This study evaluated the possibility of the 3-dimensional attachment of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts to a periodntally involved root surface after an EDTA treatment in vitro. The human PDL fibroblasts were isolated from the middle third of the root of periodontally healthy teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons. The cells were cultured in a medium containing Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum at $37^{\circ}C$ in humidified air containing 5% $CO_2$. Eight single-rooted teeth were obtained from patients diagnosed with periodotitis. After scaling and root planing, four teeth were etched with 24% ethylenediaminetetracetic acid (EDTA) for two minutes (Experimental group). The other four teeth were not treated with EDTA and were used as the control group. The human PDL fibroblasts were placed in the total root surface and cultured for 4 weeks. The teeth were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde in PBS before preparation for the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) examination. The human PDL fibroblasts showed a healthy morphology on the root surfaces treated with EDTA (Experimental group) and a relatively unhealthy appearance on the treated root surfaces (Control group). This suggests that EDTA favorably affects the 3-dimensional attachment of human PDL fibroblasts cultured on the root surfaces. which may play an important role in periodontal healing and regeneration.

Background: Vitiligo is an acquired pigmentary disorder and half of these patients experience disease onset during childhood. The psychosocial complications of vitiligo can be substantial, and especially for children. There has been no study that has compared the clinical features according to the symmetry of the vitiligo lesions of patients with childhood vitiligo. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical aspects and distribution of the vitiligo lesions according to the symmetry in patients with childhood vitiligo. Methods: The clinical characteristics and distribution of the vitiligo lesions according to the symmetry were investigated in the 263 childhood patients who were diagnosed with vitiligo at the Dermatology Department of our University Hospital from January 1991 to August 2008. Results: Of the 263 patients, 133 (50.6%) had the asymmetric vitiligo lesions, 76 (28.9%) had the symmetric lesions and 54 (20.5%) had the multiple lesions. Of the patients with asymmetric vitiligo lesions, 91 (34.6%) had the localized lesions and 42 (16.0%) had the segmental lesions. The most common site of the vitiligo lesions was the face (54.8%). In case of the vitiligo lesions on the scalp, face and neck, the asymmetric type was predominant. The lesions on the scalp and the face showed a lesser tendency to spread to other sites. Conclusion: Childhood vitiligo showed the higher prevalence of asymmetric vitiligo lesions. It is expected that the asymmetric type of childhood vitiligo, and especially that on the scalp and the face, may have a favorable clinical course. (Korean J Dermatol 2009;47(1):36~42)

Lipoma is the most common benign mesenchymal neoplasm composed of mature fat. Although lipoma can occur in any part of the body, it is infrequently found in the oral cavity. Especially, lipoma of the tongue is rare and there have been no previous reports of this in the Korean dermatology literature. Lingual lipoma, which accounts for 0.3% of all tongue neoplasm, is typically described as well-circumscribed, submucosal mass and it is located on the lateral border of the anterior two-thirds of the tongue surface. We herein report on a rare case of lipoma of the tongue that occurred in a 77-year old male patient. (Korean J Dermatol 2010;48(5):440~441)

목적 본 연구는 2015 개정 중학교 음악교과서에서 융합학습이 어떻게 구성되어 있는지를 표현 영역을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 융합학습이 적용된 제재의 학습활동을 대상으로 융합된 교과의 종류 및 기능을 분석하였다. 방법 분석 대상 교과서는 2015 개정 중학교 음악교과서 5종을 대상으로 하였다. 연구 절차는 첫째, 연구 대상 교과서들 중 표현 영역에서 융합학습이 가능한 제재의 학습활동을 선정하여 제시하였다. 둘째, 선정된 학습활동의 융합 관련 교과들과 기능을 표로서 제시하였다. 셋째, 각 표로 정리한 분석 교과서의 제재를 종합적으로 분석하여 융합 가능 교과들과 기능의 양적 비율을 분석하여 제시하였다. 결과 분석 결과, 첫째, 중학교 음악교과서에서 융합학습의 연계 교과 비중이 국어 교과(33.9%)의 가사바꾸기/가사의 의미 알기 활동이나 체육 교과(16.3%)의 신체표현하기 활동에 집중되어 있고, 나머지 교과들은 10% 이하의 비율로 적용되어 연계 비율이 비교적 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자연과학 계열 교과인 수학, 과학, 기술가정, 정보 교과의 연계 비중의 총 합은 전체 교과의 약 7%에 그치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중학교 음악교과서에서 융합학습활동으로 적용된 기능의 빈도수는 가창(52.1%)에서 가장 많은 융합학습이 적용되었고 이어 창작(22.1%), 신체표현(15.6%), 기악/표현(매체)(3.6%), 표현(그림)(3%) 순으로 나타나, 융합학습이 가창(52.1%)에 편중되어 있는 반면 기악(3.6%)은 매우 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 결론 중학교 음악교과서에서의 융합학습이 좀 더 다양한 교과 및 방법으로 폭넓고 깊이있게 적용되도록 구성되어야 할 것이다. 나아가 중학교 음악교과서에서 제시되는 융합학습이 학습과정에서 음악적 흥미나 창의·융합 사고력 등을 포괄할 수 있는지 심도있게 고려되어야 할 필요가 있을 것이다. Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine how the convergence learning is structured in the 2015 revised middle school music curriculum, focusing on the domains of expression. We conducted an analysis on the types and functions of the curricula that have current learning activities with convergence learning applied. Methods The subjects of this study were the five 2015 revised middle school music textbooks. First, we selected the current learning activities that make convergence learning possible in the domains of expression among the chosen textbooks. Second, we presented the curricula and functions that could reflect convergence learning in the domain of expression in tables. Third, we comprehensively analyzed the textbooks summarized in the tables and presented the analysis results that showed the quantitative ratios of the curricula that enables convergence learning. Results As a result, first, the proportion of subjects related to convergence learning in middle school music textbooks is concentrated on changing lyrics/knowing the meaning of lyrics in the Korean language subject(33.9%) or expressing the body in the physical education subject(16.3%), while the rest of the subjects are 10% it was applied at the following ratio, indicating that the linkage ratio was relatively low. In addition, it was found that the sum of the proportions of the natural science subjects, such as mathematics, science, technology home, and information subjects, was only about 7% of the total subjects. Second, as for the frequency of functions applied as convergence learning activities in middle school music textbooks, singing(52.1%) applied the most convergence learning, followed by creation(22.1%), body expressionon(15.6%), instrumental music/expression (media)(3.6%) and expression(figure)(3%), it was found that convergence learning was concentrated on singing(52.1%) while instrumental music(3.6%) was very poor. Conclusions There is a need to apply the convergence learning in various methods and to a broader area in the middle school music curriculum. Additionally, we need to carefully consider how the convergence learning in the middle school music curriculum will encompass the musical interest or creative/convergent thinking moving forward.
