culminating in attaining competitive advantage.

The Inhibitory Effect of the Caffeoylquinic acid-Rich Extract of Ligularia stenocephala Leaves on Obesity in the High Fat Diet-Induced Rat

2010 Natural Product Sciences Vol.16 No.2

High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis on the MeOH extract of Ligularia stenocephala leaves identified six caffeoylquinic acids, viz. 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 3,5-di-O-caffeoyl-muco-quinic acid, 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, and 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid using standard compounds, and determined the quantity of each extract. Percentage of total caffeoylquinic acids of the MeOH extract and its BuOH fraction were calculated as 67.83 ? 3.79% and 94.52 ? 1.84%, respectively. Since the caffeoylquinic acid-rich MeOH extract exhibited a potent peroxynitrite-scavenging effect in vitro (IC50 = 0.87 ? 0.33 mg/ml (mean ? SEM)), the experiment was designed to identify whether or not that extract has an anti-obesity effect on rat obesity induced by high fat diet. Oral administration of the MeOH extract and its BuOH fraction abundant in caffeoylquinic acid decreased the rat body weight to the level of untreated group and decreased abdominal fat pad weight. The atherogenic index and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance (TBARS) values were restored by treatment, indicating that the caffeoylquinic acid-rich extract probably inhibited hyperlipidemia and oxidative stress caused by high fat diet. These results suggest that L. stenocephala in vegetable form or its caffeoylquinic acid-rich fraction (BuOH fraction) as an agent can be used for treatment or prevention of obesity.

Phytochemical Analysis of the Phenolic Fat-Suppressing Substances in the Leaves of Lactuca raddeana in 3T3-L1 Adipocytes

2015 Natural Product Sciences Vol.21 No.1

Lactuca raddeana (Compositae) is used to treat obesity and complications due to diabetes. The five phenolic compounds including chlorogenic acid, chicoric acid, luteolin 7-O-glucoside, luteolin 7-O-glucuronide, luteolin were qualitatively identified by LC-ESI-MS analysis. The contents were quantitatively determined by HPLC, under the condition of a Capcell Pak C18 column (5 mm, 250 mm ? 4.6 mm i.d.) and a gradient elution of 0.05% trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and 0.05% TFA in MeOH-H2O (60 : 40). The contents of chicoric acid (100.99 mg/g extract) and luteolin 7-O-glucoside (101. 69 mg/g extract) were high, while those of other three phenolic substances were very low. The 3T3-L1 adipocyte cells treated with chicoric acid and luteolin 7-O-glucuronide significantly suppressed the accumulation of fat, suggesting they are effective against obesity. Since high level of peroxynitrite (ONOO) causes cardiovascular disease in obese patients, its scavenging activity was also studied.

Quantitative Determination of Five Phenolic Peroxynitrite-scavengers in Nine Korean Native Compositae herbs

2015 Natural Product Sciences Vol.21 No.3

Peroxynitrite (ONOO-)-scavenging activities of nine Compositae herbs consisting of three Ixeris, two Youngia, two Cirsium and one of each Lactuca and Taraxacum species were evaluated. The contents of their ONOO- scavengers in the extracts were also determined on a HPLC using seven standard compounds, chlorogenic acid (CGA), chicoric acid (CA), luteolin 7-glucoside (luteolin-7-glc), luteolin 7-glucuronide (luteolin-7-glcU), luteolin, linarin and pectolinarin. Five of those compounds exhibited potent ONOO--scavenging activities: IC50, CA (0.76 mM), CGA (1.34 mM), luteolin (0.81 mM), luteolin-7-glc (0.86 mM) and luteolin-7-glcU (3.13 mM). Both CA and luteolin-7-glc were highly contained in I. dentata (19.71 mg/g and 13.58 mg/g, respectively), I. dentata var. albiflora (17.58 mg/g and 23.83 mg/g, respectively) and I. sonchifolia (65.71 mg/g and 6.99 mg/g, respectively). Among the nine herbs, those three Ixeris species had very low IC50 values over the range of 0.48 - 1.74 mg/mL, suggesting that they could be potential therapeutic vegetables, particularly for preventing diabetic complications or obesity, which can be caused by an excess production of ONOO-.

2011 Natural Product Sciences Vol.17 No.4

This study was performed to determine the composition of phenolic substances contained in the leaves of Cirsium setidens (Compositae), validate the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method, and determine the in vivo sedative effect of the main component pectolinarin. Six phenolic compounds isolated from C. setidens were spectroscopically identified as chlorogenic acid (1), hyperoside (2), 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (3), caffeic acid methyl ester (4), linarin (5), and pectolinarin (6) and then used as standard compounds for HPLC analysis. HPLC proved to be precise, accurate, and sensitive for the simultaneous analysis of the phenolic substances. In particular, six compounds showed good regression (R2 > 0.999) within test ranges and recovery was in the range of 95.4 - 104.8%. The content of pectolinarin was considerably higher (156.48 mg/g) than those of other phenolic substances including the other flavone glycoside, linarin (18.99 mg/g). The contents of other phenolic substances, in order, were chlorogenic acid (8.41 mg/g), 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (5.74 mg/g), hyperoside (4.33 mg/g), and caffeic acid methyl ester (0.51 mg/g). Oral administration with compound 6 (10 and 20 mg/kg) enhanced the sleeping time induced by pentobarbital in mice, indicating that it has a sedative effect.

