The image of the "City" A comparative Literary study between "A journey to Seoul" by the Korean poet "Kim Kwang Kyu" with "A City without heart" by the Egyptian poet "Ahmad Abdul Mouty Hejazy

        ( Mahmoud Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar ) 한국아랍어아랍문학회 2011 아랍어와 아랍문학 Vol.15 No.1

The image of the city became the main theme, and started to play an important rhetoric role in poetic works during the Second World War period in the modern Egyptian poetry. As a result of the war, changes in the Arab world occurred not only in politics, economics, society and history, but also in literature. Korean literature has changed after the Second World War too, but, as much as I know, the city didn`t become the main theme in poetry, the main reason, as I think, is that Arabic poetry followed the steps of the modern western poetry, classic, romantic, realistic, and the free verse, while the modern Korean poetry kept his own view point from one side, and made a successful connection with literature from the whole world, from the other side. In his first anthology "City without heart" Hejazy he has two views of the city. The first was a rejection of the city, and a yearning to return to his village and be with the people there. The second was the development of a compromise with the city. The poet felt real love and through his growing acceptance, he managed to see the good side of the city alongside the bad. The city of Kim Kwang Kyu is wetness for what happened to Korea and Korean society back further more three or four decades, where, for example, pollution and death were everywhere sensed and reported, so his poems offer an impressive selfportrait of a society in which everyone is reduced. The dominant tone of his collection is not a sentimental regret for the past, but a dark satire of the dehumanizing results of those processes which the public authorities often term "modernization". The study will shed light on "City" and the methods employed in the technical literature of the writers. The study comparatively addressed the object lessons found in the meaning of the writers on one hand, while, on the other hand, looked at the main technical characteristics of the poets using analysis models of poetry. Hejazy was one of the first Arab poets talking about the city not only in one poem but in a whole collection, showing its ugly face, seeking for better life that can use the benefits of modernity without losing the great values that people already still have in the country side for example. It is one of the achievements of Kim Kwang Kyu`s poems that they have made many aware of the deeper roots of the frequently criticized attitudes of selfishness and compromise they seem at first sight to characterize the modern urban mentality. He explores in his poems topics that more often the subjects of novels and short stories than of lyric verse. Thus the conclusion of these poems for modern humanity is that it is within the present reality that another, dreamed-of reality of freedom and truth has to be constructed by choice and by struggle.

A study on the effects of thermal treatments and gamma rays irradiation on expired “Helixone” membranes

        Abdul Ghaffar Al Lafi,Hiba Dada,Hamdi Harmalani 한국고분자학회 2023 Macromolecular Research Vol.31 No.9

Polysulfones (PSF) are specialty thermoplastics that are commonly used in dialysis membranes production. In the present work, the effects of γ-rays irradiation and thermal treatments on the expired PSF dialysis membranes (Helixone) were investigated with the purpose of reusing them. Irradiation below 35 kGy or thermal treatments at temperatures below 150 °C were proven not to affect the essential characteristics of the membranes, but chemical as well as morphological changes start to appear at a dose of 35 kGy as well as at a treatment temperature above 150 °C. Structural analysis of the membranes before and after treatments indicated that two mechanisms could be suggested for membranes properties deterioration. Oxidation of the polymer was the main mechanism on irradiation treatment, while polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) degradation and elution were more pronounced in thermal treatments. Both type of treatments at moderate conditions improved the hydrophilicity and water uptake of the membranes but these properties progressively deteriorate at irradiation dose of 35 kGy and at treatment temperature above 150 °C. A method of reactivating expired Helixone was suggested by reloading of PVP followed by treatments in buffer solution at pH = 7.2 for 12 h. This was shown to decrease the PVP elution by 10% in comparison with the un-treated membrane.

The role of service quality in enhancing brand authenticity through the moderation effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR)

        Abdul Ghaffar,Tahir Islam,Tomas Kincl,Abdul Hakeem,Anshuman Sharma 한국마케팅과학회 2023 마케팅과학연구 Vol.33 No.3

This paper aims to examine the impact of service quality and corporate social responsibility (CSR) on brand authenticity and determine the moderating effects of CSR on the relationship between service quality and brand authenticity. Survey data was collected from 472 customers of Karachi, Pakistan’s four major medical diagnostic laboratories, through the convenience sampling technique. The quantitative method was used. To collect information from respondents, a self-administered questionnaire is used. We utilized the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique to analyze data. The results show that CSR, service quality, and brand authenticity are related in medical diagnostic and research laboratories. Research findings indicate that service quality and CSR directly and positively impact brand authenticity. In addition, CSR moderates the effect between service quality and brand authenticity. Managers can see corporate social responsibility as an intangible value that goes along with high-quality services and makes medical diagnostic and research laboratory services more authentic.

