W. C. Williams의 Paterson, Book Five에 나타난 Unicorn의 제의적 의미

Paterson is a long poem in five parts. Williams originally planned that it would consist of four Books. But Book Five appeared in 1958, seven years after the publication of Book Four. Book Five was much more metaphorical in style than Books One∼Four. Thus many critics commented on the unity of the poem and considered Book Five as the afterthought of Books One~Four. But Book Five is a vital addition to the development of the poem, not as a unity directly continuous with Books One~Four, but as an interpretation of them. It means that Book Five is the deconstruction of the dream of Books One~Four, which destroys the idea of literature as self-sufficient. Book Five is a poem about the origination power of language, and about the inevitable failure of the poet to give ontological status to his poem. It is about the impossibility of capturing the Unicorn, the Word, without murdering it, or of revealing the essence of language without disclosing its fictive status. It ritualizes the pursuit of the missing center through its dominant theme, the Uncorn tapestries.

In his long poem Paterson, Williams tries to perceive the general, universal vision of life by meditating about the particular, concrete materials. As local materials, he uses the city Paterson, the falls Passaic, and the river Passaic. They all embody universal and symbolic meaning beyond their local quality and these meanings in turn give the organic unity to the diffused elements. The symbol of water among them shows how language and locality get joined together. The river flows through the city Paterson and also runs through the four books of Paterson. Its stream, compared to the stream of consciousness, works as the force unfolding the poem. The waterfalls cutting the loin of the river are the symbol of unrefined common language. The poet should comb the cataract of language falling like tangled plaits from the cliff and lift into expression the things and the inhabitants in the local area. Thus he has to create the living myth, giving them vitality and energy.

근거-기반 실천(evidence based practice, EBP)의 세 가지 핵심 요소 중 하나는 심리서비스 제공자의 전문성이다. 근거-기반 심리서비스의 질을 좌우하는 것은 서비스 제공자의 전문성을 규정할 수 있는 자격요건이다. 한국의 경우, 심리서비스 관련으로 등록된 민간자격의 수가 3천개 이상으로 제대로 관리되지 않은 민간자격은 혼란을 야기하며 국민들이 비전문적이고 비윤리적인 심리서비스에 노출될 위험을 높인다. 본 연구는 국내 주요 심리서비스 관련 민간자격에 대한 공개된 데이터를 기반으로 자격에 명시된 심리서비스 유형, 제공 대상 및 요구되는취득 요건 등 구체적인 특징을 분석하였으며, 국내의 심리서비스 관련 민간 자격의 취득 요건을 해외 심리서비스 자격요건과 비교하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 심리서비스 관련 민간자격은 심리치료/상담 이외에도 다양한 심리서비스 영역을 직무영역에 포함하였으며, 상당수가정신질환자 및 아동 등 취약군을 서비스대상자로 명시하였다. 또한 국내 대다수의 심리서비스 민간자격의 교육 및 수련시간 등 자격요건이 해외의 법령으로 규정된 심리전문가에 비해미흡한 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구결과는 국제 수준의 심리전문가 요건을 충족하는 민간자격과 그렇지 못한 자격을 구별하고, 국민의 안전과 건강을 보장할 수 있도록 전문 심리서비스를 제공하는 민간자격을 규제하고 관련 법을 제정하는 것이 시급함을 시사한다. One of the three key elements of evidence-based practice (EBP) includes the expertise of psychological service providers. The qualifications that define these service providers determine the quality of evidence-based psychological services. In Korea, numerous private psychological service qualifications have been inadequately regulated, leading to the provision of non-professional and unethical psychological services to the public. This study aimed to examine private psychological service qualifications in Korea, analyze their specifics including service types and training requirements and compare their regulatory status and prerequisites with those in other countries. The findings revealed that qualifications in South Korea encompass a range of psychological services extending beyond psychotherapy and counseling and are designed to provide psychological services to vulnerable populations such as children and individuals with mental illnesses. However, most psychological service qualifications in Korea were found to specify insufficient education and training requirements, as compared to those regulated in other countries. These findings highlight the urgent need for the legal regulation of private qualifications and the formulation of comprehensive legislation for psychological services with the context of Korean mental health.

Euntaek HongOne of the main themes in William Carlos Williams's poetry is to pursue a fresh life-force which makes all things moving alive, and the natural stream of its energy. Williams was in pursuit of penetrating all obstacles and communicating with each other truly through inter- penetration. With this theme he produced the poetics of 'process'. In the thematic aspect, the poetics of process seeks after the energy of life which refuses the typical completion and comes back to the beginning continuously, and in the formal aspect, open form or open text which includes the dispersal of various genres and of fragmental materials.This paper looks upon Williams' poetic characteristics as the poetics of process and in this respect tries to reread his long poem, Paterson. It probes especially the themes on dispersal, metamorphosis, and recurrence to the beginning among several themes which can prove the poetics of process. And it focuses on the structure of the poem and the method which deal with fragments with various genres.
