This paper presents a new modeling method using lamp output power and the modeling coefficients of the lamp. The proposed method utilizes the lamp modeling coefficients such as equivalent impedance Z(p), coupling coefficient of the transformer k(p), turns ratio of the transformer n(p), and plasma resistance Rp(p) as a function of lamp output power. The equivalent impedance Z(p) was developed from the equivalent resistance Req(p) and equivalent inductance Leq(p) of the lamp. Simulation and experimental results of the proposed model are presented in order to validate the proposed method. The modeling method can use to design an impedance matching circuit for a Class-D inverter.

This paper proposed the voltage compulsion method that used chopper for light dimming control of fluorescent lamp. During the dimming period, electronic ballasts have the bad characteristics such as low power factor, high THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) and etc. The proposed dimmer improves power factor, THD of electronic ballast and has benefit such as low cost, simple build up.

We developed the electronic ballast for the street HID lamps with the leakage current detection and circuit breaker function. By detecting the leakage current and breaking the system, we are protected from the electric shock and the ballast is safe from the electric damage at the time of the continuous reignition state.

본 논문은 메탈헬라이드 램프들의 이그니션 특성 비교 분석을 위하여 이그니션 구간에서의 전압, 전류 및 순시임피던스(time varying resist ance), 순시전력(time varying power)을 측정하고 분석하였고, 측정 및 분석을 위하여 램프의 종류(B형, BT형)와 제조회사가 다른 램프 6종을 선택하여 사용하였다. 분석결과, 제조회사별, 램프 상태 등에 따라 이그니션 특성이 매우 상이하게 나타났으며, 대부분의 램프 이그니션 전류가 40[A]를 상회하고 있고, 특히 몇몇 램프의 이그니션 전류는 50[A] 이상으로 나타났다. 따라서 메탈헬라이드 램프들의 이그니션 전류는 정상상태보다 큰 이그니션 전류 및 순시전력이 발생되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 전자식 안정기 설계 시, 특정 램프 뿐만 아니라 여러 램프의 이그니션 전류를 만족하는 설계가 필요하며, 메탈헬라이드 램프 시공 시, 램프의 이그니션 구간에서 발생하는 l~2[㎸] 고전압 및 50[A] 이상의 대전류에 따른 적절한 안전사고 대책 및 관동회로의 절연, 전선 굵기 선정이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
HID 램프를 위한 전자식 안정기의 LCC 공진 인버터의 최적 설계

This paper presents a new method for determining L, Cs, and Cp in a series parallel resonant inverter. This inverter is suitable for driving high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. The operating frequency is selected to avoid acoustic resonances which are governed by the size and shape of the arc tube. L, Cs and Cp, are chosen to satisfy the ignition and steady state requirements of the lamp. Equations are developed to analyze the starting condition and steady state operating condition of the lamp. For the prototype ballast for a 250W Metal Halide Lamp, experimental results are presented in order to validate the proposed method.
HID 램프용 안정기의 점화기 특성부석 및 제어용 IC의 동작영향 분석

In this paper, four types of igniters were modeled and their characteristics were researched. And then we analyzed and experimented the effect on the control IC operation in this system. Due to the high ignidon voltage, the DC power line on control IC is contaminated with the impulsive noise voltage. So the control IC operation is stopped. Therefore we have found that contamination of DC power noise is reduced by shielding, grounding pattern, and filtering method. We showed that the experimental results are agreed with the theoridcal value obtained by the four types of ignitor models.
