This thesis aims to read A Gesture Life, a novel written by Chang-rae Lee, through Walter Benjamin`s theory on memory. For this purpose, this study is divided into two parts: the first is understanding of Benjamin`s theorization on memory and the other is a reading of A Gesture Life. Benjamin`s key concept relevant to my reading of A GestureLife is``involuntary memory,``which,as opposed to voluntary memory, is the one suddenly brought to the present from the past through one`s unconscious remembrance. Involuntary memory is forgotten from one`s conscious and remembered only through one`s deepest unconscious. With the retrieval of one`s involuntary memory, the oppressed individual can rewrite one`s subjective historical truth abjected and denied from the official historiography reflecting the perspective of the winners. Based on Benjamin`s concept of involuntary memory, this study proposes that A Gesture Life rewrites the abjected histories of the two historical others, Kketaeh(a Korean comfort woman Hata met during the Pacific War)and Sunny(Hata`s adopted mixed daughter born between a Korean prostitute and an American black GI) through the involuntary remembrance of the protagonist, Franklin Hata. Hata,a Japanese-American elderly man living in a wealthy village nearby New York, has attempted to forget two women in order to successfully assimilate into the mainstream society. However, as the novel progresses, they are suddenly summoned to the present through his involuntary remembrance, demanding an ethical and political action. In response to this demand, Hata makes a choice to leave his beloved home,a symbol of his assimilation. I interpretHata`s act as a declaration not to be assimilated.

In this paper, we implemented the failure detecting and monitoring system for high-pressure natrium lamps and ballasts. The hall CTs of the local detecting system measure the current flowing into natrium lamps via ballasts and ascertain whether the natrium lamps or ballasts are out of order or not. These test data are transmitted to the main monitoring system. So, we can see the status of the natrium lamps or ballasts promptly.<br/> <br/>

인성교육의 기존연구 검토와 방향성에 관한 고찰 - 외재적 덕목의 강조에서 내재적 주체성 확립에로의 전환을 중심으로 -

본고는 기존의 인성교육이 학생들에게 실효성 있는 방향으로 이루어지지 못하고 있는 부분을 비판적으로 검토하고, 보다 근본적이고 실천적인 인성교육의 내용과 방향을 제시하려는 작업이다. 기존의 연구를 분석해볼 때, 현재까지 진행된 대부분의 인성교육은 외재적 덕목들을 강조해 왔다. 특히, 학교폭력, 자살, 배려의식의 부족 등 청소년의 비도덕성을 지적하고, 그것이 인성교육의 부재로 인해 발생한다고 보는 단순‧환원적 사고가 주류를 이루었다. 이러한 인성교육을 비판적으로 성찰하면, 진정한 인성함양의 방향을 재고할 수 있다. 우선, 인성 함양의 주체인 학생 스스로가 자발적으로 그 필요성을 인식하는데서 인성교육이 출발해야 한다. 다음으로 인성교육의 핵심 덕목이나 가치들이 외부에서 주입되는 방식이 아니라 학생의 실제 삶 속에서 실천으로 이어지도록 인식의 변화가 요청된다. 다시 말해, 학습자 중심의 자발적이고 자기 주도적 방식으로 인성교육의 전환이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 학생이 자신에 대한 긍정적 정체감을 형성하고 인생의 주인이 자신이라는 주체성 확립이 강화되어야 한다. 외부로부터 주어지는 덕목에 앞서, 자기 정체성과 주체성의 확립이 인성교육의 핵심내용으로 될 때, 존중, 협력, 배려와 같은 공동체 의식이 자연스럽게 생겨날 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. This paper is dedicated to critically analyze the shortcomings of the current character education system, and propose a more fundamental and practical direction of the new alternative method there must be. Based on the previous review, the character educational system so far has been more emphasizing social values over personal values. Especially, reductive thinking that blames any unfavorable incidents such as school violence, high suicide rate, and lack of compassion merely onto the morality of the juvenile. The researcher proposes that an effective character education must stand its basis in guiding students to recognize the importance of enhancing character and morality themselves. Without it, forcing values and virtues cannot bring about self-transforms that leads to positive behaviors. Character education, more than any other education, should center around a voluntary, self-directed method. The construction of a positive self-identity as a master of my life need to be prioritized to accomplish this. The researcher argues this process of establishing a healthy autonomy is essential to structure a sense of community within an individual mind.

Ozone is attracting increased attention as a pollution-free oxidant in various applications. These include treatment of drinking water and waste water in both household and industry, and the cleaning and disinfection of contaminated water and air. To meet these wide interests, two problems must be solved: The first problem is to improve power efficiency for ozone generator and the second problem is to dissolve ozon in water with high concentration. In this paper, we propose a new efficient method for the production of ozonized water. Our method has some advantages over the previous methods. To demonstrate the practical significance of our results, we present some experimental results.
