      • 고분자전해질 연료전지에서 전기화학반응 열생성에 의한 열전달특성

        In proton exchange membrane fuel cell, the heat is generated at the catalyst layer as result of exothermic electrochemical reaction. This heat increases temperature of gas diffusion layer and membrane whose conductivity is very sensitive to humidity, function of temperature. So it is very important to analysis heat transfer through fuel cell to maintain temperature at specified range. In this paper numerical simulation was done including reversible, irreversible, ionic resistance, water formation loss to source term of energy equation. Results show that irreversible and water formation loss contributes mainly to energy source term and as current density increases, all of energy source terms become increased and Nusselt number is increased as results of more heat generation. Particularly irreversible loss is found to be predominant among the all energy source and water formation at cathode channel influences the temperature distribution of fuel cell greatly.

        전기화학반응을 수반한 유로채널 형상에 따른 마찰계수에 대한 연구

        주어진 연료전지면적에서 반응면적이 넓을수록 성능이 향상되는 연료전지는 좁은 폭의 채널을 여러 개 존재하게 하는 구조를 선호하지만 채널 폭이 좁아질수록 압력이 커지는 문제가 고려되어져야 한다. 그러나 현재 채널 구조에 따른 압력에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되어져 왔지만 대부분 반응을 고려하지 않았으며, 반응을 고려한 경우에 어떤 경향을 나타내는지 알아보는 것이 연료전지 유로설계에 있어 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서 화학반응을 고려한 평행류, 90도 밴드형, serpentine 세가지 종류의 유로채널를 가진 연료전지를 수치 해석하여 반응을 고려하지 않은 경우와 마찰계수(fRe), 속도, 압력강하를 비교하여 본 결과 parallel과 bend 형태의 채널은 반응을 고려한 경우 반응에 의한 밀도의 감소에 따라 근소하게 감소한 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 serpentine채널은 다공성매체인 확산층을 통해 인접한 채널로 가스가 이동하는 bypass flow 영향에 의하여 상대적으로 낮은 압력강하를 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다. The performance of fuel cell is enhanced with increasing reaction surface. Narrow flow channels in flow plate cause increased pumping power. Therefore it is very important to consider the pressure drops in the flow channel of fuel cell. Previous research for pressure drop for micro channel of fuel cell was focused on effects of various configuration of flow channel without electrochemical reaction. It is very important to know pressure loss of micro flow channel with electrochemical reaction because fluid density in micro channel is changed due to chemical reaction. In this paper, it is investigated that the pressure drops in micro channel of various geometries at anode and cathode with electrochemical reaction and compared them to friction coefficient (fRe), velocity, pressure losses for corresponding non reacting flow channel. The results show that friction factors for cold flow channel could be used for parallel and bended flow channel for flow channel design of fuel cell. In the other hand, pressure drop for serpentine flow channel is the lowest among flow channels due to bypass flow across gas diffusion layer under reacting flow condition although its pressure drop is highest for cold flow condition.

        평행류와 Interdigitated 유로를 가진 교분자 전해질 연료전지(PEMFC)의 성능특성에 대한 수치해석

        고분자 전해질 연료전지의 분리판의 유동채널 설계는 고전류밀도에서 발생하는 농도분극에 직접적인 영향을 줄 뿐 아니라 생성되는 물의 효과적인 전달을 위하여 매우 중요하다. 평행류 유로와 interdigitated 유로의 성능비교를 위하여 연료극과 공기극이 포함된 완전한 형태의 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 3차원 수치해석모델을 개발하였다. 수치해석모델을 사용하여 평행류 유동장과 interdigitated 유동장의 압력강하, 채널간의 물질전달, $H_2O$와 $O_2$의 농도 분포 그리고 i-V 성능을 비교하였다. 그 결과 물질전달에서 채널간의 대류에 의한 물질전할이 더욱 우수한 interdigitated 유동채널에서 성능이 더 높게 나타났으며 압력강하는 보다 크게 나타나 설계시 두가지 성능에 대한 상호보완이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. Optimum design of flow channel in the separation plate of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell is very prerequisite to reduce concentration over potential at high current region and remove the water generated in cathode effectively. In this paper, fully 3 dimensional computational model which solves anode and cathode flow fields simultaneously is developed in order to compare the performance of fuel cell with parallel and interdigitated flow channels. Oxygen and water concentration and pressure drop are calculated and i-V performance characteristics are compared between flows with two flow channels. Results show that performance of fuel cell with interdigitated flow channel is hi민or than that with parallel flow channel at high current region because hydrogen and oxygen in interdigitated flow channel are transported to catalyst layer effectively due to strong convective transport through gas diffusion layer but pressure drop is larger than that in parallel flow channel. Therefore Trade-off between power gain and pressure loss should be considered in design of fuel cell with interdigitated flow channel.

