Hot spot phenomenon is caused by non-uniform contact area between brake pad and disk frequent braking. Brake disk deformed by locally concentrated heat increases magnitude of frictional vibration. And this deformation can highly influence the judder vibration. In this experimental study, vibration and hot spot was measured in accordance with rotation of disk and pressure of master cylinder for finding the factors that causes hot spot phenomena. For comparing hot spot aspects with mode shapes of disk, mode shapes were measured by conducting modal test, and analyzed by using finite element analysis. Relation between hot spot phenomenon, and mode shape, pressure of master cylinder and rotation speed of disk respectively, was achieved by hot spot measurement and frequency analysis.

In this thesis, When Isotropic material and was loading by spherical indenter. stres distribution and deformation was investigated by the finite element method.
As the semi-infinite body is given compressive loading, the body is governed by Hertz conta law. But if the Thickness is thin, The stress distribution and deformed degree of the body w be differ from Hertz law. Through study it is reveal that the body which is thick plate, same loading condition, has maximum compressive stress higher than the thick plate, and
contact region is narrow, that is, the thin plate has wide contact region and maximum compressive stress decreases by bending and other effects. And the transition region is very narrow from thick plate characteristics to thin plate characteristics.
Hot judder phenomenon makes serious problems such as to be uneasiness to drivers or to decrease braking force of vehicle. Because judder vibration makes high magnitude vibration occurrence and thermal problem of brake disk in accordance with hot spots growth at the same time. Therefore it is necessary to reduce or eliminate judder phenomenon by understanding and analyzing origins of hot spot phenomenon. In this experimental study, mode shapes and frequencies related to hot spots were measured by modal testing. For increasing results of modal testing, mode analysis was calculated by finite element analysis. For coupled analysis of disk thickness variation (DTV) and judder vibration, temperature distribution of brake disk, DTV and vibration were measured by interval of 30 seconds in accordance with pressure of master cylinder at the same time. These were conducted by chassis-dynamometer. Hot spot measurements were photographed by using infrared camera. As results, coupled analysis of DTV and judder vibration was performed and relationship between temperature distribution and mode shapes was analyzed.
