To estimate the cooling load for the following day, outdoor temperature and humidity are needed in hourly base. But the meteorological administration forecasts only maximum and minimum temperature. New methodology is proposed for predicting hourly outdoor temperature and humidity by using the forecasted maximum and minimum temperature. The correlations for normalized outdoor temperature and specific humidity has been derived from the weather data for five years at Seoul, Daejeon and Pusan. The correlations for normalized temperature are independent of date, while the correlations for specific humidity are linearly dependent on date. The predicted results show fairly good agreement with the measured data. The prediction program is also developed for hourly outdoor dry bulb temperature, specific humidity, dew point, relative humidity, enthalpy and specific volume.

In our country, which imports 97% of the energy consumed, an energy saving policy is required. The price inflation of utility bills is caused by a steep rise in the prices of imported oil. This study aims to solve the difficulties that cause poor environmental conditions for workers in the energy services sector, and especially, to systematize energy consumption reports to manage energy goals by suggesting an example of written energy-saving reports. To this end, this research focuses on energy consumption of target facilities including office spaces in a main building and multi-use facilities of an office building. A system where all employees can participate is structured through the analysis of energy usage in the target buildings

It is important issue to reduce the electric energy to save the operating cost of HVAC system. Even if electrical energy is the clean energy, it is difficult and takes high cost for storage of electricity. These cause the high peak load of electric energy for HVAC in summer season. In korea, government impose the electric charge with several grade for the purpose of cut-off the peak load of electricity. Government has a policy to support to design and install the heat/ice storage system using midnight electricity. In this study, analysis of cooling load and operating characteristics for ice storage system are performed. And, also economical efficiency is compared between ordinary charge system of electricity and midnight rate charge of electricity. The systematic and economical supports are needed for expansion of usage of energy saving equipments.

The objective of this study is to apply the estimation program of cooling load, which is made for electric power supply and demand control, on general ice thermal storage system. When applying the program, the amount of cooling thermal storage is 0 ㎾ and operating mode is not considerable. The program estimate cooling load using the input values that are only the lowest and highest temperature for the next day. Then the estimated data help an operator to be easily handling the cooling system by calculation data. The estimated values were compared with the real values and investigated. In this way, office working conditions were more pleasant and running cost of ice thermal storage system were reduced.

The engineer"s effort to select a optimized material can cut down the production cost over approximately 10% in design step. The methods selecting optimized material are one by experiment and one by existing research data. In this paper, we studied the procedure and the way of the latter. And STS304L was selected as an optimized material by the cross-check of STS304L and STS316L through the analysis of existing corrosion data. To estimate a life cycle cost(LCC), the design engineer must be enabled to presume the material lifespan due to corrosion. The equation to estimate the LCC should be develop to presume the material lifespan. The variable of the equation should be apply only parameters of a water quality analysis data without experiment ones in order to see the lifespan handily.

This research describes the application of hydrocarbon refrigerants for heat pump system which is needed for fish farm. Tested refrigerants are HCFC-22 and hydrocarbon refrigerants(CARE 50 and ASR-20). CARE 50 is mixture of R-290 and R-170, and ASR-20 is mixture of R-152a, R-290 and other additives. Heat pump consist of shell and tube heat exchanger, scroll compressor, expansion valve and accumulator. Manual expansion valve is used for testing of wide range evaporating temperature. Hydrocarbon refrigerants show a good performance as an alternative for HCFC-22 in the range of evaporating temperature from -6℃ to 6℃.

It is necessary to estimate the cooling load of the next day for effective control of ice thermal storage system. In this paper, new methodology is proposed to estimate the cooling load using design parameters of building and predicted weather data. Only six input parameters such as sensible heat coefficient and constant, latent heat coefficient and constant, maximum and minimum temperature are necessary to obtain hourly distribution of cooling load for the next day. Two benchmarking buildings/hospital and research institute) are selected to validate the performance of the proposed method, and the estimated cooling loads in hourly and daily bases are calculated and compared with the measured data for E hospital. The estimated results show fairly good agreement with the measured data for both buildings.

In this paper, new methodology is proposed to estimate the cooling load using areas of building group and predicted weather data. Only three parameters such as maximum, minimum temperature and building area are necessary to obtain hourly distribution of cooling load for the next day. The maximum and minimum temperature that are used for input parameters can be obtained from forecasted weather data. The areas of building group are used for setting several parameters that are used for estimate cooling loads. Benchmarking building(research building) is selected to validate the performance of the proposed method, and the estimated cooling loads in hourly bases are calculated and compared with the measured data for benchmarking building. The estimated results show fairly good agreement with the measured data for benchmarking building.
