Does Home Oxygen Therapy Slow Down the Progression of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases?

Purpose: As the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) began to cover home oxygen therapy (HOT) services from 2006, it is expected that the new services have contributed to overall positive outcome of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We examined whether the usage of HOT has helped slow down the progression of COPD. Methods: We examined hospital claim data (N=10,798) of COPD inpatients who were treated in 2007∼2012. We performed χ2 tests to analyze the differences in the changes to respiratory impairment grades. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors that are associated with the use of HOT. Finally, a generalized linear mixed model was used to examine association between the HOT treatment and changes to respiratory impairment grades. Results: A total of 2,490 patients had grade 1 respiratory impairment, and patients with grades 2 or 3 totaled 8,308. The OR for use of HOT was lower in grade 3 patients than others (OR: 0.33, 95% CI: 0.30∼0.37). The maintenance/mitigation in all grades, those who used HOT had a higher OR than non-users (OR: 1.41, 95% CI: 1.23∼1.61). Conclusion: HOT was effective in maintaining or mitigating the respiratory impairment in COPD patients.

Purpose: Chronic diseases and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) have been independently linked to poorer cancer outcomes. This study investigated whether gastric cancer patients with hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia have higher mortality if diagnosed with CVD in the past year before cancer diagnosis. Materials and Methods: Data were obtained from the National Health Insurance database for 2002 to 2019. The study population consisted of gastric cancer patients with hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia. The outcome measure was 5-year mortality in re lation to incident status of CVD within 1 year before cancer diagnosis. A survival analysis was conducted using the Cox proportion al hazards model. Subgroup analysis was conducted according to age, economic status, and type of hospital first visited for cancer treatment. Results: Of a total of 6458 individuals, 2123 (32.7%) were diagnosed with CVDs in the past year before cancer diagnosis. Compared to participants without a history of CVD, those who were diagnosed with CVD showed a higher risk of 5-year mortality (hazard ra tio 1.259, 95% confidence interval 1.138–1.394). The extent to which the mortality risk differed between those with and without CVD was greater for individuals of low economic status and in those receiving their initial cancer treatment in a general hospital. Conclusion: Patients with gastric cancer and hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia diagnosed with CVD within 1 year before their cancer diagnosis had a higher mortality risk, emphasizing the importance of managing cancer patients with chronic disease and subsequent incidence of CVDs.

Accordings the coal industry regulation, almost coal mines were closed. Mining method in Korea is a gravitational one and 30% of coal in mining area should be remained for protecting a collapse of the mines. Collapse of mines produce a surface subsidence and results to economical damage. The mechanism of subsidence is not well studied and the studies be done in foreign countries are adopted to do in engineering fields. In this study, the experimental approaches are introduced and the numerical study were done for understanding the mechanism. In the numerical analysis, the general Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria and the Ubiqutous criteria implemented the effect of features of joint and bedding were used. Even though the direction and the strength of joint and beedding affect to the magnitude of subsidence, the geometrical condition of mines and profile significantly affect to evaluate a subsidence.
낸드 플래시 메모리의 가비지 컬렉션을 위한 적응적인 정책

낸드 플래시 메모리를 저장매체로 사용하기 위해서는 제자리 덮어쓰기가 불가능하고 블록의 지움 횟수가 제한된다는 문제점을 해결해야 한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 지움 횟수 평준화를 지원하는 다양한 가비지 컬렉션 정책들이 연구되고 있다. 하지만 기존 정책들은 지움 횟수 평준화를 지원하기 위해 가비지 컬렉션이 수행될 때마다 전체 블록에 대해 지움 대상 블록을 선정하기 위한 클리닉 지표를 구하는 연산을 수행하여야 하고 이 연산들은 시스템의 성능을 저하시킨다. 본 논문은 블록당 지움 횟수의 분산과 블록들의 최대 지움 횟수에 따라 변경되는 임계값을 이용하여 전체 블록에 대한 클리닉 지표를 구하는 연산을 수행하지 않으면서 지움 횟수 평준화를 제공한다. 가비지 컬렉션 시 분산이 임계값 보다 작을 때에는 Greedy 정책을 이용하여 지움 비용을 최소화하고, 분산이 임계값 보다 클 때에는 최대 지움 횟수를 가진 블록을 지움 대상에서 제외하여 지움 횟수를 평준화시킨다. 제안된 방법은 전체 블록에 대한 클리닉 지표를 연산하는 과정을 제거하여 가비지 컬렉션 속도를 향상시킨다.

본 논문에서는 에지 검출을 이용한 물체 추적 시스템을 제안한다. 시스템은 RC 카메라와 상하좌우 움직이는 모터로 구성되어 있다. 움직이는 물체가 감지되면 에지 검출을 하여 마이크로컨트롤러가 모터를 구동하게 된다. 제안한 자동물체 추적 시스템은 다른 무인 감시 시스템보다 쉽게 물체를 감시하고 제어하는데 이용할 수 있다. In this paper, we presents a auto target tracking system based on edge detection. This system consists of a PC camera and pan-tilt motors. The motors are drived by auto edge detection commands based on a microcontroller which is identified a moving target object. Our a auto target tracking system can be readily applied to monitor and control other unmanned watch system.
