Novel isolate DC-DC converters with current circulating circuit for electronic/hybrid car and UPS

Full-bridge, Push-Pull, Flyback and Forward converters are generally used for electronic/hybrid car and UPS(Uninterrupted Power Supply). In this paper, we proposed novel Full-bridge, Push-Pull, Flyback and Forward converters. In the design topologies, the proper inductor was added in order to make the circulating current even during dead time period, so that we can achieve the better properties such as higher efficiency, cheaper price, with same output properties as the conventional converters. The proposed topologies simulated by PSpice.

A step-down non-isolated Buck converter is a common and basic topology in the field. We analyzed the Characteristic of Multiphase Interleaved Buck Converter in DCM(Discontinuous Current Mode) and CCM(Continuous Current Mode) for law ripple and high efficiency1). Multiphase buck converter has more advantages than other topology. Input current of converter is divided into each converters because of the structure. it has features of decreasing input current ripple and increasing efficiency of converter. So we can reduce the size of Capacitor and Inductor2). It means that the size of system is also reduced3). The Time Reverse Recovery loss of diode was also affected4)5), the TRR loss was confirmed to be negligible in the 120kHz 8 Phase case despite the CCM situation. In this study, the effects of the loss factors were analyzed on the efficiency of the multiphase interleaving buck converter in DCM and CCM, and it would be helpful to design a more efficient converter by effectively controlling the factors of each loss. At least, we tested the performance of the analyzed system with PSpice.

The inverter is widely used for the Green car and High Power Light System. Conventional sinusoidal Inverter(DC-AC conversion system) has a power loss from the wrongly controled switching device due to their own falling and rising time1)2). In this paper, we propose the new method to add the proper dead time and which can work for step down operation. Especially, bi-directional operation is necessary for electronic(hybrid)car and UPS system. For this purpose we propose the novel control method for step-up operation when it works for AC-DC operation without additional converter only using H-Bridge inverter.

전기/하이브리드 자동차, 도금용 정류기 등에 적용이 가능한 555 timer와 Photo Coupler를 이용한 대용량 SCR/IGBT용 Gate Driver 설계

전기/하이브리드 자동차, 도금용 정루기 등에 들어가는 전력변환장치는 SCR, MOSFET, IGBT와 같은 스위칭 소자가 필수적으로 사용되며 이를 구동하기 위해서는 Gate Driver가 역시 필수적으로 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 대용량 전력변환장치에 사용되는 스위칭소자 SCR/IGBT를 구동하는데 필요한 Gate Driver를 제안한다. 제안된 Gate Driver는 4개의 BJT를 이용한 H-Bridge를 포함하며, 이는 입력된 DC 전력을 AC로 변환하여 Transformer를 통하여 Isolate 된 전원을 생성한다. 또한 Gate 제어 신호는 입력 전원과 Isolated된 전원이 연결된 Photo Coupler를 통해 Isolate된 제어 신호로 변환하여 실제 SCR/IGBT를 구동한다. 본 논문에서는 Simulation을 통해서 설계된 555 Timer를 통한 H-Bridge 동작을 검증하며 시제품을 제작하여 27V 50,000A 급의 도금용 정류기를 구동시켜 파형을 확인함으로써 제안된 Gate Driver의 타당성을 검증한다. Electronic/hybrid car and electroplating rectifier should have switching devices such as SCR, MOSFET, IGBT. And those switching devices should be operated by gate driver. In this paper, we propose high power gate driver that contains H-Bridge using 4 BJTs. H-Bridge and transformer generate isolate power. And gate control signal is transferred to isolated one by photo coupler and operate real switching device. We designed H-Bridge and 555-Timer by PSpice simulation and manufactured real product. Finally we succeed to operate 27V 50,000A electroplating rectifier using proposed gate driver.
