Purpose: This study aims to investigate the work experience of speech-language pathologists and the actual use and satisfaction of materials/aids according to the type and age of disability, in order to lay the foundation for future research on materials and aids. Methods: A total of 132 SLPs were surveyed and classified into three groups according to their work experience. Participants in the in-depth interview consisted of a total of six people with an SLP license and a master’s degree or higher. Results: First, ‘toys’ and ‘books/cards’ were frequently used and highly preferred by all three groups of speech-language pathologists. SLPs with less than 10 years of experience preferred ‘toys’ more, while those with more than 10 years of experience preferred ‘professional publishing materials’. Second, there was no difference in the frequency of use of materials and aids according to the type of disability. Third, perceptions of ‘software programs’ and ‘custom-made digital data’ differed significantly according to experience, suggesting that more experienced speech-language pathologists may have less awareness of digital materials and aids. Fourth, the study also highlighted the importance of continuous efforts to improve the quality of materials and aids and to develop them in accordance with the needs of each treatment area. Conclusions: The findings of this study can help to inform the development of future materials/aids by providing standards for their actual use and satisfaction among speech-language pathologists.