New fossil remains of family Cervidae from the Dhok Pathan Formation (Middle Siwaliks) of Pakistan

        Abdul Ghaffar,Muhammad Akhtar,Muhammad Akbar Khan,Muhammad Khaled Siddiq 한국지질과학협의회 2015 Geosciences Journal Vol.19 No.4

Five mandibular fragments from the Early Pliocene of Dhok Pathan and Hasnot (Middle Siwaliks) are described and discussed. Detailed comparison of the studied material with already known and described species of family Cervidae from the Siwaliks allow us to refer this material to genus Rucervus and species Rucervus cf. simplicidens. The material described here also extends the stratigraphic range of this genus from Upper Siwaliks to Middle Siwaliks. The fossil material described from the Early Pliocene, is thus important to indicate the older stratigraphic range as described earlier from the Siwalik continental deposits.

Rate-based simulation and comparison of various promoters for CO2 capture in industrial DEA-promoted potassium carbonate absorption unit

Tohid Nejad Ghaffar Borhani,Vahid Akbari,Mohammad Kamaruddin Abdul Hamid,Zainuddin Abdul Manan 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.22 No.-

Diethanolamine (DEA)-promoted potassium carbonate process for CO2 removal is modelled using ratebasedapproach and Electrolyte NRTLmodel. Acceptable agreements between the simulation results andthe experimental data are achieved. The effectiveness of monoethanolamine (MEA), diglycolamine(DGA), diisopropanolamine (DIPA), and methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) as promoters are investigated. MEA shows promising performance for CO2 removal. The CO2 absorptions by DGA and DIPA are goodenough, but their prices are higher than MEA and DEA. The CO2 absorption byMDEA is not significant andit cannot be used as a promoter. A parametric study is performed to assess the effects of importantprocess parameters.

        Ahmed Suhaib,Ghaffar Abdul,Zaheer Zaidi Syed Shahid,Islam Tahir,Khan Muhammad Mumtaz,Islam Fazila,Kincl Tomas,Sheikh Altaf Ahmed 한국마케팅과학회 2024 마케팅과학연구 Vol.34 No.2

Factors developing brand loyalty through social media influencers (SMIs) are immensely important to academics and marketing practitioners since it is a remarkable driver of organizational success. This research investigates the impact of SMIs homophily in developing customer brand engagement (CBE) and its impact on BL. We collected valid data from 412 respondents using laptop brands in Pakistan and used structural equation modeling to analyze the data. The findings indicate that the SMIs homophily is crucial in establishing CBE and BL. The results further show that CBE’s emotional and cognitive dimensions significantly mediate the relationship between SMIs homophily and BL. However, the emotional CBE has a stronger mediating impact on BL. The study provides valuable insights for brandmanagers to hire SMIs who resemble their fans to grab their loyalty toward the brand. This study unfolds new avenues in social media marketing, consumer behavior, and branding literature by understanding the association between SMIs homophily, CBE, and BL.

        Islam Tahir,Khan Mumtaz,Ghaffar Abdul,Wang Ying,Mubarik Muhammad Shujaat,Ali Imtiaz Haider,Shahid Zubair Ali,Rehmani Mahmood,Sharma Anshuman 한국마케팅과학회 2023 마케팅과학연구 Vol.33 No.1

This research examines the underlying mechanism through which corporate social responsibility (CSR) influences customer loyalty in the hospitality sector. A survey conducted in three popular tourist cities in China reveals that CSR positively impacts customer loyalty through institutional-level constructs, including corporate image and sustained competitive advantage, and individual-level constructs, including customer trust and customer satisfaction. Moreover, the core capabilities of organizations moderate the effect of CSR on corporate image and sustained competitive advantage. Corporate image sustained advantage, and customer satisfaction also mediates the relationship between CSR and customer loyalty. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
