Translation challenges from foreign literature
Alisher Otaboev 한국중동학회 2013 韓國 中東 學會 論叢 Vol.34 No.3
In this article some metaphoric comparisons of Russian and Uzbek versions with the original in the artwork “The Moon and Sixpence” compared and defined its pros and cons. Here searched alternative ways of translating into Uzbek the stylistic techniques used in the artworks of the author basing on the certain examples. In this article also have been discussed the issues on translating the samples from Foreign Literature into Uzbek that has become one of the very crucial literary translation challenges in Uzbekistan. The author gives a brief information about the achievements of Uzbek translation and its background and heal so mentioned that during the Soviet period most samples of World Literature have been done by Russian translation. He revealed that the translation through indirect language caused to keep the art work far away from the originality through comparing Russia and Uzbek translation (with its English version) of the art work “The Moon and Six pence”written by S. Maugham. In the article how the stylistic versions should be translated and in practice – how this requirement implemented in the novel “The Moon and Sixpence” have been proofed with the help of concrete examples. As such, in this article the Russian and Uzbek versions of this novel have been compared with the original artwork and defined some metaphoric comparisons and its pros and cons. The author basing on the certain examples stated that alternative ways of translating metaphoric comparisons and the stylistic techniques used in the artwork shave provided the success of the translator.
Tensions between Domestic and International Law for Supremacy in Uzbekistan
Alisher Umirdinov,Akhadjon Khakimov 한국법제연구원 2020 KLRI journal of law and legislation Vol.10 No.2
In their respective constitutions, Central Asian countries have boldly embraced international law and its universalist values. Uzbekistan, the most densely populated country of the region, is no exception. Consequently, one could expect that individuals may considerably benefit from the application and enforcement of international norms in domestic courts. Primarily, this paper seeks to clarify this assumption and investigate the contentious issues between international and domestic law in Uzbekistan. The authors argue that while the country has performed remarkably through joining international organizations and through contracting or acceding to bilateral and multilateral treaties, numerous problems remain unresolved. Although Uzbekistan nominally adopts a monist approach to international law by giving it precedence over domestic law, in practice, however, the country is taking quite a similar approach to Western countries with common law jurisdictions when it comes to incorporating international legal norms into their respective legal systems. In many of the instances examined by the authors, the Oliy Majlis (Uzbek Parliament) adopted a particular statute to implement the international obligations of Uzbekistan. While this may be viewed a sound move to clarify the relationship between domestic and international law norms in the courts, low levels of awareness concerning international law among judges and the public, coupled with the reluctance of the Supreme Court to guide lower courts on such matters raise barriers towards the successful implementation of international norms in Uzbekistan.

Various management systems are being broadly em- ployed to minimize crop yield loss resulting from abi- otic and biotic stresses. Here we introduce a Bacillus zanthoxyli HS1 strain as a potent candidate for manag- ing manifold stresses on vegetable plants. Considering 16S rDNA sequence and biochemical characteristics, the strain is closely related to B. zanthoxyli. The B. zanthoxyli HS1 s soil-drench confers disease resistance on tomato and paprika plants against infection with Ralstonia solanacearum and Phytophthora capsici, re- spectively. Root and shoot growths are also increased in B. zanthoxyli HS1-treated cabbage, cucumber, and tomato plants, compared with those in mock-treated plants, after application of high salinity solution. More- over, the pretreatment of B. zanthoxyli HS1 on cabbage plants inhibits the degradation of chloroplast pigments caused by high salinity stresses, whereas the inhibitory effect is not observed in cucumber plants. These find- ings suggest that B. zanthoxyli HS1 stain inhibits disease development and confers tolerance to salinity stress on vegetable plants.
