Bilateral Upper Eyelid Entropion in a HanWoo (Bos taurus coreanae) Calf
정선준,김주리,이동빈,김남수,허수영 한국임상수의학회 2019 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.36 No.5
An 18-day-old male HanWoo calf was presented to the Animal Medical Center of Jeonbuk National University with a history of bilateral blepharospasm and epiphora. The calf was infected with rotavirus and was severly dehydrated. On ophthalmic examination, enophthalmos was noticed and the calf was diagnosed with bilateral upper eyelid entropion and resultant trichiasis. As a treatment, skin staples were applied, and the entropion was successfully corrected. Further, entropion has not recurred through the follow-up period.

This study aimed to confirm the effects that the mobile phone has on Electroretinogram (ERG). The ERG responses of three groups of healthy dogs, five in each group, were studied. ERG test was performed consecutively before and after the mobile phone was carried out. For group A, music was played with the sound on; for group B, music was played but the sound off; and for group C, the phone was set on the airplane mode. In the presence of a mobile phone, the amplitudes of a- and b-wave were increased in all groups. The a- and b-wave amplitudes at the flash intensity of 3,000 mcd·s/m2 were significantly increased in all groups (p < 0.05). Based on the results, it is recommended to conduct ERG test in the absence of a mobile phone for the accurate evaluation of the retinal function.
Left-Side Surgical Approach to Mitral Valve in Dog Cadaver Study
문정현,황병문,김대식,정선준,하용수,이기창,김남수,김민수 한국임상수의학회 2018 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.35 No.1
Mitral regurgitation is the most frequent cause of cardiac disability and death in dogs. A wide range ofmedical and surgical treatments have been used for mitral regurgitation. Surgical treatments for complete correctionof mitral regurgitation include valve repair and valve replacement, which have the advantages of eliminating orcorrecting the primary cause. Surgical treatments approach the mitral valve via right- or left-side thoracotomy. Aorticroot exposure is needed for cardiopulmonary bypass. To compare right-side and left-side approaches, 10 dog cadaverswere used in this study. Subsequently, the left-side surgical approach was used in vivo and in conjunction withcardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegic arrest. Based on the results, and considering ease of access to the aorticroot, valve incision site, and visualization of the surgical field, a left-side approach is recommended.
