Light-weight foamed concrete using cement as a raw material consumes a lot of energy and generates CO2 because of the high temperature firing process in the manufacturing process of cement. This study was carried out to evaluate the use of blast furnace slag through the properties analysis by substituting a certain amount of blast furnace slag as an industrial by-product as a substitute for cement. The experimental results showed similar characteristics to those of using only cement when the blast furnace slag fine powder was used in an appropriate amount. Therefore, if a certain amount of cement is replaced with blast furnace slag powder, it can maintain similar quality, reduce natural resources and energy consumption, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
동결-융해 정자의 운동학적 특성에 대한 MitoTEMPO의 영향

정액의 동결보존은 인공수정을 통한 동물 번식에 유용한 것으로 알려져 있지만 동결-융해된 돼지 정액의 사용은 저온손상 때문에 제한된다. 최근에는 이를 보완하기 위해 다양한 첨가제 연구가 진행 되고 있다. 그 중 항산화제는 정자의 동결 융해과정에서 정자 세포막의 지질과산화를 억제시켜 정자의 생존성과 운동성을 개선시킨 다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 동결보존액에 대한 MitoTEMPO(미토콘드리아 표적 항산화제) 첨가가 돼지 동결-융해 정자의 운동학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 평가하는 것이다. 성숙한 Duroc종 수퇘지로부터 정액샘플을 채취하였으며, 다양한 농도의 MitoTEMPO (0, 0.5, 5, 50 및 500 μM)를 lactose-egg yolk 동결보존액에 첨가하여 정액을 동결하였다. 동결-융해후 정자의 운동학적 특성들은 정자자동분석기 (CASA; computer-assisted sperm analysis)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 동결용 보존액에 5 및 50 μM (50.46±2.71%, 46.96±2.66%) MitoTEMPO 첨가 시 500 μM 처리구 (35.40±2.95%)에 비해 유의적으로 높은 정자 운동성을 나타냈다(P<0.05). 그렇지만, 운동성을 제외한 다른 운동학적 특성에서는 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결론적으로 동결용 보존액에 대한 MitoTEMPO 첨가는 동결-융해 돼지정자의 운동성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 사료된다. Cryopreservation of semen is useful for animal breeding via artificial insemination (AI). However, the use of frozen-thawed boar semen is limited due to cryodamage. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different concentrations of MitoTEMPO (a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant) in lactose-egg yolk (LEY) extenders on kinetic characteristics of frozen-thawed boar sperms. Semen samples were collected from mature Duroc boars (2~3 years old) and cryopreserved in LEY extenders containing 0, 0.5, 5, 50, and 500 μM MitoTEMPO. The kinetic characteristics of frozen-thawed sperms were determined 0 and 30 min after thawing using computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA). Results indicated that sperm motility immediately after thawing was significantly higher with 5 and 50 μM (50.46±2.71% and 46.96±2.66%, respectively) than with 500 μM MitoTEMPO (35.40±2.95%) (P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in other kinetic characteristics except motility. In conclusion, the addition of MitoTEMPO to the sperm freezing extender may have a beneficial effect on motility of post-thawed boar semen.

Creativity education in the U.S.A. was started from the universities by professors J. P. Guilford`s and E. Paul Torrance`s influence in 1950. Professor Howard Cardner at Harvard University presented are search for “Educational curriculum for cultivating creativity in middle school, high school, and university” in 1997, and the education of cultivating creativity has been conducted in depth even in middle school and high school through all the areas of the U.S.A. Educational policy is being conducted independently by each state in Canada, and creativity education in middle school, high school and university in British Columbia has been substantially conducted after the state government presented the curriculum of educational innovation in 1990. In the United Kingdom, National Recommendation Committee of Education for Creativity and Culture was organized and creativity education in middle school, high school and university has been deeply conducted by the committee activities. In Germany, professor Muhle & Schell presented a thesis of “Creativity and School Education” (1970) and emphasized the education for cultivating creativity, and then creativity education has been conducted in middle school, high school, and university in the whole area of Germany. In Finland, Education for cultivating creativity in the school had been emphasized since 1980s and creativity education was realized in the school. In Spain, creativity education has been deeply progressed under the guidance by Professor David de Prado Dez at Santiago Compostera University. Insead, prestige European Institute of Business Administration at France, is a worldwide international graduate school of business administration, and the lecture on creative education is opened and instructed substantially. Japan, China, South Korea In East Asia, Education for cultivating creativity in the school had been emphasized. The world is confronted with lots of crises currently; there are many individual and social issues to be solved in our lives, such as creative innovation in business competitions, global warming, frequent occurrence of typhoon and hurricane, etc. To search for the solutions of such difficult issues, creative problem solving is necessary and it is recognized that creativity education is urgent. I reviewed the execution of creativity education in the Western countries under the trends of Western educational innovation and hope such result would largely contribute to the reference and educational improvement of the execution of creativity education in Korea.

In recent years, many investigations have been conducted for microchannel heat sinks with MEMS technologies for electronics cooling, but few investigations have been performed to design optimal header for two phase microchannel heat sinks. In general, mass flow distribution in multi-channel heat sinks is strongly determined by geometric parameters of the header of microchannels. This simulation work investigates the impact of mass flow distribution in multi-channel heat sinks to provide optimal geometric parameters for header design, under given geometric criteria. Absolute average deviation, root mean squared deviation, total pressure drop, and area ratio (header area over microchannel area) are calculated with respect to n, the geometric parameter of header shape. Mass flow distribution among microchannels is not changing much under a certain value of n.
친환경 자동차, 대용량 조명장치 등에 적용을 위한 승/강압이 가능한 양방향 H-Bridge Inverter 에 관한 연구

The inverter is widely used for the Green car and High Power Light System. Conventional sinusoidal Inverter(DC-AC conversion system) has a power loss from the wrongly controled switching device due to their own falling and rising time1)2). In this paper, we propose the new method to add the proper dead time and which can work for step down operation. Especially, bi-directional operation is necessary for electronic(hybrid)car and UPS system. For this purpose we propose the novel control method for step-up operation when it works for AC-DC operation without additional converter only using H-Bridge inverter.
