For the durable antimicrobial finish of the cellulose fabric, the cellulose fabrics were treated with the stabilized zirconyl chloride buffer solution varying the concertration, reaction temperature and reaction time, and the optimum conditions for introducing zirconium complex to cellulose were found. The fabrics containing zirconium complex were reacted with hexachlorophene and neomycin sulfate for imparting antimicrobial activity. Zirconium contents in the treated fabrics were estimated by X-ray fluorscence and the contents of antimicrobial agents reacetd were evaluated by quantitative analysis of nitrogen and chlorine. zirconyl chloride formed the stabilized Zirconium complex(hydrous zirconium oxide) in the buffer solution of PH7 prepared withtriethanolamine and hydrochloride acid. The optimum conditions for reacting zirconium complex to cellulose fabric were 8%(owf), 60。C and 150 minute. The cellulosic fabric reacted with hexachlorophene and neomycin sulfate via zirconium complex as medium shows durable antimicrobial activity by the controlled-release mechanism. Therefore, the method introducing the antimicrobial agents to the cellulose fabric using the zirconium complex as medium is considered to the applied to all the an timicrobial agants having the structure which can combine with zirconium complex.

In order to investigate the biological utilization of defatted rice bran and Comfrey (Symphytum Peregrinum) meal protein, single comb White Leghorn male chicks were fed for the first 10 days on a commercial chick mash, For the subsequent 6 days on protein-free diet and for the next 6 days on the protein-free diet and diets substituted 17.0% of defatted rice bran and Comfrey meal with cellulose of the protein-free diet, respectively. Daily weight gain of the chicks fed protein-free diet was -5.2 g and those of the birds fed defataed rice bran and Comfrey meal diets were -1.3 and -2.3 g, respectively. Birds fed defatted rice bran consumed 76.6 g of diet which is greater than 47.2 g consumed by those fed Comfrey meal diet. Defatted rice bran and Comfrey protein were evaluated to be -0.46 and -1.13 for protein efficiency ratio, 1.42 and 1.36 for net protein ratio and 87.3 and 89.2 % for biological value. Protein digestibility and net protein utilization of defatted rice bran was higher compared with those of Comfrey .meal. The results indicated that Comfrey meal may contain an unknown substance which might have influenced feed intake and protein digestibility.

In this paper, the effect of the volcanic ash dyed on cotton knitted fabrics was &died in various ways. A cationic agent was used to improve the depth of color of the fabric in the dyeing process. K/S values of dyed fabrics were measured to examine the dyeing properties. Cationic agent pretreatment, followed by dyeing with volcanic ash, was tested. In the dyeing experiment, the effects of a wide range of parameters such as the concerntration of cationic agent, treatment time, treatment temperature and htment pH of the dyebath were studied. Experimental results showed that the pretreatment with cationic agent improved the dyeing properties of cotton knitted fabrics with volcanic ash. At this point, concentration of cationic agent was 4%ton weight of fabric), treatment time was 40minutes, treatment temperature was 80 C and treatment pH of the dyebath was a neutral condition.