      • 유로형상 및 운전조건에 따른 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 성능 특성

        For proton exchange membrane fuel cell, it is very important to design the flow channel on separation plate optimally to maximize the current density at same electrochemical reaction surface and reduce the concentration polarization occurred at high current density. In this paper, three dimensional computation model including anode and cathode domain together was developed to examine effects of flow patterns and operation conditions such as humidity and operating temperature on performance of fuel cell. Results show that voltage at counter flow condition is higher than that at coflow condition in parallel and interdigitated flow pattern. And fuel cell with interdigitated flow pattern which has better mass transport by convection flow through gas diffusion layer has higher performance than with parallel flow pattern but its pressure drop is increased such that the trade off between performance and pressure drop should be considered for selection of flow pattern of fuel cell.

      • 유로형상 변화에 따른 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 성능 및 전달특성에 대한 3차원 수치해석적 연구

        Selection of flow channel in the separation plate of PEMFC is very important parameter to improve its performance and reduce parasite loss. Flow patterns in the channel have great influence on the transport of hydrogen and all and water generated from electrochemical reaction in diffusion layer In this study, fluid flow in flow channel with parallel and interdigitated patterns are simulated three dimensionally on full flow domain including anode and cathode electrode together. The numerical results show that the fuel cell with interdigitated flow channel represents better performance than that with parallel flow channel due to its strong convective transport across the gas diffusion layer. But the pressure drop in parallel flow channel is much more than that in nterdigitated flow channel. The effect of temperature and stoichiometric number on performance can be calculated and analyzed as well.

        PLGA/피브린 지지체가 늑연골 세포의 부착과 성장에 미치는 영향

        Poly(lactide-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)는 좋은 기계적 성질과 생분해성으로 약물전달시스템 또는 조직공학적으로 널리 이용되고 있으나 낮은 세포 부착률을 가지고 있어 피브린을 첨가하여 이를 보완하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 지지체는 트롬빈과 피브리노겐, 그리고 세포을 혼합시킨 후 PLGA 지지체 위에 도포시켜 제조하였다. 세포의 부착 및 증식률을 측정하고자 PLGA/피브린 지지체에 늑연골 세포를 파종 후 1, 3일 및 7일 후 SEM과 MTT 분석을 통하여 측정하였으며, 세포외기질 형성에 미치는 피브린의 영향을 확인하고자 세포를 파종 후 누드마우스에 이식하여 GAG 및 콜라겐 합성의 효과를 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 피브린이 혼합된 PLGA 지지체가 생체내·외 환경에서 세포의 부착 및 증식에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과, PLGA/피브린 지지체가 기존의 PLGA 지지체와 비교하여 탁월한 세포 성장률을 나타내는 것으로 확인하였다. Poly(lactide-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) has been widely used in the drug delivery and tissue engineering applications because of its good mechanical strength and biodegradation profile. However, cell attachment to the scaffold is low compared with that on fibrin although cells can be attached to the polymer surface. In this study, PLGA scaffolds were soaked in cells-fibrin suspension and polymerized with dropping fibrinogen-thrombin solution. Cellular proliferation activity was observed in PLGA/fibrin-seeded costal cartilage cells (CC) on 1, 3, and 7 days using the MTT assay and SEM. The effects of fibrin on the extracellular matrix (ECM) formation were evaluated using CC cell-seeded PLGA/fibrin scaffolds. The PLGA/fibrin scaffolds elicited more production of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and collagen than the PLGA scaffold. In this study, fibrin incorporated PLGA scaffolds were prepared to evaluate the effects of fibrin on the cell attachment and proliferation in vitro and in vivo. In this result, we confirmed that proliferation of cells in PLGA/fibrin scaffolds were better than in PLGA scaffolds. The PLGA/fibrin scaffolds provide suitable environment for growth and proliferation of costal cartilage cells.

      • 자동차 실내 열적환경을 위한 냉난방 시트의 성능평가

        Research and Development for a climate control seat is performing vigorously because requests for driver's thermal comfort are increasing. The climate control seat using thermoelectric device was designed, manufactured, and tested. The performance characteristics of the cooling and heating system were investigated and analyzed by experiments for a mesh applied seat and an original seat, respectively. Test results show that the cooling and heating performance for the mesh applied seat was significantly improved in comparison with that of the original seat. Therefore, it is possible to provide rapidly thermal comfort in vehicle cabin using the proposed climate control seat.