Vol.25 No.5

This research was attempted to determine the composition of flavone glycosides (luteolin 7-O-glucoside, luteolin 7-O-glucuronide, linarin) in addition to luteolin simultaneously in aerial part of Youngia japonica (Compositae) by high-performance liquid chromatography. The MeOH extract was further fractionated into the three parts, CHCl3 fraction,EtOAc fraction and BuOH fraction, to investigate the contents of the four flavones in the three fractions. The content of luteolin 7-O-glucuronide (10.07 mg/g) was highest in the MeOH extract among those of the flavones. These four compounds were observed to be less than 1.0 mg/g in CHCl3- and EtOAc fractions but relatively high in BuOH fraction.

High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Quantification and Validation of Luteolin Glycosides from Sonchus brachyotus and Their Peroxynitrite-Scavenging Activity

2012 Natural Product Sciences Vol.18 No.1

In Korea, the leaves of Sonchus brachyotus (Compositae), an edible mountainous vegetable, are traditionally used to treat hepatitis and hemorrhage and are known to have diuretic action. The aqueous ethanolic extract of this plant was selected in our screening experiment using the peroxynitrite (ONO2-)-scavenging assay, and the present study was performed to qualitatively and quantitatively identify the active compounds from S. brachyotus and validate the present high-permormance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with ultraviolet absorption detection method based on accuracy, precision and repeatability. Five phenolic substances including the main compound, luteolin 7-O-b-D-glucuronopyranoside, as well as chlorogenic acid, luteolin 7-O-rutinoside, luteolin 7-O-b-D-glucopyranoside, and luteolin, were found in the aqueous ethanolic extract of S. brachyotus. In the HPLC validation experiment, the linearity of the four compounds was established by R2 values of more than 0.999 within the test ranges, and the recovery rate ranged from 98.2 - 105.3%. Luteolin 7-O-glucuronide was a predominant compound (143 mg/g of extract and 18.3 mg/g of the dry weight of plant material) with a potent peroxynitrite-scavenging effect (IC50, 1.02 ? 0.08 ?M). Luteolin and its three glycosides together with chlorogenic acid were qualitatively and quantitatively determined using an HPLC method validated in the present study.

Study of Genetic Diversity among Simmental Cross Cattle in West Sumatra Based on Microsatellite Markers

        Agung, Paskah Partogi,Saputra, Ferdy,Septian, Wike Andre,Lusiana, Lusiana,Zein, Moch. Syamsul Arifin,Sulandari, Sri,Anwar, Saiful,Wulandari, Ari Sulistyo,Said, Syahruddin,Tappa, Baharuddin Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.2

A study was conducted to assess the genetic diversity among Simmental Cross cattle in West Sumatra using microsatellite DNA markers. A total of 176 individual cattle blood samples was used for obtaining DNA samples. Twelve primers of microsatellite loci as recommended by FAO were used to identify the genetic diversity of the Simmental Cross cattle population. Multiplex DNA fragment analysis method was used for allele identification. All the microsatellite loci in this study were highly polymorphic and all of the identified alleles were able to classify the cattle population into several groups based on their genetic distance. The heterozygosity values of microsatellite loci in this study ranged from 0.556 to 0.782. The polymorphism information content (PIC) value of the 12 observed loci is high (PIC>0.5). The highest PIC value in the Simmental cattle population was 0.893 (locus TGLA53), while the lowest value was 0.529 (locus BM1818). Based on the genetic distance value, the subpopulation of the Simmental Cross-Agam and the Simmental Cross-Limapuluh Kota was exceptionally close to the Simmental Purebred thus indicating that a grading-up process has taken place with the Simmental Purebred. In view of the advantages possessed by the Simmental Cross cattle and the evaluation of the genetic diversity results, a number of subpopulations in this study can be considered as the initial (base) population for the Simmental Cross cattle breeding programs in West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Quantification of Antidepressant Miquelianin in Mature and Immature Fruits of Korean Rubus Species

2014 Natural Product Sciences Vol.20 No.4

Antidepressant miquelianin (quercetin 3-O-glucuronide) was isolated from the leaves of Rubus craetaegifolius (Rosaceae) and identified by physical and spectroscopic data. Miquelianin was quantitatively analyzed in the leaves, mature and premature fruits of Korean wild R. craetagifolius, R. pungens var. oldhami, R. coreanus, and R. parvifolius by HPLC. The contents of miquelianin was highest in the mature fruit of R. crataegifolius (16.29 ± 0.79 mg/g); however, the content of kaempferol 3-O-glucuronide was 33.88 ± 7.68 mg/g. These results suggest that the mature fruit of R. crataegifolius would be beneficial for treating depression or stress as a functional food with its sweet taste.
